I have in the past dealt with nightmares from being shot, being knifed, being in a car bomb and being attacked on guard duty. I am being clinically followed at a VA hospital. This drug, at 1mg, has taken me from being a person that screams at night, waking up my wife, cold sweats and torrid sleep, to now having a peaceful night of sleep and wonderful dreams.

Has significantly decreased my nightmares, and also has lowered my blood pressure. I was skeptical a medication would work for nightmares... It lowers my blood pressure and blocks the adrenaline that increases P.T.S.D. related nightmares/night terrors.

I have been on this medication for about 2 months or so. I am up to 10 mgs. I suffer from PTSD & Bi-polar. It seems to be working for I haven't slept with a night lite on for awhile. BUT I have had some side effects. Headaches,a very low sex drive. Which is causing problems in my marriage. That is why I am thinking of talking to my Dr. and see if there is something else out there. But on the other hand I am not afraid to go asleep at night. So what should I do?

I was prescribed Prazosin 1 mg. a bedtime to calm my hyper-alert physiological state of arousal. It does seem to exert a physiologically calming influence along with my other meds and help me (usually) get a decent night's sleep. It makes me very drowsy, a desired effect.

I have been taking this medication for several years now for moderate to severe PTSD and I am very satisfied with the results. Went a week without it once and the nightmares returned.

Never again will I take this. First PILL 5Mg.Got up to go to the bathroom past out on hard wood floor, blocking door to my bedroom. This was worse than nightmares. Three day's later.I still feel like I was in a bad car wreak. My neck, my ribs shoulder's, I am in so much pain. This will take week's to get over.I was told drinking beer would be ok with taking it. Today I managed to put on my own sock's etc. I am glad I didn't break my neck!!I will stick with the bad dreams thank you.

I had a terrible rash occur after taking this medication, described by my dermatologist as a severe skin eruption all over my body. It lasted for about a week, and I will have scars from all the scratching I did while sleeping.

I have been taking Prazosin 2 mg for about 2 years now. My nightmares are gone and not had any bad side affects so far. I'm not much into medications but I have found this to do what it was suppose to do without any ill side affects. I only take it in the evening with my meal. The reviews with the pancreas problems has me concerned and would like to find information on this

OMG! yeah the nightmares and symtoms of PTST stopped for the most part, then i litarlly gained over 6 lbs of water weight. and when going off the damn stuff the symtoms( basically nightterrors and night mares, yeah, theres a difference) got extremely worse for a short time. A unusual side effect i also noticed was a condition known as "FORCED SPEECH" when trying to concentrate in a social setting or even on the phone i had the effect of confusion and, in basic term, talked a million miles an hours. Eventually this stopped, however i would not recommend this to someone who is also on psyciatric medication. BAD STUFF, putting it basically.Read More Read Less
