These reviews are depressing! While in college a friend recommended Loestrin to me and I've been on its generic ever since, over 10 years now. I had a child in 2005 and continued Microgestin awhile after that. I've been completely satisfied with the product. No weight gain or spotting, no extraordinary moodiness or nausea, very little cramps if I've been exercising and eating right, and my libi...

My ob/gyn put me on this medication after taking out my IUD (mirena). I had the mirena for about 6 years and the last couple of years were pretty bad. So, I decided to change birth control method, so I got the Microgestin FE 1.5/30 prescribed. I thought it was gonna help with the acne and loss of sex drive that the mirena started causing those last couple of years, but since I have been on this pi...

I was on Trinessa for 6 years when my doctor decided to switch me onto Microgestin. It is by far the worst birth control pill ever. It gave me chronic yeast infections and horrific headaches. Switching back onto an Ortho Tri-Cyclen generic ASAP.

I took Micregestin for 11 years and felt great, switched to Junel because of insurance and gained weight, lost sex drive and suffered from anxiety and acne. Switched back when I figured out the problem was Junel, feeling almost normal again. Goes to show its totally about body chemistry, don't settle for anything that makes you feel like crap!

BEWARE!!!!! These pills are a nightmare! I was taking them to help me balance my hormones and it caused me to have mood swings as well as severe depression and it may have caused my relations with my boyfriend to go south! I hope I still have him and I hope he has not given up on me? Tonight I had sent him the link of the side effects and I pray that I will still have him in my life! I am so upset right now, because it took me a long time to find a wonderful man and I pray I will continue to have him in my life! They make my heart race, my chest is a little tight, and I want to know how to detox myself from these damn pills!!!!! I hope I can get my old life back on track and have no more drama thanks to these pills!!!!! Shame on you for coming up with a pill that has enormous side effects and making my life miserable when I was on them! Read More Read Less

I'm reviewing this after having been on it for almost a year. I switched to this pill after Yaz made me very moody and anxious (only bad effect I got, but it's a big one). Yaz made me lose 10 pounds because of the diuretic in it, and I gained those back immediately on this pill (but I don't think I gained anything additional). My mood has seemed normal on this pill, periods are painless, and I haven't seemed to experience any negative side effects. Except acne. I've had moderate acne since I was about 11, but my breakouts tended to be on the upper part of my face. Since a few months after starting this pill my chin has not been clear of (usually cystic) acne yet. I am prone to cysts, but rarely used to get them on my chin before this pill. This pill is one that I would go back to as a last resort, but for now I'm trying out a different one (TriNessa) and hoping that it won't break me out.Read More Read Less

I switched to mictrogestin because my other birth control wasn't strong enough. For the first 3 months everything seemed okay, my period was really light the first month and by the second I was spotting a little, then the 3rd I didn't have a period. My boobs did go up a cup size and my nails are shiny and stronger. But now it's seems to be going downhill. I get bloated a lot and I've lost control over my emotions;I almost had a mental break down which never happens to me! Usually before my period I get a little sad and shed a few tears, but this is ridiculous, my boyfriend thinks i'm unstable now! The only good thing is the bigger boobs! Read More Read Less

I had trouble with the past with birth control, but I decided to try it. I was Lo Estrin Fe for a few months and now I'm on my second pack of Microgestin Fe 1/20 and after I finish this pack I'm done with it. My breasts hurt terrible, I haven't gained weight but haven't lost any either and I workout and eat right. I have had bleeding constantly and I know it's nothing major because I haven't had sexual intercourse in over a year. I feel tired all the time.

I've been on and off the pill for 15 years and just recently started microgestin 9 months ago. The side effects to this pill are pretty bad and I didn't connect them until reading other reviews. PROS 1. I'm not pregnant, so I'd have to at least say its effective. CONS 1. Break through bleeding/early periods: I take the pill every morning, at the same time (give or take 5 minutes), and still have break through bleeding and 3 of my periods have started 5 days earlier than expected (while I was on the "active" pills). 2. Cramps, I have them. As bad as they were when I was in high school and NOT on the pill. 3. Weight Gain: I wasn't an extremely tiny person to begin with, but even on an average 1,200 calorie a day diet with 3 workouts a week, I have not been able to beat the belly fat (although this may be attributed to my age). 4. Acne: 33 and breaking out. Something's not right. 5. Mood swings (cry easily / irritable): My boyfriend does not appreciate this side effect of the pill.Read More Read Less

I've been on this pill for a month after switching from cyclafem due to break-through bleeding. So far I am three days into the sugar pills when I normally would receive my period and still have none of the symptoms I usually get prior to my period. I have had mood swings and depression over the past two weeks, and have noticed a lot of bloating/possible weight gain. I will give it an additional month or so but still not crazy about it.

