I've had RLS since my teenage years. Over the years it has gradually gotten worse. I now get RLS any time of the day. Sometimes it even affects my arms along with the legs. I started with 2mg of Requip per day but have since increased the dosage. I now take 8mg per day generally starting with 1mg at 1:30 to 2 p.m. and continuing to bedtime. Requip will initially cause RLS before relaxing the...

This medication has helped me get some sleep. I take it at 10:00 pm and I'm awake by 3:00 am. It will not last the whole night. I'm asking for a change. Maybe my case is more severe than some, I now have the same problem in the arms as the legs.

I have had RLS super strong for over four months and it has been a nightmare not being able to sleep...every night I have not been getting sleep and RLS is like torture all night long. My Psychiatrist RX Requip for the RLS. Of course, RLS was caused by Psychiatrist RX of Abilify for almost 2 years. Anyway...things happen, I understand this. After 3rd day of taking Requip had first allergic reaction to any medication ever. Trouble breathing, heart pain, couldn't stand up straight, bloating. Trip to ER - released the next day never to take Requip again. NOW, no Dr. is comfortable with RXing ANY RLS drug to me until I have a sleep study proving that I actually do have RLS. Yikes. No sleep study available for over one month. One month more of no sleep. Sleep test is expensive and stressful. Just FYI. My only advise? Avoid Abilify at all costs...it took over one and a half years for RLS to show up with Abilify. And, avoid Requip, there are many other RLS drugs out there with better reviews.Read More Read Less

y restless leg syndrome has no mercy. It attacks me any time of the day or night. It is also in my upper limbs. Drs say it is the worst case they have seen. Nothing seems to help. I am on 4mg of requip twice a day and vicodin as needed.Vicodin used to be the most effective but it no longer working.

I eventually got up to 2mg/day. With it I gained 75#, have vivid disturbing dreams, have terrible body aches(esp of the hips, knees and feet), fatigue, mental fogginess, and Headaches. I am now trying to wean off and have horrible diarrhea. Don't start this drug.

I'm 65 and have had RSL since childhood (my mother called it growing pains). My mother had it, as does my sister, niece, and my son. I started Ropinerole about two years ago and it helped a lot for awhile. But I gradually had to increase the dosage and am now on 4 mg. per day, taken at three different times, starting in the morning. I have severe aching and cramping in my legs, and twitching in arms and shoulders. Mild hallucinations, swelling of feet, calves and thighs, and some involuntary head movements. I also have the urge to eat during the late nights. I only sleep two to three hours per night and am drowsy all day at work. When bedtime comes I am not sleepy, even with the Ropinerole. I have not shared all this with my doctor because I just put it all together after reading these posts. I thought I was going crazy!Read More Read Less

my mom is 91 and takes this med for cramping in the thighs at night. We almost placed her in an assisted living location because she fell into a dimension like state where she was acting somewhat like an alzheimers patient. she thought it was morning when the opposite was true. She prepared to go to swimming class even showing up at 4 AM waiting for the bus. She was completly confused and sensed. She also slept even in between bites of dinner with a family gathering. The problem she was having was that she thought she had to take one pill in the AM and one in the PM I found that out by accident. Once I changed that patern her dimensia subsided within 24 hours. Very serious med and didn't realize it. it is voluntary med not a life threatening condition. her general prac was very confused by the instant onset of dimensia because my mom is very sharp and physically active even at her age. Not a fan of the side effects. Read More Read Less

At first the doctor had to keep upping the dose as it did not seem to last long in a short time was up to 4mg. When I tried to go off it my RLS symtoms worsened and I was in extreme pain.

I was given this line of treatment for my RLS. I find it very beneficial. I just don't like taking 4 pills thru out the day. They do upset my stomach and I have to eat with the morning dose. I take 1mg tabs q.i.d. It is the medication that has helped me. I can tell if I miss one, I'll suffer for at least 1/2 to an lhr. with unbearable movement of my legs. My mom,2 brothers and 1 sister also have this but not on a daily basis as mine is. I would suggest to anyone experiencing Restless Leg Syndrome.Read More Read Less

I stared out on 2mg of requip for RLS, I also have lupus. I have been on requip for several years. I am now up to 3gm, 1/2 in am and 3 in pm, When I first started I would throw up but I take Phenergan with the Requip. About 6 months about I had pain in my lower back, it felt like muscle spasm but I could not sit, stand, lay down. Went to the ER 4 times trying to find out the problem. No one seem to know what it was. This pain was close to childbirth pain, NO JOKE!! I have had that problem on and off. I talk to one of my husband's friends who has had the exact same problem. I am soo glad I talked to him. I never would have imagined that it was the requip, I have also had problems breathing, I used to have 20/20 vision, up until last year, I got glasses due to vision changes, in less than six months, I had to get new classes due to worsening vision. THE MAIN THING I WANTED TO POINT OUT WAS THE BACK PAIN PROBLEM,BECAUSE IF I HAD NOT TALKED TO MY HUSBANDS FRIEND, I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT REQUIP WOULD HAVE DONE THAT AND NO DOCTOR HAS BROUGHT IT UP. SOMETHING I WANTED TO SHARE, SO OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM WOULD KNOW. Read More Read Less
