My atrophy was so bad that I couldn't sit comfortably. Premarin cream did nothing. Osphena is a miracle for me. But Medicare won't cover it! It's made for Senior women so it's foolish that Medicare doesn't cover it. Medicare covers Viagra! Are Senior men supposed to have sex with 30 year old women?

I chose a new GYN Dr. due to the fact that I felt I was not getting the help I was asking for based on extremely painful intercourse. My new Dr. put me on Osphena, and after being on it for 10 days, I realized that I was having extreme anxiety, but I did not relate it to this medication. I suffer from severe depression, and I just thought it had been a really tough year in ALL aspects of my life. ...

I have been taking it for about a year and have not noticed any difference--intercourse is still very painful!!! I haven't had any stomach issues or diarrhea as other reviewers mentioned.

I did not experience any stomach distress. This worked as described after two weeks and improved in third week. If I had to be off of if for a week I noticed the return of dryness. If off for two weeks the original condition returned. This is an expensive RX so I cannot always afford to stay on it. I have reccommended it to my close friends.

I have been taking this medication for about 2 weeks. You can feel something hormonal happening and i have had some sporadic trips to the bathroom but all in all this product makes sexual relations better than ever experienced. Very very happy with this product.

I have only been on this medication for 4 days and am already experiencing severe intestinal cramping and diarrhea. Don't think it will be worth it. Do these symptoms go away over time or just get worse? Can't put up with this.

I have found Osphena to be moderately effective in relieving painful intercourse. I experience mildly annoying side effects such as intermittent muscle cramps and twitches, minimal vaginal discharge, hot flashes (but I had them before Osphena, so I'm not sure the drug caused an increase). I weigh the positive effect (less painful intercourse) with the side effects, which are not that bad, and choose to continue taking it. It helps, and although it's not 100% effective, I am content with the improved quality of intimacy with my husbandRead More Read Less

I can't really give this a rating due to the fact that I haven't started it yet because I have no idea why it was prescribed. I am not longer active and all I was asking about was some difficulty with urination which turned out to be a UTI so why would I be taking this medication? Any feedback will be appreciated

I was hesitant to take this drug. Doc assured me it would help. I just read review that mentioned problems with diarrhea while taking the drug. I have been taking osphena for one week and I have definitely experienced diarrhea. After readings about weight gain, this drug may not be worth it.

I have tried taking this drug for several months now, as I have severe vaginal dryness, painful sexual intercourse, etc. i'm only 62, and very anxious to resume relations with my very patient husband. I have searched and searched on the internet for others who have experienced the same side effects as me but have seen none. But my worst side effect is severe diarrhea. I can't believe it - why is this causing severe intestinal cramping and diarrhea in me? I've gone off the med 2x - my symptoms cleared up - but went back on, thinking it had to be in my head...then the diarrhea/cramping starts again. so frustrating! i've also noticed that i'm getting more and more weepy, the longer i try to take osphena. I'm ready to give up once and for all. has anyone else experienced the diarrhea? if it was just the depression, i'd keep taking it - but i can't hardly deal with running to the bathroom on a moment's notice. severe cramping - then off i dash to the nearest toilet - rather embarrassing. kinda tough to feel like having sex when you are also dealing with this side effect!Read More Read Less

I have been using Osphena for more than two years. It has relieved the painful sexual intercourse that I suffered due to menopause. I use Ospena and a twice weekly application of Replens and sex it terrific again.

This is the easiest of the treatments to use and has at least taken the edge off the pain, but I have gained about 10 pounds in two months. I know it is from this drug because this is my second time trying it. I went on it a few years ago when trying all of the different treatments. I had the same lack of effectiveness from all of them. This year I decided to try for a cure again and (because I didn't stay on it last time after a 3 pound gain) I forgot why I went off of this drug. I remembered that it was only taking the edge off, but that was true of all of them and this was the easiest. As soon as I started taking it and gaining weight, I thought about googling to see if others had experienced this. Then it all came back to me. I googled it years ago and could find little info on a connection, so 2 months in I'm continuing to gain weight. I thought I could over come the side effects by dieting, but it's not working. Which should I choose? A slim body or sex? Only Sophie has had to make a more agonizing choice. If others have gained weight, please post here because there is very little info out there about this particular side effect. Read More Read Less

I gained 6 pounds in 4 months on Osphena, I was irritable, had interrupted sleep, terrible night sweats and achy joints. I didn't realize the weight gain and side effects were from the medicine. The medication did work for me by providing more lubrication, whereby intercourse was not painful. I have discontinued use due to the side effects I'm experiencing, along with other potential, much more harmful side effects.

Unable to have sex for 5 years. I had 2 female doctors diagnose independently severe vaginal atrophy. I tried Premarin which was messy and I experienced side effects. I started taking Osphena and was able to have comfortable intercourse at 11 weeks. I was amazed that it was even possible!! Other then a little bit of fluid retention for the first 2 weeks, there have been NO adverse side effects for me as others have reported. Don't know if it is just an added benefit, but not only is my desire for sex stronger then ever, but natural lubrication is also better then it ever was. Bottom line, this drug has been amazing for me. It returned to our marriage something we thought was gone forever. And being able to once again enjoy and appreciate something very special with the man I love is truly wonderful. I understand some of the concerns of patients and the drug manufacturers, and will always be very vigilant about my own health and well being. I have read the complaints about the cost(I utilize the Osphena savings card), but I feel that it has been a very small price to pay for something so priceless. Read More Read Less

On meds for 2 wks and developed horrible rash upper thighs, lower abd, and under arms. No other changes in meds or medical history. No other side effects. Not sure if it would help as intended as I stopped taking immediately. Not worth the side effects for me.

After 2 weeks, pain has diminished before and after intercourse. I am fearful of the side effects, but as a breast cancer survivor, my options are severely limited.

Within 2 days of taking the drug I started having hot flashes again. Vaginal discharge and irritable sleeping patterns for the 2 weeks on the drug. Stop taking and all the symptoms are gone. I do not recommend. Side effects do not outweigh the benefits.

The drug did make intercourse much better and less painful, however, the side effects after only taking 7 days were terrible. I experienced swollen and painful joints, depression, 4 pounds in 7 days weight gain, trouble sleeping and severe hot flashes! This drug should not be on the market.
