This product is effective. Take only one at a time (i took two once and was crying in pain). You should also plan to take it only when you can afford to have some quality bathroom time. You may need a few trips to the bathroom as it works through your system. Don't take it the day that you have something really imortant to do. I took it at 9 p.m. and it worked its way through at about 10 a.m. ...

I had received free samples of Dulcolax laxative tablets and took one two nights ago around 10PM. I woke up in the morning with moderate cramping, and while on my commute was feeling uncomfortable. I had jury duty that morning and as soon as the case began, I started feeling incredibly nauseous and hot, as well as crampy, and hobbled embarrassingly to the bathroom. There I stayed for 30 minutes hu...

After taking two 5mg tablets of this medication, I made the mistake of reading these reviews and began to panic a bit as I braced myself for a night of sheer hell. Then I remembered that those who have a perfectly uneventful experience seldom feel the need to go online and blog about it. I am the exception to this rule. The product lived-up to its claim of "Gentle, effective, relief" No cramps, no pain, no sweats, no headache, no drama. I slept like a baby, woke-up eight hours later, drank two cups of coffee and viola. I rate this product somewhat milder than sugar-free chocolate candies--don't eat too many of those, or you'll be sorry.Read More Read Less

I took 2 Dulcolax two nights before a colonoscopy, and woke up with such severe cramps, sweats and nausea that I almost passed out. Couldn't keep down any fluids for 2 days, and had constant cramps and passed bloody stool for another 3 days. Had to cancel my colonoscopy. Took a full week to recover completely. Will NEVER take this product again. Most painful experience since childbirth.

I really wish I would have read these reviews before I took two pills in preparation for a colonoscopy. I have had 3 kids and never felt so terrible or so much pain. The pain along with sweating, feeling that I was going to pass out, and nausea, horrible side affects. They really should not have this product availible over the counter. And people should be warned prior to use how severe the side affects may be.

took one 5mg pill at 8 pm. woke up at 3am with severe cramps and debilitating pain in my upper abdomen. this was followed by dizziness, sweating, and nausea. the box says gentle, but i have never experienced such horrible side effects in my whole life. i have produced several painful bowel movements and could not leave the toilet for 15 minutes. this product needs to come with a warning label. if i had taken more than one i would be in the hospital. DO NOT USE!

I've used this product before but only took 1 pill with no problem but didn't feel like it worked completely. Last time I took it I took 2 pills. Big mistake..I had cramps so bad I felt like I was going to die. Light headed to the point of lying on the floor and I got numbness in both hands up to my elbows. I did go to the bathroom but not until about an hour after the cramping started. NEVER AGAIN will I take this product!!!

I had to take 2 tablets the night before surgery. I was awakened at midnight with some cramping but felt like a tummy ache. Nothing severe. Had 3 movements between midnight and 9a. It did not interefere with my sleep and I didn't experience the terrible side effects that others had. I was instructed to take a Maalox chaser right before bed so that may have helped with the side effects. The only thing I did experience was a headache shortly after taking it. Not sure why as I was well hydrated.

This is the worst medicine ive ever taken as far as side effects. Odd how there is no mention of this on the instructions. I took two pills about nine oclock and woke up at 2 am with excrutiating cramps. Thought i was dying. Lasted two hours finally after three vomits i had a bowel movement. Started having shakes uncontrolably called 911 thought i was going into shock. Diagnosed with fue, its five pm now and am feeling better, weak and drinking gatorade. this stuff is going in the trash.

I'm glad I read everyone else's horror story reviews of this product before I took it myself. The best way to take this and have a good experience is by learning how everyone else did it wrong. The last thing in the world I would do is take a bigger dose than just one tablet of a laxative of all things particularly one that I've never tried before. You have to figure out how your body is going to react to any medications before you jump in with anything but the bare minimum of doses. All the tragedy and pain and misery can be avoided easily. It's not up to the drug to do you know harm it's an inanimate object, just because a doctor prescribes it for you is no reason to jump in blindly either. Just one tablet left me a very satisfied customer and my fears of diarrhea were assuaged also. No pain no unstoppable problems. I can see that the rest of the 9 tablets in the box are going to go along way.Read More Read Less

I've only going once or twice a week now for three weeks, and nothing has been helping. You're supposed to take 1-3 of these daily. I took 5 (I weigh 245) at 10 p.m. and was woken up at 2 for my "evacuation." Yes, it was a bit dramatic, but I finally went and now 6:30 a.m. I feel great. I'm hoping to not have to do that every night, though. Tonight, I'll try 2 and see what happens.

