I am very happy with this patch. I am a 54-year-old woman who has been in menopause since age 51. I have been using this for about one year now. Hot flashes and night sweats stopped completely. My sex drive is back, too. I had a bit of spotting earlier on but that is very rare now. For about four months now, I have been using three patches in three weeks and then I take a break for the fourt...

The medication works - however, not all the patches work. Out of 8 patches (2 month's supply) 4 patches were defective. a 50% hit ratio is somewhat ridiculous. I can now tell by feeling the patch whether the backing will peel off easily or not. Bayer - please fix this issue.

I an soooo glad to see these post...I thought I was the only idiot that couldn't get the backing off. Never had this problem with the plain Climara or Vivelle Dot patches.

The patch works great - no more debilitating hot flashes. But, I almost gave up on the medication because of the difficulty and frustration removing the plastic backing. I finally figured out how to get it off without ruining the patch. I take a paring knife and in the middle where the plastic backing is split, tease one side slowly off the adhesive until it is clear the backing will separate, but don't remove it yet. Then do the same thing on the other side. Once it is clear that both sides will come off easily, remove one side completely, stick it in place, then remove the other side. Make sure your skin is stretched out with no wrinkles where you apply it. Hold it in place for ten seconds. The warmth of your hand helps it to stick, especially at the edges. Being able to get the patch on properly has completely removed my frustration with the patch! When I was having trouble with the backing I couldn't find anything online to help, so I am posting this hoping it will help someone else.Read More Read Less

I have been using this patch for a year now. It does help me feel better, but it is ridiculously priced and extremely difficult to peel the backing off. If I had an alternative, I would NOT purchase it for the two reasons given. I have to purchase Tegaderm in additon to my patches to keep them in place for a week, otherwise, they DO NOT stick or stay. It is WRONG to charge so much ($200 for 4patches) for something made so cheaply that it cannot be used as intended without a lot of difficulty and extra purchases to make it function correctly. I see that I am not the only one with this problem... Bayer needs to listen to it's consumers on this and come up with a more user friendly design!!!Read More Read Less

STAY AWAY!!! Absolute worst. Find an alternative. Can't peel the backing off - when I see a patch in my box that is milky white, I know it's done. I'm sick and tired of paying $150 for 4 patches that are worthless. Offensive that my doc would push this inferior product.

WHen I first started using Climera it was a LARGE but clear patch (larger than the combi patch I had been using but was back-ordered.) Now they have chosen to put their branding ON the patch. Come ON Bayer...we are middle aged and attempting to have sex lives still. Having an advertisement on our lower abdomen is not at all sexy. What were you thinking? COuld you not have put your branding on the backing that we pull off? I have found a pharmacy that has been able to secure the combi patch for me and will be switching back. PS. In discussions with my peer group we are unanimously unhappy with the new "feature."Read More Read Less

I am 50 and my perimeno symptoms were gradual but noticeable. I started having hot flashes when I would have a glass of wine or alcohol. About 13 months ago I stopped having my period and all hell broke loose. Hot flashes were waking me up at night, mood swings, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, vaginal dryness and decreased libido. I was miserable and actually became depressed. Only up side was I lost about 25lbs. I saw a gyn who put me on low dose lexipro and I was using estroven tablets daily (nighttime). This calmed the symptoms but still difficult. Started climara pro, this is my fourth patch. Hot flashes quit within the first week. Patch caused me some irritation and itching at the site by the 3rd day and started to come up so I applied a tegaderm. Worked great! Second week, breast tenderness, cramping, bloating started not bad but I could tolerate my pms pretty well before. Patch started itching about the 3rd 4th day applied tegaderm from day one. Third week, more cramping, vaginal dryness gone, increased libido, mood swings stable, breast feeling fuller, feeling good about things. Less itching from patch only on occasion and no tegaderm. Fourth week, spotting for the whole week about 4lb wt gain. Hoping this goes away since now my libido is up. No itching and no tegaderm this week. I didn't have trouble keeping the patch on and I take hot baths frequently. I would wipe the area with an alcohol pad and let it dry prior to applying the patch and hold it for 30 seconds. Only concern these days is the spotting and having a slight headache. sleeping improved right away. I would say this worked for me although I wonder if a lower dose would be better for me. Hope this helps someone. Read More Read Less

I have used the Climara patch for 25 years. I have been very happy with it until this last batch. EVERY "clear" patch has printing on it indicating the I have been happy with Climara for 25 years until this last batch. They changed the "clear" benefit to put printing on every one indicating what it is and what the dosage is. It's unsightly and unacceptable now!

