I am a senior in high school and have been on Levora since freshmen year. I loved it! My periods were lighter, my cramps weren't as bad, my boobs grew a little bit and I think it made me 10x more horny than I already was! I did get cravings for things that I do not usually eat which was weird. Just this year I started getting really bad mood swings, panic attacks, and anxiety attacks. Then i s...

I have been on this medication for about 2 years now and I have to say I'm absolutely devastated by its effects. Don't get me wrong, it has completely worked by not getting me pregnant, but I am experiencing some terrible side effects. Within the past year I have noticed a significant amount of hair loss. I researched that hormonal birth controls can definitely cause this because of the amount ...

this product works if you don't want to get pregnant, but when it comes to the side affects they might not be what you what to deal with,(everyone is different this is just what i have to deal with) hair lose, sex drive gone, darker blood and more & bigger clots, mood swings, tenderness of the breast, appetite fluctuates. this product is easy to use to a point, my problem is that i some times forget to take it miss days and if this happens u might get an unexpected visit. pros. my visits are shorter and i have never been pregnant. I think i'm going to change birth control.Read More Read Less

I have been on this pill for almost a month and i noticed a change in my mood and behavior instantly. Everyone at my job now thinks i am mean because i get angry for no reason, and i am constantly craving food. ive gained 7 pounds in the first 3 weeks alone. and ive gotten really self conscious and anxious about everything. my husband doesnt even recognize all of this behavior and wants me to go off of this awful pill right away.

I waited 1 month to write this review. Hopefully things will stay the same. First of all, I read quite a few reviews before I took this pill. Let me tell you, I was terrified. I paid more attention to the bad reviews because with my luck I would suffer from every bad side effect of this pill. My main concern was weight gain and mood swings. I broke out even in areas where I never break out (chest, head) but took control of it by going on proactive. My regular regimen (Dermalogica) was not working. Proative is working but I have to make sure to wash morning and night. No falling asleep with make up or I will break out. So far the acne seems to be a continuous side effect. My breasts were tender for the first couple of weeks, actually, it was quite painful, but it went away. No weight gain. My appetite has actually decreased. I had bad PMS episodes and that's when I gained weight. This pill has seemed to help with my PMS problems such as uncontrollable appetite, mood swings, and weight gain. I just recently experienced break through bleeding. Since this is my first run with this pill I will wait another month or two to see if it goes away before talking to my doctor. Overall, I am happy.Read More Read Less

I was having issues controlling severe pms/pmdd. Every thing that goes along with pms to the extreme (depression and irritability) every month like clock work 7-10 days before I would start. I tried everything so I decided to give the birth control pill a shot. I'm on my 6th month and my pms is sooo much better. It's almost non existent. I experienced a bit of a libido drop but not that bad and it's returning. The one negative I experienced was that the first month I threw up a lot the first day and slowly got better over the next three days, the second and third months I experienced mild nausea and fatigue (flu like). Some moodiness but not bad. After that the only thing I notice is that every month when I start a new pack the first 5 days I'm extremely fatigued like I've never felt before. Good trade off to get rid of pms though.Read More Read Less

I remember being on this drug in high school when I first started taking birth control and it gave me hair loss but no other problems. My pharmacy randomly switched me to Portia a few years later and I had no problems whatsoever with that drug. Last week, the pharmacy switched me back to Levora again and I have already had to stop taking it six days later. I couldn't sleep and woke up barfing the first night after I took it, have been bloated and constipated every day, and was sent home from work because I was dizzy, light-headed, and barfing again last night. Worst drug ever. They say it's the same as Portia, but believe me there is a difference. DO NOT let your pharmacy switch you randomly if you are satisfied with the drug you have been on!Read More Read Less

I have been on Lavora for over a year now and it seems to do the trick. Im not pregnant and my acne has cleared up for the most part. I do think it has something to do with my depression and mood swings. I'm still deciding if I should switch but I'm a littler nervous that another pill will make me gain weight. I gained 11 pounds on lavora in the first 2 months, it could be from the fact that I was growing but I'm pretty sure it's from the pill.

In Sep '11, at 16, I started on Reclipsen which caused mood swings, break outs, nausea and over all put me in a slump. I stopped taking it in December, to give my body a break. In January I went back on BC, this time with microgestin (a mini-pill). This worked well to regulate my cycle and lessen periods but apparently wasn't effective as I got pregnant in February and miscarried at 6 weeks. I have now been on Levora since June (7 months), have been very sexually active and it has been completely effective both as contraception and everything else I want from a pill. It enhances my sex drive, complexion, and reduces my period time and amount. A great pill. Read More Read Less

