I suffered for 6 months while six medical doctors tried to diagnose my itching and red spots. Just because other folks in your household do not not have symptoms like you does not discount SCABIES as the culprit. All of my doctors assumed just that. Suddenly one day my wife started having similar symptoms so my primary care provider decided it was time to administer the cream. The cream was ap...

I was diagnoized with Scabies 5 days ago. I had the itching about 2 weeks before going to the Dr. My granddaughter was itching too, so she went to the Dr. and was diagnoized with Scabies. Her Dr. told her that she had caught it from a puppy that she had gotten that had the mange. I also took care of the puppy. Some say that the mite that infects animals can't be transferred to humans. But, her Dr...

I have put this insecticide on my body four times and I still am having mites and scratching. I didn't know to put it on the soles of my feet so I am now dealing with that. These little Scabies have ruined my life for 2 1/2 months. I am a school teacher and got them the last week of school or so before my retirement. It has been hell. I took pills and did the treatment with the Permethrin and I got reinfected. My husband never got one bite, he evidently was a carrier and never showed symptoms. I might have gotten scabies from sheets at a hotel. It is hard to tell. I am now ordering holistic / natural remedies like Dr. Scabies products. I will find out if they work. It is horrible to live with this little microscopic porcupine monster parasite. Cold showers and soaking feet in cold water helps. Curel lotion and Sarna lotion seem to help. Did I mention after the treatments of Permethrin I was still scratching until I was bleeding. This is one of the most horrible experiences I have lived through. I must have really been infested with these things and didn't know what it was for a long time. My MD put me on Prednisone and it did nothing, I kept scratching, arms, stomach, lower back, upper thighs and then later on my feet. Good luck with this medication. It does not kill the eggs. I told my dermatologist that it does not kill them all.Read More Read Less

My son had scabies for a month before alerting me,hmmpf! I have used neem oil and eucalypus oil and then permethrin, huge coverage of rash now which appears only vaguely related to the infection sites. it is vital to understand their lifecycle as the eggs are not killed and then after 10 days or so the nymphs become adults and the cycle renews. I eventually cut of my (very long and precious) hair because they had got into my scalp and i needed to be able to apply cream there. unhappily they got from there into my face and the swellings are immense, I'm uncertain if this is reacting to the scabies or treatment. I have been bagging all cloths and bedding for three days then hot water washing. I'm only in the first month so there seems to be a ways to go yet. This is a most unwelcomed process, i wish you well.Read More Read Less

But, her Dr. disagrees. I'm on my first week of using this cream. My Dr. told me to apply all over and let it stay for 14 hr. then wash off and apply again after 14 days. If it doesn't help I going to use Lava soap that's what one reader suggested. Makes sense to me.Read More Read Less

My grandsons brought home scabies after spending a couple of weeks with their dad. Before the mite was identified they spread to several other family members. We have treated with Permethrin. The boys cleared up but I have have treated and retreated. I have washed linens and clothing, even set off bug bombs in the house. The day after I treat new red bumps pop up. I know I have over treated. I have a painful, sun burn like rash around my neck. I know the itch can linger for weeks but when a new bump comes up the day after treatment I feel like it is not working. I itch from head to toe and am at my whits end. I need help to rid these unwanted pests! Does anyone have any other suggestions???Read More Read Less

This is the third time in my life I have had Scabies, the first from sleeping in a not so clean place, the second from a partner and this time I have NO IDEA as I haven't been with anyone or slept anywhere in months. Each of my instances were years apart. Both previous times I've used Permethrin and noticed results right away. This time however my first use brought everything out and they were pissed...SO I did a second treatment 4 days later and I'm itch free in most places but my leg.. I'm literally TERRIFIED to touch anything.. I hear its supposed to rash for a few days after, but with the holidays and being supposed to see my family, I'm really concerned.. Read More Read Less

I keep reading a bunch of people saying that the Permethrin did not work. This is most likely not the truth. It's important to note that it is a nerve poison and the itching will continue for weeks to possibly YEARS afterwards depending on how long you had scabies. It is BAD for your skin but the benefits outweigh the bad - unless directed, do not treat more than your doctor says because it will severely harm your skin. Your skin is sensitive because it has debris still in it and you have a chemical burn from a nerve poison. There is also a psychological effect associated with scabies - you may think they are not gone. Your body will itch due to your mind thinking you're still infested. Again, this may last weeks to years depending on how long you were infested. You are highly likely to be re-infested if you do not pin-point the source of the infestation. I was infested again because my friends were infested and they did not realize it. Your environment is highly important - including your friends and family. The mite is also selective and likes some people more than others - much like mosquitoes, they target certain people more 'tastier' people.Read More Read Less

Just because other folks in your household do not not have symptoms like you does not discount SCABIES as the culprit. All of my doctors assumed just that. Suddenly one day my wife started having similar symptoms so my primary care provider decided it was time to administer the cream. The cream was applied as instructed and the next day I saw a tremendous reduction in itching and redness. It has been 3 days and I still improve a little each day. Will re-apply cream as a follow-up therapy in one week. So far, I am very happy with the results. No side effects. It is very critical to remember and understand that itching will continue for some time after treatment. So, be prepared to control the itch and discomfort until the mite and the residue they created is flushed from your skin. Oh yes, take time to read the instruction sheet packed in the boz with your cream. It will answerer a lot of your questions. Good Luck !!Read More Read Less

I have been suffering from scabies for almost a year now. I have done the creme 6 times and still no relief. My knees and elbows are all scarred up because of the scratching. There's gotta be a better medication for this. It's driving me crazy.

My 13yr.old was diagnosed on Tuesday as the doctor looked at her legs with otoscope/microscope. On thursday i was back with my `8 yr. old. We all have been treated with permethrin. still very itch. I have just ordered a product I found on web. The reviewers seem to have had very good luck with this product. After reading these reviews my opinion of modern medicine is re-enforced. Doctors don't have all the answers. It's impossible to clean everything in your house and the clothes of 5 people in one day. I have notified all my friends and the school principal. Don't believe the school relizes how serious this desease is. Goodluck to all.uscdtf Read More Read Less

I have used this medication 3 times. I started itching about 9 months ago. Dealt with it for about 4 months thinking it was allergies or something. Finally went to Dr. I follow the instructions to the letter and I was EVERYTHING around. I don't have anyone else in my bed. And yet it has not gone away. The medication lessens the itching for a while, but never makes it go away. I am filling a prescription for it again next week and I am going to layer it on me, wash EVERYTHING again and I am going to put a layer of it on my mattress and on my couch. It is starting to drive me crazy!Read More Read Less