I am a female of 5 ft 110 Lbs. I took 2 pills last night around 10 PM. Its now 24 hours later. I woke up to cramps from hell about 5:30 am. I was in unbelievable pain. It was like an explosion and cramps with shooting pain and vomiting at the same time. I have never had kids but this is what it must feel like!. I was sweating and really considered calling 911. I thought something was very wrong and was very scared. I went back to bed and passed out from being so tired and when i woke back up I felt like I was hit by a train. NO energy at all . I could hardly move, I was extremely weak Its 10 pm 24 hours later and sick as a dog. STILL weak, headache tired.. Totally wiped out. This is so wrong is so many ways that a product that states that it is gentle. Gentle to pop in your mouth. This is poison. I will find out whatever i can and get this product off the shelvesRead More Read Less

I used this drug and was completely satisfied with it. It did exactly what it was supposed to do - soften my stools and make me more regular so that anal fissures could heal up. I am very happy with it. I am suprised that so many people are dissatisfied with it and had so many side effects. I didn't have any side effects at all. I am just glad that it is helping to fix my other problem.

I am currently up in the middle of the night with extreme stomach and back pain. I've thrown up and have been going to the bathroom for the past hour. Although this medicine is effective, I will definitely throw it out. The side effects are not worth it! I'd rather be constipated.

Took 3 Dolcolax tablets, horrible cramps for 2 days and still bleeding rectally. What a mistake taking these! I also have bad hand shaking still into the 2nd day, severe headache on 2nd day. Hope the bleeding stops soon.

I agree with the previous reviews, I will NEVER take Dulcolax again! This has been one of the most horrible experiences of my life! I took 2 tablets, and 10 hours later I was in excruciating pain. I was scared of dieing. I broke out in a cold sweat, almost fainted, lost my sight (saw red first), nauseated, lost my color, and the cramps were excruciating. It did work but at what cost.

My doctor told me that I was constipated and recommended that I try a stimulant laxative. So, I bought Dulcolax, took 3 tablets, and went home. Then, I made the mistake of reading these reviews. I was terrified! However, I didn't have a bad experience. It didn't even work. I took one dose in the middle of the night. I had some really mild cramping, some diarrhea, and my stomach felt uncomfortable for the whole next day. But, I did not have the insane pain, nausea, fainting, and vomiting that so many people complain of. I didn't even have a BM. So, my advice would be, take it if a doctor says you should, in the proper dosage and you'll be fine. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water, so you don't get dehydrated.Read More Read Less

If you want a complete and satisfactory experience do as I did: clear liquids for breackfast then two tablets of dulcolax and the rest of the day clear luquid diet.

I WILL NEVER TAKE DULCOLAX AGAIN!! I agree with so many other comments. I took two because it said to take 1 to 3, so I'm thinking it most be a gentle laxative..BOY WAS I WRONG!!..I took it around 6:30pm..started hurting at around 12:15am..and it didn't let up.. I was in excrutiating pain.., nauseated, sweats chills, i guess it did the job for about 3.5 hours..then totally stopped.., no gas ..nothing..but the excruciating pain continued..for almost 24 hours..I was bed ridden..I felt like a had a really bad stomach virus..I felt awful! Also..like the others I wish I would have read these reviews before I took it.., but .it is now where it's suppose to be..IN THE TRASH!!..the pain and all the rest of the side effects.. is not worth it!!, I'll stick to a glass of prune juice..followed by a glass of water..from now on.Read More Read Less

I take 3 tablets a day, because I had stopped having bowel movements, and my Dr. told me to start taking them. At first no problems, them I started having bad stomach cramps. I started not eating anything 5 or 6 hrs, before I take them, and I have no problems. When I did have the cramps, I took 2 capfuls of Pepto Bismol, and they stopped in about 10 mins. I recommend not eating 5 hrs, before or after taking Dulcolax. It works for me.

I took 2 pills around 9:oopm and went to bed. At 2:00am i woke up with pain that felt like my insides were being tied in knots. I rushed to the bathroom where things started to move. I had a BM, vomited and had the shakes all at the same time. This all lasted about and hour. WORST EXPERINCE I HAVE EVER HAD!
