I just started taking this pill and now that I know after reading some reviews that I'm not going crazy!! I have terrible nausea, bloating, and my emotions can change in the span of a half a second -- I can go from being okay to just completely bitter and rude to crying uncontrollably the next. I hate it. I thought there was something wrong with me. I've stopped immediately. I just want a pill whe...

Y’all, so I was previously on Microgestion and Junel and had ZERO issues. I got switched to Loryna and I think I’m A crazy MAD WOMAN y’all. The first three months I literally spotted and bled for a whole month and was so nauseas every single morning I threw up quite often. I told my dr and she said stick it out because usually after 3 months it will settle down.. well during those months I also BROKEOUT worse then ever before. I literally cry and have extreme mad tantrums it seems like. I’m impatient and mad at everyone and hate everything and I’m usually so easy going. I’m on month four now the spotting has subsided, I also skip my white pills, and the acne is less then before but not gone, I use to get it on my chest really bad and it’s less then before, but I still have some acne and it’s all hormonal areas such as my chin and neck, but I am still constantly in my feelings and mad mad mad. I also like to cry at almost anything and then I sob and can’t stop until I sleep. It’s a ROLLERCOASTER. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Read More Read Less

this is the first bc i’ve been taking & i was always scared to take it because of bad side effects i would hear about. surprisingly, i havent had any. it doesnt have much impact on my mood, i used to be quite depressed but taking lory hasnt made me feel that way in a while. sometimes i get irregular spotting, & i think i gained a slight amount of weight but nothing too crazy. my skin has been consistently clear. i know everybody’s experience is different but its almost as if i never started bc which is a good thingRead More Read Less

I was taking junel Fe before and it was HORRIBLE for me. After taking this for around 2-3 years I started spotting the entire pack and it never stopped. This birth control was amazing for me until recently, it never made me moody, never gave me acne or any other side effects. I didn’t want to stop taking this however my doctor switched me to Apri so if I hate it I’ll most certainly go back to this!

I have been on BC for 18 years for PCOS and PMDD and I despise how the insurance companies and big pharma are in cahoots with each other to force us to take certain medications and make other completely out of reach because they are hundreds of dollars a month (like a frikin car payment). They do not think about people who might be allergic or have reactions to inactive ingredients in certain medication and yet, they make only Loryna widely available and all the others are scarce and I have to call all over town to find a sub. I get cramps, stomach pain, and extreme bloating with this medication and I have to told my pharmacy and my doctor several times that I react negatively to the inactive ingredients but have had several problems over the last 2 years with filling sub medications because everyone only has Loryna. I just received 3 pack of Loryna and I have to dispose of it and probably pay for it even though I have told everyone that I cannot take it. I cannot wait until there is a new medicine and Loryna is gone. Read More Read Less

ive tried twice with loryna but this is for sure the last time I will use it. these last few weeks ive been on it have been a horrible rollercoaster of emotions; everyday I wake up unsure if I will be emotionally stable or be able to control myself. I get mad and sad super easily and it feels inescapable. I really wanted this to work but my brain does not get along with these hormones. if you personally feel like you are already on the edge emotionally (me) do not take this. if you are a genuinely stable/normal happy person, give it a shot as I have no other bad symptoms (other than light spotting) but I realize I must stop this as it has even pushed me into thinking about dropping out of college (something I know I would never ever consider). im thankful im not pregnant as I got this to be at ease w my man but its definitely not worth it!Read More Read Less

I have been taking BC pills for around 6-7 years. The longest BC pill that I have been on is Loryna (5 years). When I first started taking the BC pills I was find I had no odd symptoms. After being on the pill for so long, one day there was just a a complete change in my mood swings. I was regularly upset or crying for no real reason. I began to experience crippling anxiety and depression and had no motivation to do anything I often felt like I was going psychotic for no real reason. I decided to stop taking the pill a few weeks ago and am hoping that all of these symptoms will go away over time. I would not recommend taking this BC. I have never felt so on edge in my life. I'm 20 with endometriosis and Loryna has been great! I skip the white pills to skip my period. The first 1-3 months were a tad rough as I was just very moody and unstable, but otherwise had no bad experiences. It's cleared my acne and I don't notice any mood changes now. However, it possibly has made me gain a little weight but not enough for it to be a problem maybe 5-7 pounds. The only negative thing about it is my sex drive, it's dropped very dramatically. I'm young and in a healthy and normally highly sexually active relationship and my body and brain just do not react the way they used to. My partner has been very loving and understanding, but it has affected me mentally which might be something to look out for if that's a concern. One more thing to add, my body does spot and have to have a natural period every 3-4 months. While this isn't an issue for me as I would rather only have a period every once in a while than every month, and the birth control has been overall pretty good, I know that isn't ideal for others wants and needs. I've been on the birth control for almost 8 months and have had to have 2 natural periods.Read More Read Less

My gynecologist prescribed Loryna to me for my PCOS symptoms. All the medication did for me was make me lose my appetite, gave me major headaches, made me nauseous to the point I vomited.