I'm 47 and having been using Climera for 3 mos to combat the misery of menopause: sweats, rapid heartbeat, no sleep, constant sadness, dryness and itchiness. All symptoms are gone. However, I've had 3 times of bleeding in 9 weeks which I don't enjoy as I cant predict it in advance like a normal period. The first 2 weeks I had trouble keeping it in place at my waistline. Now I apply it just next to my hipbone and it never comes off. No skin issues. I hope the bleeding lessens with time. With my co-pay it is very expensive but worth it to feel better.Read More Read Less

I am on the generic manufactured by 3M Drug Delivery Systems and distributed by Alvogen. I suffered premature ovarian failure and was prescribed this giant patch. It certainly makes me feel better emotionally and physically, but by no means does this thing stay on for a week. Also, it is hideous and gets black gunk stuck around the edges by the second day. My boyfriend has taken to asking me where I'm going to put it this week. The last time we had relations, he put his hand over it so he couldn't see it! I work out every day, do yoga, etc. Maybe if you sit around doing nothing and never have intercourse, this patch will work for you. I am going to have to try birth control pills. I wish they would make a patch you could change every day. At least that way it would be clean and would stay on for the necessary amount of time. There is nothing "convenient" about this gross, once weekly patch. Also, in terms of effectiveness, I wanted to see some reversal of what happened to my skin after losing all my estrogen, but I haven't seen any improvement in skin elasticity or collagen. Maybe that takes longer. The hot flashes are resolved though, and my mood is better. I could tell it was working right away.Read More Read Less

I started on this medication and was very hopeful but had a dull constant headache but decided I would stick with it thinking my body was having to adjust but the headache continued after two weeks use and also was having lots of abdominal issues, gas, belching. I found myself having to take lots of anti-gas products and Tylenol for the headache which didn't always help. I then started getting a sore throat without fever and my joints began hurting and finally felt like I had the flu, aching all over and just feeling blah. I did not have hot flashes but these side effects made me miserable. Read More Read Less

This patch does what it says. Hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and sleep issues are gone. It took about 2 weeks to "kick in." I use a Tegaderm pouch over the patch to make it stick for the full seven days.

I've been on this med since 1995. I got hot flashes every hour lasting 15 minutes. Yes, I'm 70 and still get them if I don't stay on this. My rx doesn't cover so I've tried pills. They work but make my legs swell. So I pay full price for the patch. Every once in awhile I do get a bad batch where the adhesive is bad. I call the mfg pharma and they replace. This patch is estrogens progesterone. Used if you have ovaries. If you have no ovaries this is not for you , you only need estrogen.

I am unable to truthfully rate how effective this product might be because it will not stay adhered to my skin. It's too expensive.

The meds works, but they do not stick. The patches are HUGE, and there is no where safe to put them on the body where they do not fold, get air pockets or peel off. Forget baths all together, even a shower makes them peel off and get water sogged. Suppose to stay on 7 days. Mine stayed on from 1-4 days. It was a constant struggle to get these things to stick. I'd go through a 4 week supply in two weeks, and they aren't cheap! Leaves sticky residue everywhere, and sometimes left my skin where the patch was rough and darker looking. My hips look like a battleground with rough, dark patched, and sticky black residue all over the size of 4 inches across! I switched brands. The new patch is a size of a quarter, and you change it every 4 days. So happy to switch!Read More Read Less

i have had little to no hot flashes, dryness or mental fuzziness since starting the patch I did have trouble with it irritating my skin when alternating sides where i was applying it to my abdomin, but since always putting it in the same spot it has not been a problem. I also switched to bar soap and found it sticks well now even with swimming anf bathing. i am having spotting the past few patches which is a new problem after a year of use.

It took me several years to get the attention I need for "Change of life". After a year of therapy I still was feeling over whelmed, depressed and not myself. I moved several time in 10 years being a Navy wife. I finally found a female Doc that I was able to talk to. I asked her if she could check my hormones, sure enough I needed this patch. What a difference, no more head aches, hot flashes, and I'm sleeping and not cranky. If your in the same boat, I suggest first and find a Doc you can talk to and one that will listen. I feel like Stella got her grove back. I use surgical tape to insure it will stay on. I will use this method for a few years, I do not plan on being on it for 15 years. Thank you Climara Pro!
