I have a whole routine when I get a cold sore. First, I ALWAYS have my Valtrex and Denavir on hand; as soon as I use them up I immediately get refills for the next outbreak, be it a few months or a year. They are with me when I travel. And have lots of qtips and tissue too. At the first sign, I start the Valtrex (the first 2 of 4 tablets). Then I start dabbing the spot with rubbing alcohol on a ...

Again, after using Denavir on my cold sore for four days, the cold sore turned into a red patch, like a hickey. It was much harder to cover up and it is lasting twice as long as it suppose too. Also, Denavir cost $603.01, for 5 g. at Walmart Pharm. Nothing should cost that much. When open, too much cream comes out the tube, that to me, is a waste of money.

this medication did not realy help me at all, it helped slow the process, but since the tube is extremely small, the sore came back 2 days later

I had a huge cold sore that I'd been using Abreva on without results when I got another one! AH! My doc prescribed me Denavir and immediately the new sore disappeared AND the first one shrank so quickly. It was amazing. I just wish it came with a pump top so I didn't spill so much when I take the lid off to apply it. But, don't let that run you astray. It works great! I would definately recommend it to anyone with annoying cold sores.

I had a cold sore for over a month and this mediacation got rid of it in four days. The only problem was that it came back with in two days of finishing the treatment. It is much smaller, but I am still dealing with it and hope that it is only temperary.

This medication has been very effective for me. I have used it over the years as needed ( outbreaks spans from every 4 months and sometimes no outbreaks for as long as 1 year without an outbreak). Whenever I feel an outbreak coming I apply the medication sparingly a few times, the blisters stopped and healing begins almost immediately. There is no comparison. It is really effective for me.I have had no negative side effect so far.
