I have used Avalide for almost 20 years now & have never had to change the dose & have never had a problem. My family also has high blood pressure & every time i talk to them they are changing it & they can't seem to find the one for them. I printed out the info on Avalide Oral & mailed it to them in hopes they will ask thier Dr. to at least give it a try. I think this drug by far is the best for people with high blood pressure. When my pressure did have to be regulated due to my age change, i was put on a higher dose for a short time & then back on the owest dose. Overal, with the proper diet & exercise, i think this drug is very, very effective with no side effects at. I highly recommend Drs. try it on all thier patients first & begin with the lower dose so people can get use to it. As far as i am concerned, i would never try any other high blood pressure medicine.Read More Read Less

I have had high blood pressure for 8 years now since my back surgery.Ive been fighting social security for my benifits because i cant work.I cant even buy my high blood pressure meds.my friends get it for me.mine runs uncontroled at 180/111.The government dont give a crap about weather you die or live !We are just a number to them!I have 5 doctors that say im totaly disabled because of my back and other things but the government has denied me my disabled social security 2 times already and now i have to wait upto 2 years just to see a judge on my case!the government just cares about saving a buck or two.Im with no money to pay the light bill and we will be homeless soon because of back tax's on my home.my home is paid off thank god but ill probally loose it.its bad when a person like me has to worry about paying taxs when he cant even pay for the needed medication just to stay alive.all my meds are paid for by the insurance company except my high blood pressure medication. they fought that in court saying thats not part of the injury.I will check back and rate this when i see what it does. PEOPLE PLEASE START WORRYING ABOUT YOUR FUTURE! Don't think if you get hurt on the job everything will be ok.from the time you get hurt it takes upto 5 years just to get your social security if at all!!!they will take it to the end fighting you every step of the way!My lawyers say i WILL get it but i have to wait it out!they expect you to live with family and friends that 5 years.if you dont have someone else working at home to pay the bill/tax's you will loose everything you got.I HAVE !but they dont care!they told me thats what back pay is for!what you loose is more than the back pay !!!95% of all claims are denied 1st time,85% get denied the 2nd time.then they make you wait as long as they can just to see a ss judge where 80-90% finally get there ss with back pay.SS just hopes they can put you in so much of a bind where you do go back to work! Its all a game to them!!Read More Read Less

My Dr. switched me to this drug 3 weeks ago, and I just started having cramps and acid reflux symptoms-esoecially ub the left side under my rib cage.It is a horrible feeling. When I was on anothee HBP med, I experienced the same thing as my body adjusted, and I was switched to a lower dosage. My Dr. switched because he felt the old med may be causing coughing;with this med I have not experienced that, which is the only good thing!

The only thing I have experienced is blurred vision (mornings but not daily) and some numbness at night. Otherwise, my blood pressure has been perfect.

My Dr. first prescribed 300/12.5 mg dose, and it worked fine. I suggested trying the lower dose, 150/12.5 mg, and it also worked with no side effects. My only problem was the high cost of the brand name

I have history of depression and with its side effects, I believe it is increasing my tiredness, depressive feelings and adding to sexual difficulties. I believe these things occur with most BP meds, though. I am considering going off of it to see if things improve at all.
