I am 26 years old. A year ago I was diagnosed with sub-clinical hypothyroidism, so we began treatment. I started with 25 mcg, moved to 50, 62.5 and am now on 75mcg. I like the tablets because they are easy to split (hence the 62.5) and the different dosage levels are different colors. That way when I increase my dose, I don't get the tablets confused. I've read some reviews with people who sa...

I was on Levoxyl for years and had a severe reaction to it that the doctor never picked up on. it was Awful being itchy all the time for no reason and nothing would cure the itch that was only located on my thighs down to my toes. I would scratch until I would have bad black and blues bigger than the size of 2 Half Dollars. I have a large family, and once I discovered it, it just so happens that m...

I was only 28 when I found out about my thyroid condition. I have been taking this for about 9 years. The first three years seemed like I was myself again. I started out at .25 then a few years later .50 now I'm at .75, I ask to be tested every 3 months, mostly because my symptoms haven’t gone away, some have but not all and they seem to be getting worse. My hubby wakes me before work to swallow my pill. The weekends I’m on my own and don’t always take it until around 10am. You can’t eat after taking it and then when you do take it you don’t feel like eating. I still have hair loss, although I have thick hair thank god, I have cold hands, always tired but I don’t sleep well. I can have serious constipation and then diarrhea, back and forth between the too, all the time. I started taking a probiotic and it helped for a week and now dark poop. Doc says “your thyroid is within range” It’s got to be this medication. I must try something else. Read More Read Less

I have had over and underactive thyroid disease off and on for 5 years. My dr would put me on meds until my thyroid range would go back the normal. The last flare up I had was in Dec.2012 my dr put me on Levoxyl tabs and my thyroid is back to normal. I am feeling so much better and have lost 15 pounds.

I have been on levoxyl for 9 years for hashimotos, still can't lose weight. I have slight hair loss, I get tired but wired and cannot sleep very good. I canot take synthroid, cannot sleep at all on it. Generic gave me severe body aches, depression, and extreme fatigue. I would like to find a doc who will prescribe pig hyroid, synthetics don'tseem to work very good for me.

I was diagnosed with graves disease 20 years ago and have been on this medication ever since. I have been satisfied with it, but wonder if it does have side effects and what they are?

I set the alarm 20 min. before I want to get up and keep water and medicine next to the bed. I can take the pill, then sleep 20 more minutes, and in the 10 minutes it takes to dress and wash up, I can eat. Have had no problems: it shrunk the tumor on my thyroid, I have more energy, and don't experience the lightheadedness I had experienced since teen years (I'm 59).

My thyroid gland was destroyed before, during or after major surgery. I gained 80 pounds in four months! I was put on 175 mcg's of a generic version of Levoxyl. I had zero energy, zero appetite, was confused most of the time and was just miserable. I ate very little, exercised regularly but only lost 1 pound a month. I've been on Levoxyl now for two months and feel like my old self. I've lost 12 pounds so far. My mind is clear, no more fog. The only side effect I've noticed is loss of hair, lots of it. I have taken this med for about eight years. Didn't know my thyroid level was low until I had a physical. Dr. started me on the lowest dose and every 6 months increase the dosage until my current maintenance level of 88mcg. No side effects ever. Be sure to get a periodic blood test to see if your dose strength needs to be adjusted.

Wow, many poor symptoms. Had to take it on an empty stomach and this caused bright red bleeding with bowel movements after 1 week. Lost track of time, it could be 10 am or 6 pm and I had to look at the clock to know what time it was, I had no internal clock or feeling of what time it was. I lost weight (not a bad side effect). I did feel more energy and did not need to sleep as much, only 7 or 8 hours vs. 9 or 11. Knot in throat feeling every day bothered me greatly. Heart feels like it is stressed out and has pain. Stomach pain. Ears felt like sound was muffled and a stick was poking in them on day 2 and 3. Very good side effect was my writing skills were awesome, my communication while writing was fantastic, I had no trouble thinking about sentence structure or getting my thoughts across. Decided the side effects were too much for me, I even tried half a pill. This medicine was too strong for me but I am very sensitive to most drugs.Read More Read Less

I have used this drug for many years and am wondering if another brand would be better as I still feel tired much of the time and other symptoms of hypothyroidism are prevalent.

Levoxyl caused severe muscle weakness and pain for the 7 months I took it. I lost 20 lbs (and didn't need to). It caused gastroparesis. TSH was all over the place every time I got retested. I evidently need T3; I switched to Naturethroid and am doing much better now.

I have just starting taking the drug about 5 months ago and still trying to get the dose regulated. I am now taking 75mcg. I find it dissolves quickly and you have to swallow fast. If I don't get it down fast it can act like a hoarse voice for a short time. I get dull headaches and my energy level fluctuates. I seem to have an increased appetite, but don't seem to be gaining a lot. I have noticed increased irritability. All the negative things I will need to discuss with my doctor after investigating the side effects more closely. When you are over 50 you sometimes attribute it to age, but now I am not so sure. thanks for all the reviews..it helps.Read More Read Less
