I made the mistake of reading these reviews when I recently prescribed Junel and almost called my doctor to switch before even trying. I decided to stick it out given that my experiences with Ortho and Cyclessa were horrendous anyway. I AM SO HAPPY I DID. Bottom line- you have to try it to know if it works for you or not. I haven't had a single side effect. If anything, my mood has improved drasti...

It straightened out my period immediately, after months of unpredictable spotting, very, very heavy periods with huge clots, and not being given a chance to keep my iron levels up. I was resistant to try BC because I never had used it before, keep an open mind, it's just been a fantastic remedy for me.

I'm at the end of my first pack. And ever since i started the pill , I've had vaginal inching (yeast infection), increase acne (never really had acne before starting to take this), some spotting, paranoid ALOT, cry ALOT, feeling very depressed. This I had a different brand before and they both have stucked! Thinking of not even taking birth control and just sticking with condoms!

This is my first time using BC I am a 25 year old female and I finished the last pill yesterday 1/12/12. The following is my personal experience. I have not been feeling like myself lately and decided to look up Junels side effects and reviews. I am extremely glad I did because I thought something was wrong with me. I kept asking myself everyday what’s wrong with me lately. My mood has changed and I feel blah towards everything. My moods are like a roller coaster but mostly downer moods. I have migraines everyday and developed a yeast infection as well. I noticed my urine would be darker sometimes too. My boyfriend has even felt neglected and sexually deprived. Normally I have a high sex drive; that sign alone I knew something was wrong. Today is day 5 of NO sex. I have absolutely ZERO desire. It has decreased from sex from everyday (when I wasn’t on BC) to gradually decreasing to nothing. I don’t have the want or get turned on for sex and even have vaginal dryness. I have been told I lost weight but I beg to differ I feel I have gained weight. I had difficulty remembering to take the pill daily too. I’m glad other women have posted their experiences on Junel; I now understand I am not the only one feeling crazy on this pill! Before using Junel I was recently pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy but born stillborn on 11/13/12. I do not like the moods Junel makes you feel. I have enough emotions enduring the loss of my first born. Once my menstrual cycle started my doctor told me to start the pills on the 2nd day of my period. I do not recommend it and I will discontinue the use. Please discuss with your doctor thoroughly before taking this method of BC. -First and Last time User!Read More Read Less

I have been on this BC pill for 2 months now. Ive taken it before and last time and this time the first month I have missed my period. Its very irregular and my face has broken out with acne and I have never had acne except when on my period. I'm always tired but I guess it's worth it when you aren't getting pregnant.

Too much break-thru bleeding while on Junel for me. Switched to Kariva and all's well.

I just started my fourth month of Junel. It's not what my doctor prescribed, but my insurance company switched me... I'm beginning to wonder if the $50 for the non-covered brand, might be a better deal for me. Trying to trace this odd rash I got on my eyelids shortly after starting on Junel. It's on my neck now also. I have also had yeast infections, and wondering if kidney stones are attributatable also? Who knows? Moody, yes... Lower libido, check... Doctors appointment, next!

Still constantly paranoid that I may be pregnant (due to breast tenderness) but overall, I have been pleased with this birth control. Taking a pill is always a pain but it is definitely the cheapest option. As far as side effects, I have noticed an increase in headaches but no weight gain or hair loss. My periods have been less severe but not shorter in duration.

I have been very happy with Junel. This is the 1st pill I have taken w/o horrible side effects. I experienced slight nausea and cramping on day 2, but that's gone away. I have slightly elevated hunger level, so I have needed to be conscious of food intake. No bloating, spotting, and weight gain. My libido has increased and my acne cleared up.

I have been on this B.C. for a year and a half and have been unpset with it from the begining. My sex drive is almost compeletly gone. Recently my period has been so irregular. I have had my period for 10 days with really bad acne. I would rather deal with having a bigger chance of getting pregnant than take this pill any more.

When I first got on this pill, I noticed mild mood swigs. However, my period was great, it lasted only a day or 2 and I got no cramps what so ever. My sex drive was still normal untill now, I have been on it for a year and I have no desire to have sex. I still have the ability to self lubricate and to have an orgasm. Also, after 3 months of being on this pill, I realized it calmed me down and I was much happier. Overall I love this pill but I want my sex drive back.

This was my first birth control pill. I was not at all pleased with it. The first two things that I noticed was a very gassy feeling & a substantial increase in hair loss. I was literally horrified with the amount of hair that I lost while washing and combing it in the shower. Also, my libido took a very noticeable nose dive. I understand that abstinence is always a good form of birth control. Had I chosen to go that route I wouldn't be paying for an oral contraceptive to begin with... I did end up with a yeast infection, mid-pack. After the initial 21 days/pills, my abdomen felt as though it were having menstrual cramps coupled with bloating. There was no change in my complexion, appetite or weight.Read More Read Less

I got switched to this drug automatically through insurance. I had really bad mood swings for a month and was constantly crying. I have really bad acne and sever loss of sex drive which is straining my relationship. Side effects have not subsided after 6 months. I am switching asap because I can't take it anymore.

I had never been on birth control before Junel. My periods would come once every two months and it worried me a lot to the point that I thought I was pregnant. I also had really freaking bad cramps. So when I started taking this birth control, my period was really heavy for a whole week and super bad cramping the first day and I felt sick all the time. I experienced a lot of spotting in the first month, but thats it! I did not gain weight and I only had acne for a few days. The second month my period only lasted about two days, and my cramps weren't as bad as they usually were. There hasn't been any problems. The last week before my period I was spotting and now I'm on my period again and I didn't even have cramps at all. The blood is really coagulated so I couldn't even tell I was on my period until I went to the bathroom. Weird! BUT I love Junel. I suppose its different for everyone! Read More Read Less

I am taking this pill for Birth control AND Heavy/Irregular menstrual cycles. I have been on Junel 1-20 for about three months and all I have noticed is my period was less intense in both bleeding and pain, but it still lasted 8days. however, now I am heavilly spotting just a week and two days after ending my period. ive felt most of the less severe side effects and am highly considering getting off the pill, but will talk to my doctor about it.