I'm 26 and I currently live in Korea (where birth control is easy to get [no perscription required] BUT difficult to find information in English on what's available. I've been taking the Korean version of Levora (called Minivlar 30 [????30]) and have overall been pleased with the results. I started taking but birth control and to regulate my periods (I've always been irregular). I do experience slight and occasional nausea (although it usually occurs about 6-7 hours AFTER taking the pill and only about twice a week), periodic headaches (usually one bad a month about a week before my period), and slight mood changes (I cry more easily now, but actually, I'm thankful because it was REALLY hard for me to cry before). My periods are more stable and lighter. Overall, VERY satisfied.Read More Read Less

i've been on the pill for a year now and it's good. it does the job but as far as the side effects i'm already planning to swith. It's my first birth control and i have had an increase appetite for sure and my emotions are just crazy, i'll cry for almost anything. My sex drive will come and go and i do get very anxious most of the time. If my breasts grew bigger i wouldn't mind it all but yeah i want to try a better option. something that keeps my emotions in check

I got several yeast infections while on this pill over the course of a year. I knew this was contributing to it but I also think the sex irritated my vagina anyway, so I think it made my body more susceptible to the infections. Because I use the pill, I usually allow my partner to ejaculate inside of me, and I think that this may also by why the infections occurred so often. It might not have been the BC at all. I'd say I had at least 5 awful infections, including the vulvitis each time.... Once, an urgent care dr prescribed me steroid cream because I was so irritated. My breasts definitely increased a cup size and made me moody/ and depressed. Before I took the pill, however, I've dealt with depression and related mania, so the BC might not actually be doing this either. I had little to no acne whatsoever, no bloating, only very minimal cramping a few hours before I would start bleeding and my periods were mild, and usually light. Otherwise, it did what it was supposed to do and we'll see how the next one goes! Read More Read Less

I'm 17 and I've been on Levora for four months now. I am gunna be talking to my doctor about switching birth control. I had a yeast infection, treated it and then got another one from being on antibiotics so I tried treating it again. It's not working. It couldn't be anything but the birth control. Has anyone else experienced that? Also I've had anxiety before about going to the doctor or female care but now I have an anxiety attack almost everyday. I am ready for something new.

Ok I'll admit that it works great. I'm 19 and had a miscarriage 5 months ago and also active again with my boyfriend. i haven't noticed a decrease in my sex drive but its always been high haha. BUT my chest/boobs HURT all the time! some times its so sharp that i just lay there in pain. that and depression. i cry for no reason and often. i havn't gained weight, if anything i've lost my appetite. i do have anxiety issues, but i can usually control it, but while on this pill i still struggled fighting panic attacks. im going on a lower dose bc to see if that helps me... this one made me feel like crap! I have been on Levora for about 8 months and finally am back to my Ortho Novum 1+35. I was switched to Levora because i recieve my meds through the VA and my 1+35 was recalled last fall. I have never had such horrible bleeding and passing of HUGE clots!!! Enough is enough and started back on my old pill Ortho Novum 1+35 (which I barely even had a period on). I want to burn the extra packs of Levora because being on this BCP was a living hell!!!!!

Well, I haven't gotten pregnant, so that's good, but overall I think I believe there to be some major side effects. The two major are weight gain due to a significant increase in appetite. I can't stop eating...and I'm on Weight Watchers so that is never good! I also have a decreased sex drive. Does its job, but not satisfied, will probably change yet again...l

This is the second birth control pill I have been put on. The first that my doctor put me on was not strong enough. But, I am completely satisfied with this pill. I have no spotting and my nearly unbearable cramps that I previously had have gone away. My periods are extremely light now as well which is a plus! They are also very short and only last about three to four days. The only side effects that I have experienced are migraines about once and month that last about a day and some slight moodiness. OK well first of all, it did its job. No pregnancy. I was first on Lutera for about a year and was completely satisfied with it. The only issue I had with that pill was a small decrease in libido. With LEVORA I am completely dissatisfied. Absolutely NO libido, I don't even want to kiss my boyfriend (and we have a pretty good sex life previously). I get more acne now, I'm having terrible hair loss, I get migraines a LOT, I'm nauseous ALL the time - which is awful because I have emetophobia - constantly feel like I'm going to puke. I'm definitely requesting to go back on Lutera. Awful awful pill!Read More Read Less

Birth control is going to effect people differently, people treat their bodys differently. After 3 years of taking Levora, I've decided to stop. Pro: it does what its suppose to, birth control! Cons: hair loss, low libido, fatigue, spider viens, brown blotchy skin on face, weight gain, and mood swings. Looking for a more natural method of birth control.

This is the fourth type of birth control I've tried (others include Zovia, Yasmin, and Tri-Sprintec) and Levora is by far the best. I literally have NO cramps and my periods are light and painless. I used to have cramps so bad I'd cry and be unable to move but this pill has cleared up that issue entirely. It also helps balance my mood and I experience way less (if any) PMS. My acne has not cleared up entirely but has improved. This pill does not make me feel depressed or hungry like some other people say. I guess you just have to find the right one for your body, but Levora seems to work the best out of anything else I've ever tried. Also, NO breathrough bleeding - another plus!Read More Read Less