I started using this BC right after a menstrual cycle to regulate my periods after miscarrying 3 months prior. Within 2 weeks I started bleeding for 6 days straight then it switched to I'll stop bleeding at night but around the sametime everyday I started right back bleeding it would not stop. After 18 days straight of bleeding I stopped taking it and never will again. I also felt depressed and got bad headaches while taking this BC.

I started taking it this month and im only on my second week and feel great. I started taking it because of the pains from the fibroidtumors I had and I was constantly in pain so i started taking microgestin and only had pain one day out of the two weeks which was the day after i started taking this medication.

The first time i used this bcp it was the typical side effects, weight gain, moody etc. This bcp however reversed everything. I went from light periods to heavy periods. I have a very clear completion but immediately after i start it (ive been on & off the past 3 years) my face breaks out. It stays pimply until i stop. However no more bloating or mood swings. Just those nasty pimples.

I love this birth control pill - I am taking Microgestin (generic of Loestrin FE) for a few reasons: abnormal periods and also for the obvious reason of birth control. I was worried that it would cause weight gain, but it hasn't. In fact, I have noticed a slight weight loss. I've been on the pill going on 3 months and have seen my weight fluctuate a little, up to as much as 5 lbs in a day. That's why I believe the weight gain associated with the pill may just be water retention and swelling. I recommend using a probiotic to help with water weight gain. I've found that it works like a diuretic. And a side note ... Microgestin and Loestrin increase breast size. Have noticed a slight increase! This is a great pill. ;)Read More Read Less

I rated this effective at a 5, because I didn't get pregnant on it. That's about it for effectiveness. It did what it's supposed to, I guess. Easy--yeah. Same as all pills, once a day, every day. I am NOT AT ALL satisfied with the pill though. I was on Sprintec for awhile and started having some anxiety and ended up on anti anxiety meds until I realized it was my pill. So, I switched to Microgestin 1.5/30 to see if that helped with the anxiety. It did, help with that to an extent. The first month, I missed my period altogether. THAT did not help with anxiety! Ha. I have always had periods that I knew down to the hour on what day I would start. Missing one was a complete shock. I am almost to the end of the 2nd month pack and have gained 20 lbs in 2 months! I am furious! I just lost 25 lbs and was feeling great about myself again, now I've packed it all on again. I've been eating nothing but fresh fruit, drinking water, etc, and gained that much weight? Thank God my fiance is understanding and still tells me I'm sexy, though I don't feel like it. I'm getting off this as soon as this pack is done. I can't wait! Read More Read Less

I started this bcp because my periods were irregular after a miscarriage. I have been taking it for 5 months now and had random spotting to full periods until the last two months where I have had no periods at all. I feel CRAZY! I am usually a happy easy going mom, but since starting this bcp I have been depressed, exhauseted, snappy and short with everyone for no reason at all and unable to control my drastic mood swings. My breast are so sore I dread hugging my kiddos and and I typically fight headaches all day just about everyday. No matter what I eat I continue to put on weight and feel so exhasted that even taking a shower seems like to daunting a task let alone actual excersize. I usually love to be active and am not a pestimest but since starting this pill, I have felt like a crazy alien has taken over my body. I am looking forward to getting off this pill. I used to have irregular and heavy periods. While I do use this as my main birth control, the main reason I started using this pill was to do continuous cycling. I have been on this pill for 5+ years now and love it. I have never, ever had breakthrough bleeding, not even the first six months I started this pill. I have been on many other pills before this one, but they all gave me breakthrough bleeding. I never want to change my prescription for this pill, this has worked best for me.

I have been on Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 for four months now and I have an appointment to switch in two weeks. I have very long periods that are close together, 12-14 days on, 7-10 days off. I have taken multiple types of pills off and on for 16 years, taking time off for pregnancy and due to insurance costs at times. On this I have had break through spotting every couple of days with a one or two day period. I don't mind the short period but hate having to wear a pantyliner every days just in case. I have also been much more moody on this and being bi-polar already makes that an issue at times. This does help with my cramps, which makes life so much more bearable. But again, constant break through spotting is annoying and the mood swings are not worth it.Read More Read Less
