I was told that i was chronically constipated by an internist an that i would always have to take a laxative to help this condition. But after being prescribed docusate sodium to avoid straining after a hysterectomy, I have found my long term answer. No diarrhea, cramping or negative side effects at all. It just works!

Was taking 200mg mornings & 200mg at night(Capsules). Caused lower GI track irritation, burning feeling around anus after going to the bathroom. Felt like I eat hot peppers.

The recommended dosage for docusate sodium is 100-200mg per day. 1)How is it metabolized? 2)Is there liver involvment and if so is the liver effected by an overdose? Thanks for any help. Kevin...Ottawa

I Was Given this after the birth of my son. Via C-Section I didn't really see much of a difference once i took the medication. I had to continue taking it once i was released from the hospital for about a week. Took over a week to become effective.
