I had a lot of problems with ortho tri-cyclin lo. The most troublesome being severe dizziness and constant nausea. These symptoms were so intense the first week of taking the pill, I thought I obtained a virus or disease. After three months of no birth control and not getting my period, my gynocoligest gave me a trial pack of brand name Loestrin. Loestrin was not only better than ortho tri-cyc...

I have taking microgestin for about 7 months now. I've seen a lot of bad reviews, but I've had no problems with it. In fact, I'm very happy with it and don't plan on changing any time soon. I've had no bad side effects. The only noticeable thing would be a lower sex drive, but that is manageable. My periods are lighter and only last about 3 days. I haven't gained any weight, and my skin is relatively clear. And the most important thing, I am not pregnant (knock on wood). So it's doing its job without any bad side effects. I definitely reccomend, but every body will react differently so be careful. Read More Read Less

This medication has worked well for me in terms of preventing pregnancy. My biggest complaints are that I am frequently bloated, i've gained weight, I never get my period and it has not helped my acne at all. Other than these issues it has worked well and only affected my mood when I first started it.

This birth control gave me a very weird, tight feeling in my legs and chest. It felt like someone was pinching my skin every so often. It usually happened when I was sitting down, or driving. I would massage my legs, but the pinching feeling kept coming back. It was very scary when I felt it in my chest. I quit taking this pill, and within a few days the feeling stopped.

After reading many negative reviews, I was terrified to start this pill. Yet I am so happy with what it has done! This is the 3rd pill I've been on and it's the only type that hasn't given me crazy side effects. My periods are now very light and only last 3 days or so. The only downside is I get a little more irritable on my period than I used to. I also have been getting some small break outs on my chin and above my upper lip (places I've never had issues with before). I have seen no decreases in my sex drive and feel great overall! I've been on this pill for 3 years and love it. Don't even notice I take a pill. Zero bad side effects for me, not pregnant, very happy with this pill. I barely get a period anymore if at all!

I have been on the birth control for 7 months and it works since I have not gotten pregnant but I have only had 1 period this whole time. Also a low sex drive. I am switching to try something different.

My period cramps before this birth control were more severe than after taking the birth control; however, on my period afterwards I had extremely increased flu like symptoms, body aches, back aches, the chills, headache everyday, no appetite, and I would throw up at least once which made my throat sore. Do not take this pill!! I went to my doctor and she said she's never seen symptoms like this before. Maybe it was just me but this was my first birth control and I do not plan on ever taking it again. Read More Read Less

I've been on this birth control for over 4 years now. I have never had a problem with it. It has helped with my heavy menstrual flow and cramps. My period is now short and right on time. I've never had an issue with my sex drive nor needing the use of lube. I would recommend this birth control to anyone.

It hasn't been horrible taking this. I had a lot of spotting the first week I began taking it, and very tender breasts pretty much the first month but since then it's subsided. I see a lot of other people have said it causes libido to go down as well as lack of lubrication. I can (quite happily) say I haven't had problems with that! My periods are also significantly "better", better meaning that I don't spend five days curled up in bed. I can be a lot more active and since I'm in college I can't afford to miss classes every month. This pill changed everything. It's not 100% perfect, and you have to be on top of taking it, not just to prevent pregnancy, but to help keep it all regulated. Hope this review helps!Read More Read Less

I have been on this birth control for about a year and a half. It is very effective for its purpose in preventing pregnancy. However the side effects are not so good. I gained over 25lbs in this time frame. Decreased sex drive. Low energy and constant feeling of not sleeping enough when I wake in the morning. Very effective but it took me too long to realize these side effects were coming from this pill. I will be switching soon. I started with the Loestrin and switched when that company changed their pill. Read More Read Less

My only complaint is that i doubled up on a pill because i missed it and now i am having stomach issues because of the extra hormones. It's been happening 3 days after i doubled up and i'm hoping it goes away soon. i have not gotten pregnant and have had no other side effects

My pharmacy switched me to Microgestin from Lomedia. I had weight loss, hair loss, and started having heart palpitations. My period was always off in regards to taking the placebo pills and I spotted often.

I've been using this pill for a few months now and it has greatly helped with my menstrual cramps tremendously. I occasionally get moody but it could be from PMSing. I also have gotten a very low sex drive and don't stay lubricated at all since I've started the pill. That would be my only complaint. Other than that, I've had a great experience.

This is the first form of birth control I've ever used and had no issues initially using the pill. My periods are now definitely shorter (they used to be 5 days long, now they are only 3 days long) and although I was fairly regular before, my period is even more regular, starting around two days after taking the last active pill. My periods aren't any less painful, though. I'd say they are now generally more painful than the average periods prior to being on birth control. However, my periods prior used to be quite varied. Being on the Microgestin, they are now all the same pretty painful three-day bleeding. I'd say the biggest change would be that I no longer produce as much vaginal mucus as I used to. Most of the time it's not a problem but a few times it's made penetration painful where I had to resort to lube (something that I never had to do before). Most importantly though, it's highly effective and I've had no issues or scares since being on it.Read More Read Less

Oh boy. Well in the last year I've been on 3 different birth controls. I had been on Ortho evra for years but started have terrible migraines from its use and bladder urgency. So then I got on the mini pill and while the bladder urgency subsided, I was constantly bleeding and spotting. Non stop for months. When I had been on the implenon a few years back, I had that same problem. So then I started this about 6 months ago and it's just been awful. The bladder urgency is terrible. I will go pee 5 times in an hour. Sometimes I'll keep having to pee or feeling like I do right after I peed. I'm always either constipated or having diahrreah. No in between. I still get the occasional migraine, I feel queasy and dizzy, especially when I go out in the sun. My legs and ankles have swelled up again and I've gained 15lbs. I have acne all over now. I have nipple discharge. I bleed and spot the week before my period is supposed to start. My depression is terrible and I cry and snap over the littlest things. I have no sex drive and cannot stay lubricated. Only two good things I can say are that my hair seems to grow faster and I'm not pregnant. I don't know what to do because none of these pills seem to work for me. I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to estrogen though. Read More Read Less

This Medication was effective, but I got a DVT in my left leg and two pulmonary embolisms from these pills only. I have no other health issues and have had every blood test available to man! I am 42 and have been on pills for years. Just be careful, know the symptoms of blood clots. From what I have read, clots are happening to people of all ages.

I got pregnant after taking this pill. It didn't work and on top of that I'm over 35 where my chances of getting pregnant decrease dramatically. This pill does not work!

Switched to this birth control after being on Lo Loestrin Fe for about a year, as it was the cheaper option. Within a few weeks, I would cry for no reason at all and feel extremely irritable at times. Then came the cramps, breast tenderness, and bloated feeling when on my period—symptoms that I never dealt with when on Lo Loestrin Fe. I have recently become depressed and stopped taking this pill. I cannot wait to switch back to my old birth control. Thought it was just my body adjusting but after 3 months I can definitely say that I am not satisfied with this pill.Read More Read Less
