Constant bleeding from the uterus, clotting, the bleeding consumes my day.

I took the drug for heavy bleeding. Was very agitated like bad PMS. My Dr reduced the dosage. Have severe calf and bicep pain. I would rather bleed. Not the drug for me

I was 112 pds when my doctor prescribed megace to me. i have always wanted to be 145 but was unable to gain weight on my own due to hiv. i have always very skinny and puny looking. after drinking megace for 2 weeks i had already gained 35 pds. i was so exstatic tht something had finally worked i didnt realize unhealthy it was. my heart rate increased and it a long time 4 it to get back normal. my stomach was huge... i looked like i was pregnant. my face swelled on one side and a had a double chin. i also bled for about 2 mths and had blood clots. this product almost cost me my life and i wish i never had taken. i am self concious now. i would do anything to go back tht i was. my metabolism has changed and i gain weight fast and i lose it fast. this medicine ruined my life and it should be banned. any1 looking to gain weight try doing it the healthy way unless you dont care about looking big & sloppy. I took it because I have endometrial stromal sarcoma, a very rare cancer.I could not stand the weight gain, the headaches, the terrible pain in stomach, bp went sky high, then attacks of low blood sugar. Terrible fatigue like no other drug. I had to stop it after 3 months.

Megace - this medication cause very very serious side effective - one that I am dealing with is that my left arm is very numb and I feel as if something running down my left arm and eating away at my bones also extensive amount of burining sensation on all five finger tips only. My reg doc said its artrist but I believe - that is her excuse for any that hurts. Help!

The reason for taking this medication was to simply "gain weight". All my life I have been very thin and have tried many products but this actually worked in such a short time frame. However, the draw back is that I have been off this medication for some time now and unable to get pregnant. I have discussed this with my gyn and this was one of the causes to the situation. So, if there is anyone outthere who simply wants to put weight on, ask questions.

Gained a lot of weight , which dint' bother me but i think i ate so much i put my body into shock. I had the shakes for days. Stoped using megace after about 3 weeks,,,,gained 15 pounds and very content with that

I started taking this because I lost a signficant amount of weight being HIV. I gained 25 lbs in 4 months. It definitely puts fat and weight on you, which is fantastic. POS - made my face look fuller (no more sunken in cheeks), gained overall weight to entire body NEG - i gained alot of weight in my stomach area, which was not appealing. I had now developed a gut, which a problem for me. If you aren't body conscience or care about having a stomach/big gut, its a great product. I have to get rid of the stomach that it gave me. Before I was 127 and now I am 154. That part has made me elated. Now that I have gained the weight I needed, I am going off the product. I am taking a weight gain product and start exercising. My appetite is stimulated now, so I feel confident I can stop taking this product and with a strong work out program and the weight gain products, I will be able to maintain. The good news now is that I won't have this stomach. But overrall, if you have lost a signficant or alot of weight, your cheeks look sunken in, or overrall you just look frail due to HIV, I would highly recomment this product. Read More Read Less

The only bad thing I can say about Megace is the side effects for me were not great. It caused weight gain, but I was told it should go away after my surgery to correct my condition. But it did stop my problem of having extreme bleeding with my endometriosis.

I was put on megace to shrink a tumor,which it did. I also gained 30#. I was on it for 11yrs. I blame it for a cyst on my right ovary & one behind my rt knee.

I am 51 and had a hysterectomy 20 years ago. I am taking Megace to shrink what three gyno's think may be a tumor, hydrosalpinx or endometriosis. My blood pressure shot up to 162/102. I was at my family doctor and he put me on BP meds. He says it is because of this medicine. I am very fit, but a little frightened of this drug. Any help?

This drug saved my life! I was losing weight due to cancer. I had dropped 72 pounds over the course of 5 weeks. My onocologist suggested this drug and it has reversed the appetite loss; I'm now gaining weight and my strength.

My 87 yo mother was put on Megace for appetite stimulation following a stroke.Be fore going on this, she was able to talk and carry on a conversation, one week post stroke.After three days on this,she had mood swings,seemed unable to talk, and these symptoms increased,she was on it for 3 weeks until I insisted it be stopped.She also was nauseous and barely able to hold up her head.I feel she had another stroke while on this medication and it was undetected by the rehab facility,as she has never regained the level she was at before taking this.Read More Read Less

I was given this drug because of heavy bleeding w/periods because of fibroids. I had recent heart attack and was placed on ASA/Plavix. Am 48yrs old had only had bleeding/anemia as a symptom. Uterus was 10 wk size, put on Megace daily about 5 weeks after my last period and didn't have a period until 3 wks later. It was a lighter period that lasted 4 wks. I had a week off and started with bleeding small amounts daily. Normal endo Bx and Fibroids have grown 2cm which I now feel abdominal pressure/bloating. Which is new for me. I am sure it is related to Megace. My Gyno now recomends a hysterectomy because of the continued bleeding. I just went off it hoping that my periods will return regularly however the more I read the more I'm really uncertain. I absolutely would not have gone on the Megace knowing what I know now. I would have dealt with the incovnience of a heavy bleeding for 1-2 days versus the hormonal stuff. Read More Read Less

I have been off this for 10 years. After the birth of my son I cannot lose weight and have a thyroid condition. I beleive the megace ruined my metabolism.
