I am allergic to amoxicillin and sulfa drugs. Zpac is a lifesaver for me and it works so quickly. I always feel better after the first day of taking it. I have had no side effects.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THIS DRUG!! Yes it is a common antibiotic, but if you are like me, you should not take it. I have an allergy to amoxil and any others in its family. I took this drug for a simple sore throat, I was on day 4 of it and thought it was time I saw a doctor. They tested me for Strep and it came back negative, but they gave me an antibiotic anyway. Within 30 mins of taking the firs...

Was administered two 300 mg at about 9:30p and it is nearly 12 hrs later and I still have a migraine. I even tried to sleep it off, which usually helps but Z-Pak just affects me that way.

My 18 month old daughter was put on this medication by my pediatrician. I was a little hesitant because the first time she was put on it for an ear infection she reacted VERY slowly!! I told my pediatrician this, but she still decided it was the best one to put her on. Needless to say 48 hours later when my daughter was still spiking a high fever, not sleeping and miserable she was taken off of it and put on a different antibiotic. In talking to my sister-in-law whose 2 year old son had to go to an ENT for tubes, he told her Zithromaz is the least effective antibiotic to treat pediatric ear infections. I wanted to let other parents know this to avoid the pain of what my daughter went through.Read More Read Less

I'll be honest in that I outwardly groaned when I found out this was the medication my doctor was prescribing for me. The last time I took it I was so ill from the side effects (nausea, stomach pain, diarreah) that I vowed never take it again. I'm having surgery next week though so I really had no choice but to do the quick thing. I read online and this time took the pills each time with a FULL meal (lunch or dinner) and followed up an hour or so later with a yogurt. It has helped immensely! I felt nearly 100% better within 24 hours. I still had a little bit of stomach pain after the first dose, but otherwise my intestines are hanging in there. I would definitely be willing to use it again! Read More Read Less

This is the only antibiotic that works on my ear infections. One thing to remember. Stay away from all dairy while taking the pills, especially 2 hours before and after. It causes a lot of the stomach pains and diarrhea. This includes anything with cheese or milky substances, like mac n cheese out of the box.

The diagnosis of whooping cough was a guess, I was never tested. My symptoms were an intense dry cough with fever (between 99-102); fever lasted 5 days. The second day my system reacted to the Z-pak with diarrhea. I had mild nausea while on the medication. Following the last dose of the Z-pak, however, the nausea continued more severely for a week and a half, only in the mornings and accompanied by a bad headache, most severe each day for the week and a half. The headache and nausea always passed by 10am, but they would return the next morning. I don't know that I'll ever take this drug again. Read More Read Less

I have an irregular heartbeat at times but this product caused my heart to go crazy for two days before I looked up possible side affects and this was one of them. I wasn't on it long enough to know if if would work or not.

I have been on the z-pack before but I just got off of other antibiotics for some female problems so my immune system is down. I am taking the z-pack for a sinus infection and an ear infection. After my first dose (2 pills) I had abdominal pain and diarrhea for the first day. It felt horrible. I have never had this side effect before while on the z-pack, the only thing I can think of to explain the sudden side effects is the other antibiotics I was on 2 weeks ago that weakened my immune system. I was put on Zithromax for Strep Throat. I have been put on it before, and have had bad headaches with it. On day 4 of this current treatment however; i woke up with swollen ears, eyes, cheeks, nose, lips, and throat. I had to be rushed to the ER as my nasel passages were closing up and i couldnt even swallow my own spit. I broke out in hives from scalp to toe. Solid masses covering most of my body. They gave me high doses of steriods to help with the hives... but they lasted for days. Redness and new hives are still coming and going, and its been 3 weeks. This drug can be a great help, but if you start experiencing any of the bad side effects get to the ER right away. It's just not worth losing your life over, because you dont want to make a big thing out of something little.Read More Read Less

I took the first days dosage which was 2 pills of 250 mg each and it made me so sick, i could not stand, lay down, sit down without feeling like i was going to vomit, fall over, get all light-headed and dizzy, got horrible stomach pains that made it extremely hard to breathe. I will not be finishing this medication. It is also prescribed for my son but before he has some horrible side effets from this horrible zithromax we wil be throwing it all out and going back to the doctor for something that works without making you feel 100x worse in the meantime. He is only 2 and I will not have him going through something as horrible as I just went through. So be aware that this medicine may work fine on some people, but on others it is horrible. If you look this medicine up on different sites, you'll no doubtedly read that it is an extremely small percentage that suffers from these horrible side effects, but they must not have asked the right people.Read More Read Less
