I have taken 225mg of this drug 3 times a day for 4 years. It has worked very well and although expensive is still much cheaper than Rythmol. The only side effect I noticed was constipation.

I have about five or six seriously rotten days a month. Nausea, dizzy, unbalanced, fatigued, confused Any advice? Oldie

I had 2 bouts of AF 6mos. apart and was then placed on 150 mg.of Propafenone Q8hrs. Have been AF free for 13 mos. The first 3 mos. on the med were rough with waking up in the night and having dry mouth. Only real side effect I have had with the med.

I take 3 tablets of 150mg. if I'm in atrial fib. My symptoms usually are slow irreguler pulse. This has been documented by EKG. On occasion it will be a rapid "not able to count" pulse. I convert to a normal rhythm in any where from 1 to 2 hours. I have a problem with A fib about every 4-6 months. Prior to using this medication , I had been cadio verted twice 6 months apart. I convert at a very low voltage but of course, I would rather take propafenone.

The only thing I don't like is having to take it 3 times a day. I often forget the afternoon dose when busy. Rythmol is the answer but too expensive-this drug however, is NOT cheap either.

I have been taking this drug 2x's a day (150mg) for two years since a singular AF occurance sent me to the emergency room for conversion. I am scared to take it, and scared NOT to take it. At first, the cardio put me on Rythmol, which costs over 700$! After research, I found that propafenone was the generic and costs only $50 for a 90 day supply. So, I asked him to prescribe it for me, so I take it 2 times daily, with an "open direction" to take it more "if needed." The only side effect that I've had is that it CAUSES an irregular heartbeat for about an hour after I take it. That SCARES me, in that in the warnings, it states that this can be fatal. I have pvc's daily, and he has suggestion ablation therapy, but I'm also not convinced that I need to do that, either. I do NOT take coumadin. I have had no other AF incidences, but I wonder if there is another anti-arrythmic drug that would make me have more peace of mind. This one seems very drastic to me, and although I take it daily, I am thinking of finding another cardiologist who will re-consider a treatment for me.Read More Read Less
