I did a ton of research on birth control options, and was really excited abour Mirena. The insertion was slightly uncomfortable, and I had fairly heavy spotting for the first month -- both of which weren't that big a deal. My big complaint: it FELL OUT after 30 days! I have had the IUD in for almost two years. The first 9 months was okay, there was a lot of spotting, but other than that it was fine. But in the last year I've gained 40 pounds, had trouble sleeping, I've totally lost my sex drive, gotten acne and been having horrible mood swings. It was simple to use, had it inserted by my doctor in about 10 min. I had pretty intense cramps for a few days afterward. I still do have cramping every once in a while during and after sex, but it is still worth it.

Very good birth control. I've had it for almost 3 years and I have some pain,I spot it seems with the season change, nothing heavy.A little scared about having it removed although putting it in was not that bad.
