I was prescribed med when other meds failed to stop Autoimmune urticaria. It worked within days of starting by stopping hives. Unfortunately, taking it has made me feel miserable otherwise. I have been very tired, my blood pressure has risen considerably, aching in my joints, flushing skin, swollen and tingling hands, and unable to sleep. In the process of weaning off it and hope that hives st...

I have had chronic hives for years. They come and go, but when they come back it is with a vengenance. My allergist finally started me on cyclosporin and I had to start out at 200mg a day and slowly decrease. After several months, the hives were gone! No really bad side effects other than some excessive facial hair. Now the hives have returned and I started the mediciation again. But the blood tests for kidney function is high so I had to stop the medicine. Hives have returned, especially the itching. This drug works for me and I would take it as long as necessary.Read More Read Less

I got diagnosed with psoriasis at the start of 2011, it ruined my life. All the creams I had never worked and the photo-therapy didn't work, I tried the cyclosporine and it made me sick. I tried the oral solution and that make my psoriasis worse so I went back to the tablet ones, now I've ran out of them and I have 14 of the symptoms that come with cyclosporine. I'm so worried now, can't stop crying I'm that scared.

I have had idiopathic hives for 11 months. Have been on all kinds of meds and prednisone. I was weaned off pred. 10 days ago. Have noticed side effects immediately from cyclosporin which I have been taking for 5 months. Good news, no more hives to date. Bad news, side effects. I have lost hair from head, growing hair elsewhere. Nausea, vomiting, headache, swelling of legs, extreme fatigue, bladder issues. Physician says I need to stay on it for the next 6 months. Not happy. Don't take it unless you have to! Read More Read Less

My son is 3yrs old and has Nephrotic Syndrome (MCD) and just got put on this medicine last month. He hates taking it b/c it tastes so bad. So we tried the pill form which he did well with, but the pills are making him very nauseated and causing him to throw up. Not impressed with this medicine so far.

After 9 months of chronic hives with horrific, constant itching, I gave up on dermatologist who had put me on an assortment of creams and prednisone and went to allergist who this this med. Rash totally subsided over two weeks at 100mg/day. After taking it for 2 months, doc began down to 50mg/day Friday, but over the weekend, the welts are returning, with same viscous itching. (Sheets are covered with bloody spots.) Will be calling MD Monday to see if I can go back to 100mg/day.

I took the drug for eczema and it eliminated the scabbing etc that I had. I haven't taken the drug in at last two years and I am still dealing with the side effect. Cyclosporine comes from mushrooms which have psychological effects. What happens to me is that when I scratch I get an intense exremely pleasureable rush. The relief from scratching is not understood but it is related to opiates. When I get a rush I feel like my brain is being flooded with dopomine. I put my hands under hot water and raise the heat as my pleasure rush intensifies. I do it until I can't stand the thrill. I hate it. I want my btrain returned to normal and I don't know where to turn. I've told my doctor who looks at me bewildered. Read More Read Less

I took this drug for about 9 months. I have pustular psoriasis on my hands. It drastically reduces the use of my hands. However, after taking the drug for 9 months, I now have stage 2 kidney disease that is irreversable.

I was put on this medication a year almost two years ago. My doctor up and quit on me and I had only a few days left, knowing I can't miss a dose of this medication my parent's heart doctor started perscribing it for me. He then recomended a doctor in Dallas Texas.. Now this doctor and my parent's Heart Doctor are trying to get me off this medicine, I honestly hate having to take it, It's taken over my life and i want it out. I'm very thankful it stopped my exzema and other sever skin problems, but im ready to be off this nasty pill. although once i'm taken off this medicine i have to be put on a new one which is me having to give myself a shot in the stomach everyday. It's not fun and really not an easy journey. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medication for over 20 years and to date my experience has been relatively satisfactory. In other words I have had no problems with it. Since my transplant has now failed it means more surgery to remove the transplant in order to stop taking this medication and eliminate the side-effects.

I had very bad eczema which was resistant to every treatment bar prednisone, within three days of starting this treatment my eczema totally disappeared and it has left my skin in a the most amazing state of softness. I have experienced sore hands and joints, as well as a lot of nausea and an overactive bladder. But hey small price to pay, so to sum it up cyclosporine is my wonder treatment and I love it. P.s don't drink a lot of alcohol if you are taking it, the hangovers are out of control and it seemed to effect me particularly strongly Read More Read Less

I am taking this drug because I have a thyroid autoimmune disease. This has been very effective in preventing the head to toe hives I was breaking out in for almost 6 months. It took about that long and visits to four different doctors to have my disease diagnosed. It worked within just 24 hours of the first dose. I have experienced almost all of the side effects as well as bladder control issues. I was prescribed this medicine when all the allergy medicines I was taking provided no relief from my hives. I am still taking 3 allergy medicines and thyroid hormone, as well. Read More Read Less

son has focal segmental glomeruloserosis. I was first relectant to try this strong medication. It is the only that has worked. My son who was giving a few years for his kidney to fail, is now in compete remission. He only took this drug 6 months instead of the two years he was prescribed with.I strongly recoment this drug for kids with protenuria or FSGS instead of the predinosone.
