I'm suffering from DDD, Scoliosis, Shoulder Injury x 2 and neuropathic pain for 10 years (since age 21). Over the years, I've been prescribed Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Codeine, Tramadol, Neurontin,Lyrica.....and finally something that works, the BUTRANS patch. Wow, I actually have control of my life again! My pain level went from an (8) pre-patch to about a (3) post-patch. I apply a new patch ...

I broke by back in 1976 and had 3 verts. fused. Everythin underneath the fusion suffered, especially L5-S1. Six surgerys total in 35 years and alot of pain meds. I started the patch one week ago, so far so good, it seems to work for now. Most of my lumbar spine is now fused, but I still walk. Why could'nt they invent something likes years ago. The technology aint that technical.. All I can say is dont knock it unless you try it...

I was using morphine type medication in pill format when my doctor switched me to the Butran patch. I was using 6 break thru medicines per day before switching to the patch. Now I am down to 2.

Had C5-6 and C6-7 discectomy & vertabrae fusion Sep 2010 after 1 & 1/2 years of chronic, debilatating pain. I had been prescribed narcotic meds prior to, and following surgery. Oxycodone 10mg, 5xs daily was my last oral pain medication. Of course my tolerance increased, and the meds were no longer effective. And my pain- D/T severe spinal cord damage recieved from the inj- continued to be fairly severe. My pain mngt Dr. decided that the Butrans TD would provide more significant relief. I began the patches 1 week ago and I wish my Dr. would have prescribed them sooner. Although my pain level may never be nil, I can now get through my day, at work or home, without fighting the urgent desire to crawl into bed at the earliest opportunity, only to wake in more pain. I am currently on the 10mcg dose and felt the difference after only 24 hrs. (Although full effectiveness is not expected until 48-72hrs) My only recommendation to the manufacturer, Make a 3 day patch. The little suckers dont like to stick around long.Read More Read Less

I have been on many narcotics. i have degenerative disc disease, have had back surgery, and they wanna put cages in between my disc with pins and rods. i opted not to do that as i am 32 yrs. old with 2 young children. my original pain dr just wanted to keep doin injections which did nothing. so i changed pain centers and they put me on the butrans patch. it has cut my pain down alot. i still have some pain but it is tolerable. i am glad they gave me the patch.

I have had Chronic lower back pain for years. Have been taking Vicodin 5mg for 4 times a day for a while with minimal pain relief. I was switched to Butrans 10mcg and am feeling great pain releif. My Dr still gave me Vicodin for breakthrough pain but I have only needed to take a a few the first few days and have not taken any Vicodin since. Would highly recommend this medication.

I started using Butrans 10 about a month ago I decided to get off the Lowertabs I was taking before I over dosed I was taking up to 10 a day just to make the pain go away. the thing I like most about Butrans it is you dont need to keep remembering pills at first the Butrans made my stomache a little sick but a lot of my pain is gone and for once I feel normal not drugged up I can think strait. this week my doctor up my perscription to 20 so I will keep you posted. also ask your doctor for the savings card it is goog for a year or I think you can get it on line it saved me ALOT of moneyRead More Read Less
