I am 62 years old, have been taking sinemet 25/100's for 21 years. I started initially on 3/day, currently take 5/day. Drug has been a life saver. I need a walker to get around every morning until the first dose takes effect. Minor side effects. Careful with diet, and exercise regularly. Take no other PD related drugs.

For PD, been on low baby dose (1.5 tab 3/day) for 2 years, only affect has been to make me dizzy and nauseous. The more I try to take, the sicker I get. Tried 2 tabs at one time and I had to lay down from the sickness. Felt OK after the sickness passed (about 1.5 hrs) but the sickness was too much to be able to function in the world. Down to taking only 1 tab twice/day. Not very effective for...

I am 52 have had RLS for 4 yrs. I have taken 10/100 tabs Sinemet for 2 yrs + and have had positive results. I find large amounts of caffeine aggravate my RLS. Also due to depression I spend afternoons napping and sometimes require an extra 1/2 tab to control RLS.

Prescribed for RLS. Take one tab of 25/100 just before bedtime (along with 25mg Amitryptaline). RLS symptoms greatly reduced allowing sleep thru the night. Now and then I must take a 2nd dose an hour or so later. Before this drug I was a mess. I only hope my results don't diminish over time as is predicted.

I have been prescribed sinemet for restless legs syndrome and had some relief but it has become less and have had to increase dosage. I am concerned about long term and increased use and side effects.

I was prescribed this drug for RLS. It caused excessive insomnia, inability to concentrate and I saw flashes of lights that were not there. It was a terrible and frightening experiences for me. The Dr. took me off it after 4 weeks and it took another 3 weeks for s/s to get better.

Sinemet taken for RLS early in the day makes me sleepy; but not when taken at bedtime. After taking it for 1 year, effect has waned and dose must be increased. For that first year, it worked wonderfully, with no side effects. What a relief from years of RLS misery!

Personally, I do not see a great deal of change. My family feels the med has improved my PD.

I was prescribed this medication for RLS and even though it worked on RLS I could not sleep since the side effect of sleeplessness kept me up!

Once I added provigil and adjusted dosage this drug was miraculous but before that I had narcolepsy and catalepsy symptoms that would put me on the floor without warning. Be very careful when switching from a dopamine agonist to this drug. It took 4 months to find a solution to the narcolepsy problem and I had to add midodrene to combat orthostatic hypotension for a couple of months. I went from barely functional on dopamine agonists to almost a total invalid initially on sinemet for four months. You must avoid large amounts of food particularly meat for at least 30 minutes, preferably an hour, after you take the drug and two hours before or your symptoms will come back in full force which is not fun. It is well worth switching. I am basically normal now when the medication is working after 8 years of fairly severe symptoms. I also don't take any sinemet during the night. Last CR is at 7:30pm and first is at 7:30 am in the morning. I take .5 mg of azilect at night and 1/4 tablet of lowest dose clonazapam to stop acting out dreams. Read More Read Less

I have used this med for RLS about a year now. I began with a low dose at night which helped for some time however at about 9 months of use it began to wain in it's effectiveness. Just recently had dose increased and using a CR dose twice a day. Seems to help with occational breakthrough when I am close to my next dose. Overall satisfied and easy drug to tolerate.
