Haviing IBS it was recommended by my doctor for daily use. It has worked wonderfully in having softer stools to pass with out the stain that I have dealt with for years. No more hard straining to have a BM. Hope it works for You also, can get the cheaper brand called purelax which is the same as the Miralax.

I have infrequent bowel movements (every few days). My doctor told me about Purelax about a month ago. I use it when I notice I have not had a movement in a day or so. When I use it one time in the evening prior to bed, I wake up in the morning and my problem is solved. It works really well. It is considerably better than any other laxative I've ever used. The only effect it has prior to a bowel movement is the sounds my stomach make to let me know its working.

I was doing great with Purelax for the first 2 months. Now in month 3 my cramping, gas, and frequent-urge and infrequent-complete-elimination is back. I don't know what to do.
