I had a bad case of bronchitis and was on antibiotics and steriod inhalers. I got a bad case of thrush all over my tongue, mouth, throat and it was on my vocal cords...the ENT gave me DIFULUCAN for 5 days and 14 days of the Nistatin. It cleared it up. ALSO a really good tip that my old ENT gave me as I had this once before from a steroid inhaler...HE TOLD me to mix 50/50 of the mouthwash CEPACO...
This medicine made my daughter's stomach hurt really bad and the taste and texture was horrible. She got it from dental work, or birth control pills. Taking other med with it and she had to stop and now it seems it is spreading even more. There has to be some kind of other solution to this horrible smelling, and tasting medicine. It may work for some but not for her! Gross!

I am using this drug for thrush. The pain I had in my tongue went away after one use. I am three days into using it and it is helping already, even though I haven't used it four times a day yet. I have an allergy to one of the inactive ingredients, so I am using this drug cautiously. I have been instructed to swish and spit because of my allergy. I am concerned if the infection spread to my throat, esophagus or stomach, it will not be treated. We will see. I do have to comment on the actual liquid itself. Although it does not taste as bad as I thought it would, the color and consistency is just nasty. Does it remind anyone else of phlegm? ICK!Read More Read Less

With being an asthmatic I have found that when my asthma flairs up and the usuage of more inhalers are being used that I get thrush. It does seem to work but I'm now thinking that my body would require longer than a week on this in order to kill off all of the Thrush that has gotten down into my throat and stomach. I now keep refills on my prescription instead of always having to go to my PCP everytime I get Thrush, it makes my tongue feel sore throat raw, taste buds are gone.

The medication has not helped 100%, but it has greatly improved the thrush condition considerably... Keep the med in your mouth at least 20 to 30 seconds & swish around as much as possible then swallow...

My 6 month old son has been taking it for 6 days but still no results!! He's not fussy and he is feeding well but the patches haven't decreased. They actually seem like they're spreading. I'm sanatizing everything and following the RX instructions. I know it can take a while to go away but I don't want it getting worse while he's taking the med.!

My son (9 mths) has been on Nystatin for 2 weeks and can not seem to shake this Thrush. It was not very effective with us...we had to switch to Diflucan and there's a world of difference. We are feeling much better.

After months of diarrhea, when nothing else would work, Nystatin stopped it within 2 days. It was such a relief to me.

I have had issues with candida in the digestive track for years (including horrible smelling gas). When I began allergy treatments several years ago I went on it for 6+ months to help get my digestive tract back in line. When I take antibiotics I insist on taking oral Nystatin tablets (to eliminate the stinky gas). I wish I could get an unlimited Rx of tablets or powder to use as needed! Or at least get a Rx for 100 tablets at a time to use as needed. It is easier to get pain killers than oral Nystatin tablets - which doesn't make sense to me! Is there an OTC that will do the same thing but not cost a fortune?Read More Read Less

I felt relief within the first day or so. It was easy to use, and my condition returned to normal after about 5 days.

My Dr. prescribed this for a suspected yeast infection in my sinuses. Although the taste is nasty, I could 'feel' a change in my sinuses after the second dose. I'm not sure how long I will be on it, but I have experienced gas, bloating and heartburn. These are a welcomed trade off if it gets rid of the chronic sinus infection.

After four days use, my mouth is still quite raw and I haven't truly seen much relief. I am taking as prescribed.

Can you tell me what is in Nystatin that allows it to work so quickly. I took one dose after three days of suffering with my mouth and I was able to drink for the first time about 10 minutes later without much pain. I just would like to know what ingredients it has.

was on this medicine for quite a few months, probably 4 mos. or more off and on. the problem just didn't seem to go away. i am curious if others after finishing nystatin had still any white coating or spots on tongue still. also i would like to know if others still had no taste buds, limited taste buds, DRY MOUTH, tingling on tongue, and/or any other issues while taking it or even when finished with it. first ear/nose/throat doc. went to said it could take months to get taste buds back and tongue feel normal again. i am getting a 2nd opinion in a few weeks as my tongue still does not feel right and my normal doc. wants me to go to a 2nd ear/nose/throat doc. the dosing directions were very confusing, so maybe i didn't always do it correctly. first time and first bottle just swish and spit, a larger bottle later, after first one didn't work, directions to swish and also swallow. yuk. it would have been worth it if it had been successful but i feel it was not. pls. others share your thought and opinions on how your mouth/tongue felt/feels now that you are finished and any other particulars.Read More Read Less
