I was diagnosed with benign hand tremors by my neurologist. I was prescribed Primidone 50mg. This stuff is great, no more hand tremors and a return of strength to the effected hand. I was a little drowsy the first week of taking it, but when taken at bedtime, it can actually help you sleep. Now, I don't get the sleepy side effects, but my hand is tremor free. Even if I miss a dose, my hand im...

My daughter takes this drug for essential tremors. The tremors have helped minisculey but I don't like what it's doing to her face. She looks like a chipmunk. Her checks are so puffed out. I have to decide if the slight improvement is worth her looking like a freak

This medicine has worked well for me. I have gone to the pharmacy to get my refill. they say they are waiting for the manufacturer. I really hope I don't have to have my medicine changed because it took a long time to get where I am now

My tremors were so bad i could not hold a spoon eating soup. Could not bring the coffee pot to my cup to pour, with one hand. I now can hold the spoon and the coffee pot. Yes there is some shaking but it is much easier. I would say my improvement percentage wise has been 50%.

I suddenly started having tremors in my extremities, as well as sudden stuttering. This medication has stopped the worse tremors and has helped with the stuttering.

Have experienced uncontrollable left hand shaking for about 2 years. Began taking 1/2 of a 50 mg Primidone on a Sunday night. By Tuesday morning saw a definite difference. I have been able to hold a full milk jug with shaking and thread a sewing machine needle effortlessly. Very thankful!

I ended up having to take 500 mg. per day and experienced terrible itching. It took me 3 weeks to wean off this drug and now I have the bad tremors again. I am hoping to find something else to calm them.

I a a 63 year old male taking 50mg once a day at bedtime. My tremors had gotten distractingly annoying and noticeable by others. The treatment almost immediately stopped the tremors. For me the worst side effect has been dreaming/poor sleep. It seems like I dream all night. Meaningless disconnected dreams, waking up feeling unrested. There are other medications to treat the tremors. I will discuss with my doctor next visit.

Reason for taking Primidone was to try as an alternative treatment of hand tremors to Propranolol. I tried one 250 mg dose at 11pm (no alcohol or other drugs consumed) and was unable to function the next day. I felt doped out/stoned for 24 hours and slept for a long time. I did notice it was greatly dampening my hand tremors, though. In short, I was unable to tolerate the drug. Maybe we can try a greatly reduced prescription. When you try this drug for the first time, don't have anything critical you must take care of the next day or two just in case your reaction is adverse, as mine was.Read More Read Less

I took the pill for 8 days and what I found maybe because it doesn't work well with the other meds I'm taking. I found myself extremely tired my vision was blurred and I just found myself lost.If this is what I have to do to stop the tremmers then I will not take it.

I have only taken Primidone for 5 days and my tremors which I have had for many years have stopped. However, side effects are severe fatigue, eyesight blurred, imbalance and unusual dreams. I started by taking 100mg twice a day.I have reduced to 50 mg twice daily and will continue for a few more days to see if side effects reduce.

I had no side effects. After taking just two pills I noticed a difference and within a week I was able to thread a needle. Amazing!

Started at 25 mg 6 mos ago, now up to 250 mg for past month - No improvement in essential tremor, doc says I need at least 500 mg. Cannot tolerate the 250. Dizzy, irregular eye movements, sleepy all the time. Now need to wean myself off, don't know how long it will take.
