I was diagnosed with benign hand tremors by my neurologist. I was prescribed Primidone 50mg. This stuff is great, no more hand tremors and a return of strength to the effected hand. I was a little drowsy the first week of taking it, but when taken at bedtime, it can actually help you sleep. Now, I don't get the sleepy side effects, but my hand is tremor free. Even if I miss a dose, my hand im...

My daughter takes this drug for essential tremors. The tremors have helped minisculey but I don't like what it's doing to her face. She looks like a chipmunk. Her checks are so puffed out. I have to decide if the slight improvement is worth her looking like a freak

I take 200mg twice a day. I am able to type and write, however I am using a spoon more often for eating. I still have tremors but they aren't debilitating. I have had no side effects. My doctor would like to add a blood pressure medication but my blood pressure is too low for it to be safe.

I inherited ET from my dad. As a teacher, shaking was annoying. My doctor was hesitant to prescribe a beta-blocker, but wanted me to try primidone. It reduced my tremor activity, but the side effects really were too much. I had the same results in tremors if not better just by staying hydrated, maintaining appropriate sugar levels by not consuming soda, and no more caffeine. I still have some shaking, but no side effects.

I have had essential tremors for years in both hands and head (aka Katherine Hepburn.) Started out on 50 mg primidoe 4 x day and am now on 250 mg 3 x day. I experienced itching, which I attributed to menopause, now I Know better. The higher dose still hasn't helped my shaking head. Just makes me sleepy. Went out the other night with my husband for dinner and he thought I od'd on my meds. I was slurring my speech and started falling asleep before the first course arrived. I'm back to 100 mg 4 x day. I'm afraid the electrodes are my final resort. Read More Read Less

I saw the benefits of this medicine in little as 3 days. My tremors are under control and now I can write and eat without any tremors. I have developed a rash on my chest but not sure if it is related to the drug or not. Need to see doctor to be sure. Would recommend Primidone to friend or family member with the same problems.

I have been taking 50mg for 2 months then increased to 100mg for the last 2 months. I have no relief, if anything my tremor has increased, right hand ONLY has a tremor. My side effects includes a low libido and sleep 9 hours a day. Still, I had hoped for better results.
