Finally started taking this a few years ago and it works great. After 30 years I can tell when it's coming so take this right away. I know it is expensive and I only get 12 per month. What I do is get the 40 mg and cut in half with a sharp pill splitter. Have been told that they won't work that way, BUT they do. Sometimes have to take another half but many times this works and I do it because ...

I'm apparently sensitive to medication, but Relpax did nothing for me. I took a dose in school about noon, and nothing happened. At one point, it reacted with my other medication and caused me to have an allergic reaction (I was taking Verapimil, Topimax, and Nortriptlyne). I still have a good amount of pills I haven't used yet.

Works for regular migraines, but is not effective with menstrual migraines. Also, very expensive.

Found it effective, however was given conflicting information on just how much to take from doctors. Found I was over using the medication. It was working for me great at the beginning but since has lost it effectiveness. Doctors must need to inform the patient. You can ONLY take MAX two within a 4 hour window. Then must seek er or medical attention right away. No more then 4 pills within one week. My doctors failed to mention this to me, and cause severe problems, no information is available on the web for this and should be noted. Side effects are serious if you should take more then 4 during a 7 day period and can cause problems..which i found out the hard way. Medication is good - but do not over use and seek help should it not work right away.Read More Read Less

When I began taking Relpax, I classified it as a miracle drug. I would get a migraine, take a Relpax (I also took two aspirin, about an hour later) and the headache would vanish. I have been taking Relpax for years, sometimes as many as once a day. In the last several months, I have been experiencing terrible withdrawals if I do not take a Relpax, namely, crippling headaches, exhaustion, sore throat, etc. There is a website "Relpax withdrawals" that you should check out. So now I'm in trouble; this is the only thing that gets rid of my migraines, and if I don't take one every day, I get a migraine. I'm seeing my doctor next week to find a way out of this mess.Read More Read Less

This is the first time I've taken this medication. It worked in under 30 minutes. I've not taken anything that has relieve my headaches so quickly. I became a little dizzy and groggy so the next time I take it, I will lie down. I'm excited about it!

Usually within a half hour my migraine starts to go away. This med only last about 8 - 10 hrs then it comes back again. My migraines usually last 3-4 days so I do need to be careful in taking another pill too soon or I feel like I'm OD'ing but wish it would last more like 12-24 hrs.

Relpax is the only abortive medication that has worked for me. It's tricky because you have to take it at the first sign of a migraine, and it won't work if the migraine has already started. Insurance only covers 4 tablets a month, and since they're around $40 per tablet, it's hard to decide if each headache is worth treating with the expensive pill. I can't wait for a generic version to be released.

I have suffered from migraines all my life and have tried too many narcotics, daily preventative meds, and triptans to list, and none have been as effective as relpax. It has been like a miracle drug for me. I do have to take it before the migraine gets too severe though because then I begin a hellish 12 to 16 hour period of vomiting (at least 4 episodes of vomiting each hour, each exacerbating my already severe pain) before my migraine subsides. During that time, I'm naturally incapable of keeping anything down. I hear that vomiting actually signals the end many people's migraine attacks. I wish that were the case for me. My first episode of vomiting is merely a signal that I've reach my pain-level peak which will now sustain itself for another 12-16 hours! My only complaint about relpax is the extreme sleepiness and fatigue I experience several hours after taking it and which lasts all day. Nevertheless, I'll take that any time over the severe and sustained pain of a migraine! I pray that no serious side affects (endangering my life) are discovered with years of sustained use. I am 48 and take 5 to 6 monthly, and have done so for about 5 years.Read More Read Less

I am 42 years old and my Migraines started when I was 6 ... Nothing has helped me over the years. I lived my live around those headaches. Try having one on an International flight :-( I have been giving Relpax 6 years ago now and take 40 mg + 2 Aleve ... I can manover around after only 1 hour! I honestly can say that I would not been able to ride my horses, live an active life or just simply participate in every day aktivities without it.

i have suffered with migraines for over 20yrs i have found they come on when my neck is out of place. relpax is the only drug i have taken that takes away all of the pain. it leaves you a little tired, but that is better than the pain. i will go to chiropactor and get 4-5 treatments and my migraines will go away untill my neck goes out again.

I have lived with migraines for 18 years and have gone through so many different treatments before my doctor switched me to Botox injections every 3 months and Relpax for when I get a migraine. Both are miracle's to me. I was having about 28 migraines a month with recurring to no relief at all. Now I only get about 5 a month and I take the Relpax and it is gone within an hour or so. The only down side is that I get 9 a month and have to pay 13 dollars for them.

After 3 nerve release surgery, I started being treated for the new picture of my illness. The first try was treating with Relpax. Extremely expensive, impossible to be approved by my insurance for the correct number of tablets a week...First week - I was supposed to take a max of 4 a week - it helped a bit...3rd week, my headache - which is milder after the surgeries - were back, not as intense, not as steady, but back.

First time using it - got rid of the headache within minutes - which I LOVED but the side effects are really making think I don't want to take it again. I got the tightness in the chest and jaw and I just feel completely drained. Maybe it will get better since it was my first time taking it. I rarely have any of the side effects noted so this was a first for me. Would have given it 5 stars all around if it weren't for that weird feeling I got. I would give it 100 stars just for getting rid of the pain :-)Read More Read Less
