My OBGyn did not want to prescribe this to me as he is anti-HRT. However, as sex in my late 50s was becoming more and more painful and no amount of lube in a tube was helping, I insisted so he gave in. Hallelujah, sex doesn't hurt anymore. Yes, there's discharge (just like the old days - I consider that a benefit) and minor breast tenderness. My two beefs are these: predatory pricing (latest scrip...

I know the cream works but the cream in the tube comes out without pressure. It's expensive and I feel like I am wasting my money. I wrote to Pfizer about the problem they have done nothing. A lot of women have the same problem. We can't keep wasting money Pfizer needs to find a better way. at $200 + a tube it is insane that the tube any tube would be so volatile.

I was prescribed the Premarin vaginal cream to help address my vaginal prolapse. I was to use it every night for 2 weeks, then 1-2 times/week after that, indefinitely. I had to stop using the cream after 1 week. I began to feel an ache in my lower abdomen, similar to the sensation one might have with a bladder infection. I went to my MD & did not have a bladder infection. After I stopped the cream, my symptoms went away after 4 days. I also developed pain in 1 breast. Since my prolapse was not causing any symptoms, I decided that stopping the cream improved my quality of life. Read More Read Less

As for the effectiveness, etc., of the medicine, it has worked. The prescription was changed to another brand about 1 1/2 years ago. Within months, the vaginal lining had thinned and intercourse was painful again. When I was put back on Premarin the vaginal wall healed. However, Premarin manufacturing had changed and the cream was now squirting from the tube. I was not getting the number of applications I was supposed to. In contacting Pfizer, they asked me to send them the tube and the receipt and they would send me reimbursement. Nice, but I need the medicine and the pharmacy will not fill the order until allowed by insurance. I reported it to Express Scripts, who did send me a new tube in exchange for the one with the air bubble. Fine for that one occasion, however, it is routinely happening. I was fortunate to have a sample tube that has been a backup. The tube should be giving me 20 prescribed doses, it is only giving 14. I have discussed this with the pharmacy twice since. The last time the pharmacist told me that air doesn't have weight and that the tube is sold by weight so the right amount should be in the tube. Feeling like a dummy, I thanked her and hung up. However, the applicator is by gram measurement; the tube is by gram weight. When an air bubble pushes the cream out, (even though I have found a way to stop to much loss), the air bubble still takes up anywhere from a quarter to a half of the tube. The price keeps going up; there is not enough in the tubes to get me through the refill period, and the insurance company's "preferred" alternative does not work for me. I wish someone at Pfizer would at least take this seriously enough to review their manufacturing practices. I am glad to see that others are finally speaking out. Anyone who is experiencing this, please write to Pfizer and to your pharmacist. It is frustrating and should not be allowed to continue without being addressed. Read More Read Less

The last time I spent $100 on a small tube. If I knew the cost had escalated, I would not have purchased. (I try to use it sparingly because of possible side affects.) Today I called Kroger pharmacy to check the price & it was $221!! Again Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance did not cover anything. I said CANCEL MY PRESCRIPTION. I will NEVER purchase Premarin cream again.

I was very satisfied with this drug BEFORE they changed the tube. The newer design is horrible. Cream keeps shooting out and the cap is impossible to screw back on quickly. I sometimes use caps from different medicines to replace the horrible cap. I feel that the new design is on purpose to make the cream run out sooner so you have to pay for a new tube. The designers should be ashamed of this obvious ploy.

Just as I was starting my second week I read an article on PMU mares, it is their hormones (conjugated) that are harvested to make Premarin. I could not believe the horrible lives these horses lead just to make a pharma company rich. I flushed them down the toilet.

Conjucated estrogen comes from the hormones gathered from pregnant mares' urine. The side effects for woman can be deadly. The lives of PMU mares are deadly; and a mare must always be pregnant. No pregnancy, no hormones. The foals? Some are rescued. Some are killed on the farms and some are sent to slaughter. There are other means of treating your inability to have comfortable sex than to share in the the abuse of PMU mares and foals. Digitas Health, the creative agency for Premarin doesn't even explain what congugated hormones are. They are banking on the fact that women don't care. Care.Read More Read Less

Only got 15 doses out of a "30" dose tube and ran out one month early! Sexual intercouse noticeable better after one months of starting treatment. Next tube I plan on carefully measuring for actual dosage that comes out!