If your main concern is acne this is a great birth control for that. It cleared up my acne in less than two months however it came with some other issues. I am also someone who struggles with very heavy periods and while it did make them lighter they were often just as long, sometimes eight or nine days. I took this birth control for about a year and it wasn't until about six months of taking it until I had no sex drive whatsoever. That and feeling constantly sad was the worst part of it. I only stayed on it so long because I had tried so many other birth controls and I really liked not having acne. However its not worth being sad and never wanting to have sex with your partner. Would not recommend. Read More Read Less

I love this birth control, it’s my favorite out of all the kinds I’ve tried over the last decade. Helped clear my acne which has been bad since I was a kid, now I only get a couple breakouts before/during my period. It didn’t cause much weight gain if any although my boobs are definitely a bit bigger. My periods only last 2-3 days and they’re very light. My only cons are that I think my cramps are a little bit worse (but still totally bearable), and I get a little bit moodier than I normally would aka I get a lot more sensitive before my period and cry more easily lol. I’ve been taking it for about a year now and I say it’s worth trying, but keep in mind everyone’s body is different. Read More Read Less

Due to heavy bleeding and needing blood transfusion, and after having used IUD with no help, I switched to loryna..at first it was ok, but let me tell you 2nd month of using it, I started bleeding, period is on day 13 and no signs of stopping, so I’m wondering what I’m controlling. I’m having episodes of being really tired and messed up emotions . I know they say to give birth control time, but No..I’m done with this one. And I don’t know what to do, because I need something to control my bleeding. Read More Read Less

I was recommended this pill from my doctor to help with my awful period cramps, and the last pill I was on (I forget what it was) worked fine, I just gained a few pounds and was bloated so I wanted to switch. The first month on Loryna was fine, I felt ok and I didn't notice anything other than being a little bit agitated sometimes. My period came 1 week early, and did not stop the rest of the time I was on the pill. The second and third month were horrible. While on the pill I hated myself, and I was having very depressive thoughts, none of which I had before starting this pill, and this effected the people around me because I would always be in a horrible mood. I gained (I swear) almost 15 pounds, which I lost after getting off of the pill, and I am guessing it was water retention. My face was always swollen, I had horrible bags under my eyes, my stomach was always bloated, and I had no energy whatsoever. The pill helped with my cramps and was fine when it came to preventing pregnancy, but the side effects for me were horrible and I did not feel like me while on this pill, but more like a sluggish, angry, depressed monster. The first day of not taking the pill I immediately stopped bleeding, and within a month of stopping I lost most of the weight I gained. overall, I had a horrible experience with this pill, and I know it isn't the same for everyone, but I would not recommend this pill for anyone that does horribly with hormonal side effects. Ive been on loryna for four years now. It cleared up my acne within a few weeks, my sex drive dropped a bit but not too bad long as I kept on a schedule my moods or body didn’t change. I was also put on it for weight gain. I did have changes in appetite that went back to normal. And I have way less cramps than I ever had before. But all in all it has been the best BC I’ve ever been on.

I was on Gianvi for almost a year until CVS gave me Loryna. I read online that they had the same active ingredients but different inactive ingredients so I wasn't too worried. About two weeks on the pill I began to bleed and was not expecting my period to start for three weeks. I bled for the entire 3 and a half months before I finally went to my pharmacist. In those three months I had random dizziness (even when I was just sitting down) and I had horrible chest pains. I was so scared I went to the doctor and had them run a bunch of tests that came back normal. I got my blood drawn, an echocardiogram, and multiple EKG tests. I will say my skin was clear and I never one had a pregnancy scare. When I switched back to Gianvi I immediately stopped bleeding. I no longer had chest pains and dizziness. Unfortunately, Gianvi was discontinued and I am hoping that Vestura works out for me. But do not let me persuade you, everyone's body is different. Read More Read Less

I've been on the medication for only 3 days and let me tell you this is the worse birth control you can ever be prescribed. Last night I had so much pain in my chest , nausea , & very dizzy. Here I am at the hospital.

This specific medication for me is very effective and I did have less cramps while on my cycle. The downside of the medication is it has really done a number on my sex drive, mood, and weight gain. After sticking with the medication for about 2 years, I’ve realized it was the medication that was the actual reason I didn’t have a sex drive or why I was very moody.

The downsides to this drug—slight weight gain and decreased interest in sex—are outweighed by the tremendous positive impact on my mood, effectiveness in preventing pregnancy, and that it improves my skin. I feel much more even keeled than before I took this and my PMS is much improved.

I’ve tried basically every birth control under the sun. I’ve had horrible acne, depression and anxiety, insomnia, weight gain.. basically every side effect. I was really hesitate getting on loryna because of not only my past experiences but the reviews of blood clots and spider veins. I am just starting my fourth pack (about 2 1/2) weeks in bc I skip the placebo. But my skin has cleared significantly, no change in mood and I’m feeling amazing. The first month I had weird chest pain and horrible breakout that I had never had before but other than that everything has been amazing! Definitely recommend if your derm tells you that your acne is hormonal! It really clears it up!Read More Read Less

After reading reviews, I was super nervous to start this birth control. I couldnâ??t afford YAZ due to it being a $300 a month, so I figured Iâ??d try Loryna. Iâ??m so happy I did. My acne has cleared, I havenâ??t gained weight because of this birth control, and it works just like any other BC; youâ??re not getting pregnant.
