I was fed up with hellish sores on my face so next time I was prepared: had a tube at work and at home, so next time it started tingling I applied Abreva right away, and it's been 48 hours, not a single blister popped out! It still itches and tingles but winding down, but comparing to the last time I had sheer hell and ugliness all over my face I can't praise this thing enough. Worth it!!

I tried Abreva numerous times, with very, very little effect. I have now been getting a prescription cream called Denavir for years, which helps much more. My dr says that studies show it doesn't work, but try to tell that to me and both of my daughters. Getting it on there right away is key!! I tried Abreva numerous times, with very, very little effect. I have now been getting a prescription cream called Denavir for years, which helps much more. My dr says that studies show it doesn't work, but try to tell that to me and both of my daughters. Getting it on there right away is key!! Also, keep in mind that you're only supposed to put it right on the cold sore. Not your entire lips. Also, make sure you wash your hands before applying, and then after. I know you're not "supposed" to do this, but honestly what has helped me if a blister has already formed, is I burn the end of a needle to sterilize first. I let it cool, I have a tissue ready, and I pierce the blister and carefully squeeze the liquid (loaded with virus! be careful!) out and catch it right away with the tissue. Then I immediately put the Denavir on it and rub it in really well. Repeat. Denavir is NOT cheap. However, it's much, much stronger than Abreva. Even if you did this method with Abreva, I'm guessing it would work better than otherwise. I always carry Denavir with me, you just never know when one will pop up! * Disclaimer: This is what's worked for me. Use at your own risk :)

My (very) occasional cold sore was healed in 2 days. The sore almost disappeared after one day and lip swelling never occurred. I find this product amazing, though I realize it might not work for everyone. The pump is horrible. It pumps out way too much ointment for each use. I semi-cured this by pulling the pump nozzle head off and depressed the exposed stem ever-so-slightly with my thumb nail ... Show Full Comment

Took a little getting used to, but worked much better for dispensing the proper amount. I will definitely buy the little tube next time because, at a relative price of $314 per ounce, you don't want to waste this!
