I have been taking 2mg of doxazosin for the past 2 years. My urgency to urinate has decreased drastically and getting up in the middle of the night happens occasionally. For me, when I sit for a long period of time, I have to go to the bathroom more often. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this treatment with no side effects.

It doesn't seem to be working and I'm not sure how much damage it may be causing my internal organs. I really think most prescriptions are written so the doctor can get their 'kick backs', i.e., money from the drug companies...if it actually works for the patient...great!

Urologist initially prescribed 4 mg daily to be taken at bedtime for BPH. Could not tolerate it because it caused swelling in my nose with difficulty breathing in middle of night. Switched to 2 mg morning and evening and side affects acceptable. Satisfactory improvement in BPH, but much more impressed with blood pressure results. Dropped my blood pressure from about 135/80 to 115/70. Was never totally satisfied with my 135 blood pressure, but my GP said it was okay. He is nervous about Doxazosin side affects (fainting), but can't quibble with results. All-in-all, quite satisfiedRead More Read Less

79 Yrs old. Have taken Doxazosin for many years. Now at 8mg daily. Side effects seem to be daytime dizziness, poor balance, diminished libido, daytime sleepiness. New supply by Dava Labs does not seem to be working as previous mfr.Not a good urine flow. Has anyone noted a less effectiveness with a new supplier?

No need to go during the night sometimes once depending on time of last water. Prolonged erections. Delay of or no ejaculation, Although Using saw palmetto seems to help that issue.

Caused extreme exhaustion. Totally killed sex drive. This medication aged me ten years in one month. I would recommend this medication to inmates on death row, it takes away the will to live.

Been taking 6mg at bedtime. Sometimes it helps and I do not get up every hour to urinate other times doesn't seem to help at all. Maybe its just a curse at our ages to have BPH :(

I take 6 mg./day. Works very well for treating BPH. However, when I asked my doctor if my episodes of swelling of my face and tongue could be drug-related, he told me dozazosin is one of the safest drugs on the market. He sent me to an allergist who reported I had no allergies, but he did not investigate a drug reaction. I have since done more research on my own and discovered that I've been having a reportable allergic reaction! Thanks to an ER doctor, I now carry an Epi-Pen in case I have a severe allergic reaction until I can find a good substitute medication for my BPH. Some of the others have similar possible allergic reactions.Read More Read Less

lowers blood pressure better than Losartan, however; have broken blood vessels popping up everywhere; pins/needles and muscle pain in legs mostly; tiredness, possible blurry vision - also take lipitor - maybe together they both contribute to these side effects.

I have been taking 4mg of Doxazosin Oral for over a year and a half. As far as keeping me from getting up every hour or so at night to urinate doesn't seem to make a difference.

Some light headiness in the early stages of use, whenever making a body position change. Overall this negative side effect cleared with the passing of time and continued use of the product.

Is doxazosin a diuretic and does it have hydrothiside in it?

This drug worked on my BPH, making urination easier, but after extended use my blood pressure dropped to questionable levels and I started becoming light headed after minor physical activity

Taking 1 mg for 6 months. Little effect on BP, increase in urine flow, decrease in night frequency. [I had TURP surgery 15 years ago.] When I first started taking it I had some dizziness and some increase pull rate, but no unpleasant effects now. I take it because another medication I take for pain causes enlargement of prostate that restricts urine flow. I may increase dose to 2 mg.

was on very expensive rapaflo, which is not covered in my rx. plan.very satisfied with doxazosin (4 mg. per day split in 2 doses, and the short time in which the drug needs to work.(usually within hours) but it is very difficult to sustain an erection while taking it. when it comes down to it, i would rather be able to urinate many times daily, and empty my bladder without urinating all over the floor, and refrain from sex while on this drug.
