I've been taking vicodin off and on for the past year. It definitely helps with the pain. However, I can't help the feeling of sadness or solitude. I have mood swings. Not severe, but teetering between the feeling of being content to the feeling of depression. I wish it didnt make me feel sad, this is the best medication I've ever taken for my back pain.

For lack anything better, I've found Vicodin the most effective for my chronic body aches/pain. One of the nice things about it for me has been that it deals with the pain but doesn't make me sleepy at all like I've found many other medications do. Sleepiness is just something I can't live with. I was resistive at first to the idea of taking a narcotic, but the side effects are minimal, and I fe ... Show Full Comment

One of the nice things about it for me has been that it deals with the pain but doesn't make me sleepy at all like I've found many other medications do. Sleepiness is just something I can't live with. I was resistive at first to the idea of taking a narcotic, but the side effects are minimal, and I feel more in control of how much or little I want to take. There are times that I'm ok with a little suffering. Many of the other things I've tried just make me loopy all of the time, and I can't stand it. I wish there were another option that would just relieve the pain more effectively all of the time, but for now I am as satisfied as I can be taking the Vicodin as compared with the available options that I know of.
