In general, this was an easy to use and effective treatment. Although it goes in as a clear gel, I did notice some white cream-like residue when I wiped in the mornings and throughout the day following the bedtime treatment. Surprisingly, I did not experience a lot of moisture and drainage from the gel during the day, but I did wear a mini pad for general protection during the treatment.

I have been dealing with reaccurrant BV for over a decade. The BV starts after having a new sex partner or your partner being a lady. One thing I know for sure is the pills are better but taste terrible and takes your taste buds and flips them and thereâ??s a metallic after taste. The gel on the other hand is more irritating and completely wipes out good vaginal flora so your left with a nasty yea...

I was prescribed the gel for my bv and took it every night for 5 days. Afterwards I had a heavy white clumpy discharge but the bad smell from the bv was gone. I would take clumpy discharge over smelling like fish any day! but once I went back to having sex, I developed an intense yeast infection. worst itching and burning ever and I had to miss work because of it. I am treating the yeast infection with otc monistat suppositories. I am on day 2 of the treatment and noticed that the bv has come back and i smell like garbage once again. I just want to cry I have been having trouble with this for almost 1 year now and I don't know what to do anymore it is tearing apart my relationship and my sex life is long gone at only 20 years old. very dissatisfied with my experienceRead More Read Less

I used this for a yeast infection during my period, which turned into a horrifying mess with the gel. Won't go into detail about that, but it was the most disgusting thing I've ever experienced. Used it a second time on another occasion, and it was equally gross. The product burned, gave me insomnia, I woke several times with stabbing vulvar pains, and swelling. Will use a different product if there's a next time.

Was diagnosed with BV in 2011. NEVER had this disorder in my entire life. I was used to yeast infections, what woman isn't? My obgyn at the time informed me it was due to not having sex for a lengthy period of time and being menopausal (resisted the urge to be sexually active for 3 years after my divorce). I found the gel to be very effective. No side effects. I will highly recommend NOT using the oral tablets. OMG! I had headaches daily, a stiff neck, drowsiness, dizziness, upset stomach, a very dry mouth, diarrhea, and the pills are not coated and taste awful (you must take the pills with a full glass of water and I suggest WITH food).Read More Read Less

I have had BV for such a long time I can't remember not having the symptoms. Finally I sucked it up and went to the gyno for the first time. First I used the metro pills and after the usual yeast infection the BV came back. Then I used this gel for 5 days, and later the BV came back. Again I used a different pill and still it came back. I thought I was crazy and was making up my symptoms but my doctor tested me and well, it always came back as BV. My doctor and I discussed several possibilities of why it kept coming back but I had no clue. So now I am on the gel again with instructions to use it for five days then twice a week for 5 months! I am more than halfway through and things were looking promising. My biggest fear is that I went on vacation and of course forgot it at home so I skipped about two weeks mid way. Refilling the Rx, the directions say to take one applicator full at bedtime for a month. Fingers crossed. I do experience the clumpy discharge but no other symptoms. If anything this gel has made my period more regular. I guess I will update soon. Read More Read Less

My medical assistand prescribed this medication for me. My diagnosis was found through the papsmear. I did read the side effects on the medication but wish I was told about them previously. After 5 days on the medication I am not sure how I feel. Ive had headaches, cramps, and nausea. Also, now when try to hAve sex, I can feel I have a yeast infection. Im annoyed and wish my doctor would have given me advice and guided me through this process. Not a fan.

I had a hysterectomy on 3-4-15.. went for checkup on 3-22-15.. had BV.. dr prescribed gel.. took it everything was fine.. Then I noticed a slight discharge. I thought it was a yeast infection because antibiotics can give you one. went to dr on 4-14-15 low and behold BV again.. she said my Ph balance could be off because of surgery.. I'm on 4th dose of gel now.. Let's see what happens.. no side effects.. only when I urinate, some gel comes out. but nothing major. I chose the gel because the pills are disgusting. The metallic taste is 100% worse. But some say the pills work better because it goes through your whole body.. Last dose tomorrow.. Fingers crossed.. and please dont drink alcohol ladies.. it can make you sick Read More Read Less

Hated that I had the discharge with the product and it did cause my period to come earlier than expected. Also, after seeing my primary doctor (prev going to urgent care) it was determined that I kept getting it because my boyfriend was using a soap that was too strong for my body to handle. He has since changed to a mild soap and I have no recurrence of the issue. Girls, you might want to see if that is what is causing the issue. I would've kept taking medication for the issue if not seeing my primary doctor. Urgent care doctor just wanted to keep prescribing since I had issue previously.Read More Read Less

I had never heard of BV until 3 episodes of itching. I thought it was a Yeast Infection. No, it was BV, the itching was horrible. Currently using the gel, day five--minor itching, white discharge, no other symptoms.

