I have been taking Evoxac for dry mouth due to Sjogren's syndrome for a couple of years. I started out taking it once or twice a day, but now take it 3 times daily, as the effect does not last long. I try to take it with food, because on an empty stomach it kicks in very quickly and powerfully--too much effect at once! It is only helpful for 2-4 hours after each dose, but better than nothing. I ha...
My energy level drops to zero in less than 1 hour of taking evoxac, stay nauseous which causes me to over eat and the RX helps my sore mouth but the side effects over ride any benefits. I gained 10 lbs. before i realized i was eating to keep from throwing up.

Took the drug for dry mouth after a virus affected my sense of smell and left me with a dry mouth/burnt tongue feeling. The drug makes me very dizzy and shaky. I can't drive or function well. I am on a beta blocker for blood pressure. Going off evoxac after just over a week. Gives me tingly feeling in my mouth and does help produce more saliva, but side affects are not worth it for me.

Until my Rheumatologist prescribed me this med, I had no idea just how dry my mouth really was! I couldn't believe the first time I took it how quickly it worked and voila, I could actually spit for the first time in three years! Now I am no longer "married" to my water bottle. Also, it has helped a lot with controlling chronic oral thrush. The downside of this is the sweating. I have to time it just right so I'm not dealing with this really annoying side effect while trying to go to sleep. Also, this stuff is really expensive (can't wait for the generic!) but despite these things, it is so worth it for me. It has made a tremendous difference for me and is a mainstay in my drug arsenal to fight this crazy condition.Read More Read Less

I had to start this drug because my dr. would not be willing to change my HTN meds.If it wasn't for this med I would have taken myself off my meds because of the unbearable side effect of dry mouth.

Radiation for tonsil cancer resulted in xerostomia. I found Evoxac preferable to Salagen. It is more effective, with less side effects.

Taken 2 to 3 times a day, this medication is the difference between whether or not I have enough saliva to eat food and prevent sores inside my mouth. It's been a real lifesaver. I have not noticed any side effects.
