I used Ortho Evra for years, had to switch because new insurance wouldn't cover it. Until the generic came out. then I switched back. I see bad reviews, but I don't have a bad review for this medication. It can take a body 3 months to adjust to birth control. Generic's inactive ingredients are slightly different than the brand, so that probably accounts for many people's bad side effects. My a...

Like others, Xulane showed up unexpectedly at my front door when my mail order came in one month instead of Ortho Evra. For the first month it appeared to be a decent patch. The second month went okay as well it seemed. Side note: the Xulane patch does not re-stick at all once it peels off even just the tiniest bit. Ortho Evra does stick back on. When I put on my first patch for the start of the t...

I had no problem with this birth control until they changed the packaging and the patch itself. i only get 3 patches a month and every time i would get into water, the patch would come off without me touching it at all.. i would go through all 3 patches in a week and wouldn’t be able to get any until the next month. when i get on any form of birth control, i expect it to work at least this is ridiculous.

I had TWO strokes on this. I don't drink or smoke. I was 19 and avid with my diet/fitness. The insisted that it couldn't be from the only medication I took, but other women have died from the patch from STROKE! After coming off I now have post birth control PCOS. I wish I never touched this poison.

I started this because my periods were super irregular.. I’ve been using it for a year and I loved how it worked until I grew to be incredibly unhappy with my body and how I looked and I narrowed it down to the birth control. I’ve always been small, I was active all throughout middle school and high school. My first year of college, I struggled greatly with my irregular periods and the fear of being pregnant at a young age so I decided in June 2020 to start birth control. I obviously did my research for the best ones and I narrowed it down to the patch. It worked wonderfully. I never had problems at all with it. I was consistent and didn’t have to worry about a pill every day. I realized that I gained probably close to 15 lbs since I started this with no diet changes at all. Overall I’m happy with the effectiveness, but I’m unhappy with how it made me look. Read More Read Less

I have been using this patch since 2018 , I have never had any problems. I am allergic to latex so sometimes when I do a patch change I have to clean the area a little bit more, but I have never had an issue.

I have been on many different birth control pills before finding Xulane. I LOVE XULANE. Yes the first month can be the hardest to adjust. I experienced super tinder breast. Migraines and some slight nausea. After adjusting, its my best friend. Ive never felt more confident about a birth control till now. Ive been on it for a year now. Im 22yr old It has not effected my weight. I feel like its kept me from getting nasty breakouts. It may effect my Moods but oh well they all did Im just a crazy woman lolRead More Read Less

This patch was rubbing my skin, giving me headaches, and causing me to throw up: All of which I was trying to prevent. It also came off when it got wet.

I have been on Xulane for only 2 and a half weeks and have already removed the patch. After a few days on the patch I realized I would get morning sickness and very painful headaches that would last me all day, not to mention how sore my breast were ( I couldnt even touch) . On week two I realized that the patch was giving me very bad anxiety and bad thoughts. I was a very positive, relaxed girl before the patch. I will never use again. I am just hoping my body will regulate soon.

This is the worst patch ever! I’ve been on it for 2 weeks and I have these bad rashes on my skin where the patch was located. It itches sooooo bad!!! It doesn’t stick well! The words come off the patch once you touch it! I didn’t have these problems with my other brand!!!

I had been on this patch for several months. I continually had bad side effects. I had times where my blood pressure would skyrocket, my blood sugar woukd elevate, and I'm only 20 with no other health history that would cause it. About a week ago I started having headaches that progressed into migraines for 7 days Straight (dizziness, photosensitivity, nausea, etc) . These interfered with my daily life. After being to a doctor, I was given the standard treatment and this did not help. At home later that day, I was googling about and discovered a few stories where young women had strokes after having migraines for several days while on hormonal birth control. As a precaution I removed my patch. A day later, I'm already feeling slightly better and my headaches have lessened. I started using the patch due to having negative reactions to the pill (vomiting every morning), and for the convenience of it, but now I wouldn't recommend the patch to anyone. The risks with the side effects can be too much. They were for me.Read More Read Less

Iâ??ve been on this BC for about 1.5 years now and itâ??s great! I have trouble with pill medication, so this method is a godsend. My periods are now lighter and not nearly as painful as in the past. I do not like that the time between them has shortened from 30 days to about 22 days, but it has made knowing when my periods will be SO much easier. My doc wrote me a prescription for 3 months, unfortunately insurance will only let me have 1 month at a time, so planning around vacations is more of a challenge. Without diet and exercise changes, I have gained 15lbs over the past 1.5 years. I am also mildly allergic to adhesive, so I break out in HUGE blemishes when I use it on my shoulders, luckily this doesnâ??t happen when used on my bum, so this isnâ??t a deal breaker for me.Read More Read Less

I'm a African American woman and this was the first birth control I ever took, I started it when I was 18 and am now 20. Never experienced any bad side effects. Never got cramps but occasionally had tender breast. One time I did forget to get my prescription and ended up going off of it for a month, my period was about 2 weeks late until it started up again and I was able to restart the patch. I've never had it fall off unless I freshly applied and went to the pool, this only happened once. I opt to start a new patch on Sundays because it's easier to remember during the weekend. Favorite part is that my period is very consistent and flow is similar to before I even started the birth control, periods last about 6 days (no spotting, very consistent heavy to light flow pace). I place mine on my upper butt and switch cheeks with every weekly placement. Tried placing it on my back shoulder, got an ugly painless rash that disappeared fast after changing location. I consider myself lucky to have had to only try one type of birth control. Read More Read Less

I am on birth control for my sever Anemia and acne problem. I was originally on the pill, which in my opinion was much effective. On xulane I gained about 18 pounds and have constant break outs which I never have acne on the pill. And actually lost weight on the pill. I have weird marks where my patch would be at on my stomach. And when you get towards the end of the week the path gets miserably itchy and dirty. Even when you try to shower the adhesive stuff would just make then surrounding area of the patch look gross. It does the job though. It definitely helped me when I was on my period and not much bleeding from my periods so my anemia didn't go crazy during my cycle. If you want something effective I recommend. If you care about clear skin and weight I do not recommend.Read More Read Less

I've been using this birth control method for almost 3-4 months. I loved it, and had no problem with anything. but these past 2 weeks i'm getting super itchy, and growing small bumps under the patch when replacing them. it's very easy to use, but this has brought me to an effy point. i was doing so good for it to act up on me :'(

I had been using the birth control pill for about two years and I would frequently forget to take them! After deciding that that probably wasn't the best for my body I switched to the patch, and i love it!! It is very easy to apply, and stays on fairly well. It works great, I am so happy with this form of birthcontrol. I haven't experienced any side effects besides the usual cramping and bloating that usually comes with my period but not as bad as it would be without using birthcontrol. I would very much recommend!!Read More Read Less

I have been using Xulane in replacement of birth control pills. I usually place it on my lower waist. The birth control does work for me. I often try to switch locations of the patch placement because it can cause dark marks in area of constant use

I went on this form of B.C. due to issues that prevented me from being able to choose other forms, and I have been extremely satisfied ever since! I have been on it for 8 years now. I have never experienced any negative side effects (no acne, no weight gain, no migraines, etc.). I am very happy that I have the xulane patch!