There is no way that you can get 30 doses out of a 30gm tube! I got about 15 doses and now have ran out one month early. Too hard to get capped to prevent the cream from squirting out. Sexual intercourse less painful though so I'll continue using it even though it is very expensive.

It has helped with dryness but is not only messy but several times there have been air bubbles in the tubes so you pay for a lot of product that you don't get. Why can't you make it in suppository form, then no mess and no waste.

I see that it is expensive and wanted to let everyone know that my doctor gave me a card and it only cost 15.00 with the card. So you may want to check with your doctor about that.

The applicator is painful to use stiff sharp like edges.a soft contour would be better or a suppository form would be better for me. Compliance is difficult due to the above mentioned problems.

I too have had reasonably good results with Premarin cream, but as others have noted, I've had 4 tubes in a row, from two different pharmacies, that had significant air bubbles. This means the tube was never full, and I routinely get between half and two-thirds the doses I should be getting. I've filled the applicator a bit less than the 1 gram mark, then unscrew it, use the end of the applicator (there's space at the bottom from where it was threaded onto the tube) to wipe off the excess that keeps squirting out, then quickly cap it off to stop the flow. I've found that this way I can truly getting just 1 gram per dose, but still run out way early. It looks like I have half a tube left, then you hit the air gap and--poof--you're down to one or two more doses and have to scramble to get your insurance to pony up for another tube before it's due to be refilled. I'd like to see other people who've encountered this problem, posting it here. I'm also going to contact Wyeth directly. It may not get me anywhere, but if enough people complain, maybe they will address the problem. It's a good product, but too expensive to be shorted by so much each time.Read More Read Less

I have used the vaginal cream for many years and the last 2 years you cannot control the amount that comes out. It appears that there is an air pocket inserted in the middle of the tube pushing the cream out when opened. When you get past the air filler there is hardly any cream left in the tube. I suppose this is a way to save millions of $$ for the company. It was never this way in previous years and I find it very irritating to spend this much money for a deceptive air filled tube. When there are others complaining of this same situation the manufacture should take notice as too many complaints of the same problem screams there is something wrong!! I truly do not know what it will take for this company to cease this deception. I called the company about this and did receive a coupon, no addressing of the problem. I imagine this company knows that women need this prescription drug and have found a way to increase their profits with their method of filling the tube of cream with an air pocket.Read More Read Less

Gee whiz! Men get a little blue pill, paid for by insurance so they can "get it up," not a medical condition that needs fixing as far as many of us are concerned. We women who are in natural or surgical menopause have a real, medical condition that leads to complete or nearly complete loss of libido. What do we get? A dangerous cream that "fixes" us so that when the man finally gets it up, we won't be in agony. This is as fair and complete a picture of how far we women have come as any I can think of. You drug makers know darn good and well how to fix this. It's called a proper dose of the same blue pill the men take. An MD (woman OB/GYN) prescribed it in the early 80s and it worked like a charm!Read More Read Less

Life saving product! I'm still able to be sexually active thanks to this cream. I insert it twice a week, and it keeps my vaginal area moist and "ready" to go. No need for messy lubricants. It also has minimized the frequency of vaginal infections (yeast/bacterial) to which I was prone. Absolutely no negative side effects. However, I agree with another reviewer that it is expensive, as my insurance doesn't cover it. Maybe if more of us voice the benefits, especially to our partners, insurance companies would reconsider coverage.Read More Read Less

I am not 100% satisfied due to the constant pain and burning. The situation may be lessened due to the cream but due to the expense I have to ration it and may not be utilizing it to its full potential and the portion that does come out after inserting into the applicator I use on the outer part or my vagina. Would love to find a generic and more cost effective method.

After using three tubes of Premarin, I have switched back to Estrace. The tube continued to push out product after the applicator was filled and removed. Squeezing the sides of the tube did not help. After two-thirds to three-fourths of the content had been used, an air bubble escaped, and there was not problem with dispensing the rest -- although there was much less in the tube after the "burp" than I though there was. I did report the problem by phone twice and was not successful in communicating with anyone. Follow-up letters came, but the wording of them indicated they thought I was reporting something wrong with the cream itself, not just the packing of it. I'm glad for this opportunity to comment since a complaint to the manufacturer yielded no results.Read More Read Less
