I have taken Miralax daily for over 10 years. My life before Miralax was miserable. Hard stools, hours in the bathroom, and many days between bowel movements. It got so bad that I would actually black out when the pain got so bad. I hope Miralax never goes away. I've tried every other stool softner, fiber supplement, etc. They taste bad, and have no impact. Miralax mixes easily into my morni...

JUST AFTER USING THIS PRODUCT FOR THE FIRST TIME, MY GRANDSON AGE 3 WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEPHROTIS SYNDROME. EVERY TIME I'VE USED IT SINCE HE'S BECAME ILL HE BECOMES PUFFY. I WONDER, DID THE MIRALAX SOMEHOW BRING THIS CONDITION ON? HE WAS PERFECTLEY HEALTHY BEFORE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SOME CONSTAPATION. HE'S BEEN SICK FOR THREE MONTHS NOW. HE USED THE MIRALAX FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO GETTING IL...

On 11/25/13 I gave this product a poor rating. Since then I have used it as directed by my doctor and I am very satisfied. At my age I use it about twice a week with no side effects.

We gave Miralax to my 4-year-old son at the advice of his doctor to treat suspected constipation that was causing bed wetting (though he didn't have any other symptoms of constipation). Within a few hours of his first dose, he developed stomach cramps and a low grade fever.

Haven't used this medication yet. My doctor wants me to use this for before a colonoscopy. He calls for 3 doses of 4 capfuls during the first day. Really wary because this seems like a lot. Anyone ever had to do this?

I was supposed to take this as colonoscopy prep. I took one 4-oz drink and 15 minutes later had an anaphylactic reaction. Fortunately it was treated successfully. I will never go near polyethylene glycol again.

I had taken magnesium oxide (Phillips caplets)for a number of years. They suddenly stopped working and I was constipated and in pain for days. I saw a doctor who had dealt with this for 33 years and he told me to take Miralax daily. He said that it is the only laxative that is not habit forming. I took it for about 2 days before it began to work. I now take it daily and have regular bowel movements without effort once daily. As far as I am concerned, it is a miracle drug.

I have a colon that blocks due to twisting post liver surgery. The Miralax does clear the blockage but I experience painful cramping and bloating.

I had constipation for years, sometimes I didn't have a bowel movement for 5 months!!! I tried all kinds of fiber cereals, but I was always gassy, with the stinkiest gas that my family hated! I gained 5 pounds even though I exercised daily. I had a colonoscopy that was normal. My doctor prescribed a med that was expensive, but said I could try Miralax as an alternative. I didn't want to take a prescription for the rest of my life is there was an alternative. It has been a miracle drug for me! I use one capful every day in my coffee, but it dissolves easily in cold milk or juice too. It really has no taste and doesn't feel greasy in my mouth like another product I tried. If I don't use it for a couple days, I will not have a bm. My doctor says it works by drawing liquid into your bowel so it is not weakening your muscles overtime like some other laxatives. It is even safe to use twice a day if you do not go after one use. The only downside is that sometimes the stool is very soft, almost like diarrhea, and when you feel like you need to go, you better find a bathroom or else. But, to me it's very very effective and as you take it regularly, you will better understand the dosing you need for your condition. Definately recommend! Read More Read Less

Mixed occasionally with fruit to make smoothie for constipation. Today I have used it to prepare of my colonoscopy. Has been so easy on my stomach. And effective. I've seen my parents & other friends/family go thru horrid pre - colonoscopy preps. This has been so much better.

I have been taking this drug off and on for years. I started taking it in 2007 by Rx while going through chemo. I have also been having neurological problems. These have escalated drastically over the last 14 months to the point of being debilitating. I've seen several different doctors and had all sorts of test. The diagnosis was leaning toward MS with spinal seizures. After a stomach attack which was diagnosed as bowel inflammation, I came off of Miralax. After a few days of not experiencing any neurological symptoms, I decided to stay off of it to see if it was the culprit. It's now been 7 weeks since I had my last dose and 7 weeks since my last seizure. I feel so much better. Will never take again !!! Read More Read Less

Required dosage was 64oz water mixed with the Miralax 8.+ oz. taking 8oz every 10 to 15 mins. After 40 oz I felt like vomiting, my breathing came rapidly, I was cold and started shaking. I stopped taking it and got better after 2 hrs. I continued to take the last 2 pills of Dulcolax. Tomorrow Tues April 8,2014 my colonoscopy is set for 10am I still feel very nauseated and feel like throwing up, except I have nothing in my stomach. I had a colonoscopy 5 years ago and did not feel like this. But I did not take these two laxatives, I feel rotten. it is 12 midnight and my appointment is at 9:30, I hope I can sleep a little. I have suffered from Crohn's Disease for 11 years now. As of lately, my medication (Humira) has put me in remission, though I developed a chronic fissure. I have tried stool softeners, etc... but nothing has worked for me as well as Miralax. I think the fissure is finally healing and I couldn't be happier.

I've been taking Miralax for 8, almost 9 years. I was born with an enlarged colon, with no bowel activity after years of harsh laxatives, and nothing I did ever seemed to work, not until I started taking this. It's easy to use and tasteless, so that's always a plus. But a few years ago I started losing weight and my hair (I was 22!) and I didn't know what was going on, until I talked to my doctor. The same doctor that originally said I should take it indefinitely, changed her story and said that the laxative can deplete your vitamins and minerals, which can cause weight loss, hair loss, blood conditions, and so many other things. She said that I should NOT take it indefinitely, because it can and will make you lose your mucous membrane in your large intestine, which will leave you prone to cancer. I am lucky that it did give me my bowel activity back and I only need to take it once a week (instead of every day). But I am worried about the long term effects of polyethylene glycol.Read More Read Less

I got strange side effects with daily Miralax. I had a metallic taste in my mouth that was very unpleasant and around midday (I took it in the morning) I began to feel exhausted. I do take synthroid and it seemed as if it was knocking out the effectiveness of that medication and making me tired as if I was hypothyroid. When I stopped taking Miralax both symptoms disappeared.
