This medication takes away most of my pain away. I have tried many different kinds of opiates and this one is amazing. It doesn't make me dizzy at all and it works great for all.my pain

This is not going to be a positive review. If WebMD has a problem with that- tough. I am a patient who is taking this garbage. The first day it made me sleepy and had a tremendous headache. The second day I broke into a rash that won't go away. This is the most expensive, ineffective medication I've had the misfortune of being talked into by my doctor. To think I trusted his "knowledge" re: effic...

Takes an incredibly long time to get in your system then the release of the medication is up and down over the next several hours.

Tried to post a review before, but I don't think Web MD wants anymore complaining about this medication. It takes hours to work and it only lasts for a couple of hours. It is worthless!

Takes 4 hours for this med to start working, then it hit's you very hard - break out in heavy sweating then only last 4 hours if that much. These med should be taken off the market. Been on OxyContin for 10 years with a break threw med and works great but Xtrampza does not work worth a you know what. Xtrampza is a worthless so drug that is for pain and long acting - what a lie.

It does nothing to abate my pain. Causes me to not be able to concentrate and my work has suffered. The only addiction I have is to food and shelter. And this medicine may well be screwing that up as my work performance suffers. I have had stronger TicTacs.

I am a 28 y/o female who has been taking narcotics since 18 after a bad spinal injury. Thatâ??s a long time, and my tolerance is unfortunately very high. Iâ??m still very young and my oxycodone 20mg were wearing off after 3-4 hours. I felt helpless, so we tried the ER in conjunction with the oxycodone immediate release and Iâ??ve never felt better. A HUGE negative is that itâ??s been almost 3 months and Iâ??m still not adjusted to it! I fall asleep driving, or can sleep longer than a day at a time, it almost cost me my job. Fingers crossed I can adjust, until then Iâ??m only taking it every other day at most. Read More Read Less

This medication was given to me to compliment the other pain pills I was taking daily. The amount of prn pain pills I was taking has decreased dramatically since I started Xrampza. My only complaint is that I can't sleep at night. My mind is wide awake. Being exhausted from lack of sleep has causes headaches but those are the only side effects I have noticed. I also don't take mine with food, only because I keep forgetting it needs to be taken with a meal.

Dr. called this drug a new age opioid that works better than what I was on, which was oxicodone 10/325 4 times daily. It has caused me severe headaches, which I never had before taking this medication. I made mistakes of taking with small meal, was dizzy, and felt nauseous. They claim these meds work for 12 hours, but they wear off between 6 and 7 hours..It's been 3 months and doctor has already changed dosage 4 times. I'm starting to feel like a lab rat, as with each change in dosage effects me in a negative way. This is not a new age drug,I'm thankful that it works for some, but I'm tired of feeling tired all the time, with very little relief, and major side effects..Read More Read Less

I was taking Oxycodone 80 mg. 3x per day and that seemed to help me lead a somewhat normal life. Then I had to change Pain mgmt providers. My new Dr. asked if I had heard of Xtampza ER, he asked me to try it. We are still adjusting the dosage and times per day, but it seems to be working well. It is lasting closer to 12 hrs. per dose. It also seems that I can get the same pain relief with fewer mgs. Before I started new Dr. my old Dr. was weaning me down on Oxycodone. He had me down to 40 mgs. and now I only need to take 27 mgs. of the Xtampza.Read More Read Less

I have used opioids for about six years for a bad shoulder replacement, herniated disk in my neck and herniated disk in my lower back about two weeks ago the Doctor said he had to change my Meds. Xtampza ER 18mg was the new med I have taken it as prescribed my pain level is higher, I go into withdrawals after about six hours, I now have bad headaches and because of the withdrawals I haven't had a full nights sleep for two weeks. what a wonderful Medication HA!

I was taking 40mg oxycontin x2, and 15mg IR oxycodone, for chronic mid-lower back and leg pain, my NP at pain mgmt., gave me nucynta, holy cow no good, then I went back with continued pain gave me 9mg, extampza, I asked for my regular meds, they had the audacity to tell me to go to rehab, I told them I was going to call my Atty. next week I go a discharge letter, so after getting meds for 10 years, im stripped of all except extampza for 10 more days, and I cant see anyone in pain mgmt., till Aug, 29,2017 I got the shaft, to say the least, Im sure the upcoming withdrawals wont be any fun. thanks Advanced Pain Mgmt.Read More Read Less

The second day I broke into a rash that won't go away. This is the most expensive, ineffective medication I've had the misfortune of being talked into by my doctor. To think I trusted his "knowledge" re: efficacy of xTampza. He didn't even know that Embeda was recalled four times and possibly a fifth. He was going to prescribe this expensive, yet dangerous medication. People were going into withdrawals and getting no pain relief- even though someone "salted" the reviews with positive stars. But, no reason as to why they were prescribed the med and no reason as to why it worked so well for them. When 5 people out of 1738 say it worked for them- I tend to doubt their review.Read More Read Less

I have horrific pain from degenerative herniated discs and inoperable roto-cuff tears. This med was given to me at its lowest dose (9). It didn't work at all at first and gave me nausea as well. I promised to give it a chance. Once I started taking it twice a day and with a fatty meal it did work somewhat, but not nearly for 12 hours. Took well over an hour to start working and only lasted maybe 6 hours total. It did provide some relief but I needed to supplement with breakthru IR meds, 2 or 3 times a day. Its disconcerting that one must take this med with a very fatty meal...but it is very true..It simply will not work otherwise..you have been warned!!! It doesn't mess with your head like regular oxy IR's can, so it gets Kudos for that, but otherwise its a barely satisfactory extended release med in its 9mg form, anyway.Read More Read Less

I had bariatric surgery years ago, and can not eat a full meal or any fat or sugar.. this med takes 2 hours to even start working, and doesn't help relieve any pain. It also doesn't cover 12 hours. My high fat meal is a piece of toast with peanut butter.. and that is pushing it!

This medication is difficult to take unless you are on a normal to high fat diet. The drug absorbs better and works better when eaten with a lot of food with higher fat content. For a person dieting, as myself, I do NOT eat hardly any fat at all and live on yogurt and salad so I do not get the benefit from the drug that I am supposed to.
