I take 3-5 10/500 Vicoden tabs per day, usually spaced every 2-4 hours as needed for pain. The medicine worked great at first, only needing 1-2 per day but like others have said, you build up a tolerance and need them more frequently. I use them for chronic back pain. back pain has been an issue since i was 12 im only 21 now ans this medicie helps manage it but after so long you get immune to it and people think you are a pil head because ou end up taking it like tylenol

I started taking this drug two years ago when I broke my hip,after giving birth at age 36. If it wasnt for this drug I would not have been able to function at all. I had total hip replacement seven months ago and still take this med for lingering pain mostly at night. Even if I run out of my script early or try to stop, it is allmost imposible to tolarate the withdraw that happens to the body! But ... Show Full Comment

After a yr. on this 5/500 I got scared because I wanted more and it wasn't working as well. I went to a pain mgmt. doctor who gave me steroid shots, caudal epidurals, in my lower back. I was able to get off this drug. It depressed me, made me anxious. Get pain management doctor to give you shots, they put you out in the office and it was an answer to my prayers.