After being diagnosed with BV my doctor asked if I wanted to use the gel or the pills. I chose the gel because it was a 5 day treatment over the 7 day treatment with the pills, and I just wanted to get through it as fast as possible. The only problem is that as others have written, the gel goes in as a gel, but comes out as a clumpy white discharge almost identical to yeast discharge. I called my doctor and she said yes this discharge was normal. Unfortunately, the discharge continues for days after the last dose. It is vary confusing, whether it is just the medication or if you now have a yeast infection. In the end with the extra discharge it really wasn't a shorter treatment. I have used the pills before with out any problems, so unless you get bad side effects from the pills, I would not go with the gel. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this gel twice a day for 14 days, it is the longest I have seen prescribed, but I trust my doctor. I did not notice any symptoms of BV except for minor odor occasionally. My pap smear is what identified the infection.I have only put in two treatments and after the second I noticed the discharge as most have described. I feel bloated and slightly fatigued.

Ive been suffering from BV since Ive gotten on birth control and my life has been miserable. My doctor finally prescribed me this gel to take for 5 days and I noticed after the first use I had a little white clumpy discharge. After the second use I did not notice anything. From the 3rd use and on the white clumpy discharge came back but it is very mild. Im confused as to whether this is a yeast infection or not but either way its frustrating and never ending.

I wanted to wait a full month before I reviewed this product, to make sure my period didn't cause my BV to return & to give an accurate review. During the course I had almost no symptoms other than lite cramping& the infamous discharge that didn't start tho until maybe the 4th day or so, AND IT LAST FOR ONLY 3-4 days after your done with the gel. I didn't get the yeast infection or irritation at all from this medicine. My only concern was that I started this gel on the day my period was SUPPOSE to begin (feb.10th) and I didn't get my period until March 3rd! I knew I wasn't pregnt but I didn't expect this to make my period start late! Also I'm a week off my period now and still no BV! I couldn't be more happy as I suffered In silence with bv for 2yrs before going to the doctor (embarrassed ) ...but this metro gel worked for me. Read More Read Less

The BV is usually caused by an imbalance of pH, I have been told. I used to get BV after every time I had sex with my boyfriend. Now, I use the metronidazole after we have sex and I have not had it for a year. I do get the white clumpy discharge, which appears about 24 hours after using the gel. I just use my finger to scoop it out and use a pure water douche to clean out the rest and have not had any problems.

The gel is extremely easy to use and while I have noticed a discharge, it was nothing alarming. I have, however, experienced the metallic taste in my mouth and EXTREME bloating and constipation while on this medication. I have had no other dietary/activity changes while on this medicine, so I assume it is due to the gel. Has anyone else had this reaction?

I have recently finished my 5 day gel treatment two nights ago. I still have to wait to make sure this fully cured me because you should wait 3 days for it to get out of your system. However, Ill share my experience. I did have cramping in my abdomen,as well as the chunk discharge. However, I was relieved when I saw the chunks, because I instantly thought this was the bad bacteria the medicine had absorbed. Regardless if that is true its how i felt. I had mild itching that would only last for about a minute at a time each night. It wasnt enough to stress over. Other than that so far I am pleased with the product. Im just hoping this wasnt just a temporary fix!!Read More Read Less

Main issue right now is that I can feel a ton of white clumpy waxy product way up by and around my cervix and can not remove it. It does not come out when I go to the bathroom or on pads it is like candle wax inside of me and is grossing me out. I called the doctor and they want me to come in tomorrow morning. First they told me to go to ER, but I thought that was overkill. I have used vaginal creams before, Will NEVER use this one again after reading these reviews. I have had back spasms & neck stiffness that is very scary. I have been ill with symptoms of body aches and general feelings of not being well but I did not relate it to this until I read all of the warnings from the manufacturer. I have itching everywhere and I did not have a yeast infection but am sure I do now. Read More Read Less
