I have been taking Dexedrine Spansules for over ten years along with Prozac and Wellbutrin to treat chronic depression and adult Attention Deficit Disorder. That combination has worked very well for me. On two occasions my psychiatrist and I have tried taking the Dexedrine out of the mix, and both times we have seen my ADD symptoms reappear within a week and my depression worsen after about three ...

This drug seriously damaged my body. This drug completely turned me against all pharmaceuticals. I will never use another unnatural molecule into my body ever again. By simply eliminating the causes of my ADHD such as monosodium glutamate and other toxic substances in my diet I became extremely calm and focussed.

I am 25, and my 4 year old son and I have ADHD, we are both on Dexedrine, and its a miracle! I love it, my son is the little boy i knew i always had but was never able to "see" and i was on Strattera at first with no result other than bad side effects. This has been helping me with my job and also helped my little man excel in school, and not have outburst and break things anymore :)

I'm 53 years old and have suffered with depression as long as I can rember. I have tried a very long list of antidepressants, and none have worked. I have tried all the non medication remedies but mercury posioning testing and nothing has worked. When I was younger I would be able to bonce back from a depressive episode, now I'm lucky that I have a good day. Out of total frustration I followed up on an article on the use of amphetamines for depression. I have been taking 10 mg dexedrine day for over 2 years, it has helped a little with the base line depression, it also has help with some of the majior symptoms with very little side effects. Myself and my doctor was conerned that this medication would worsen my acute anxiety and agitation, just the oppsite happened. I haven't taken any antianxiety medication in 2 yeas and my agitation has all but disappeared. Is this a perfect sollution no but it's helped meRead More Read Less

I've been on various ADHD meds for the majority of my life. Ages 6-29 to be exact. This works very effectively in controling my hyperactivity. Off meds, I'm prone to outburst, constant moving and talking, being disruptive and seeking attention, and it's hard to sit still or stay on task. I get bored very easily as well. While I'm medicated, I am completely the opposite. I work in customer service and this really helps my performance at my job. I can stay on task for long periods of time, I'm quiet and gathered in my thoughts. I am able to focus and concentrate with ease. I have had great results with this medication.Read More Read Less

I am 25 with ADD. I was tested for it my Kindergarden year and tested for a Learning Disablity too. I tried Ritalin but it made me really sick to my stomach. But my dad takes Ritalin for Narcolepsy and it works great for him but not for me. I started taking Dexedrin in 5th grade. It helped me out so much all through school. It was sad on the days I forgot to take it my teachers, my parents and my friends could tell I didnt take it. Now my husband can tell. If I dont take it, it is really hard for me to do day to day chores including taking care of my kids and I could sleep all day and all night. I did stop taking it when I was pregnant. But I do believe this medication works Wonderful!!Read More Read Less

I have taken this med since i was 7. I'm now 24. I have fully stopped taking it twice and have had problems focusing and thinking. i have taken radilin and adderal and both have caused extreme hyperaggression. I also have a high family history of addicted to alcohol and drugs. But I have never had an addiction to this med and the reason why i feel a need to take this mad is so i can succeed in life complete school and provide for my family and myself. I don't think that without the med i could have accomplished what i have and what i will in this life with out it.Read More Read Less

I have depression (inherited, usually a very content person) and one facet is hypersomnia. After several years on an anti-depressant (Paxil), which has worked to relieve the emotional distress, I was sleeping 16 hours a day with a constant bone-tiredness. After starting on the Dexedrine 3 months ago, I have my life back. I'm finally back to work, and it has made the difference between wanting to get things done and actually getting things done. I mean dishes, laundry, neatening up, etc. (which I used to love to be on top of) more than once per month or so, when all the planets align just right to produce a potent enough mix of guilt and energy. I have no desire to increase my dosage of 10mg CR, plus 5mg midday. I finally have the footing to self-improve from here. I don't know what my psychiatrist's long term plan is, and I know long term use is not advocated, but at least I know I finally have a starting point from which to make progress, instead of sliding slowly further into depression. I can see how Dexedrine could be detrimental to (and abused by) addictive personalities, but for those of us who are old enough to know we are not, it is a great help.Read More Read Less

Finally, after Concerta, which did do the trick for nearly a year, until I maxed out on it, then I explained to my doc that I had had "dextroamphetamine", she thought I was asking for Adderall. Apparently that is a very popular drug. Before I took any, I read up on it and found that depressed people ought not take it, it depended. Well, I was one of them. I did not get depressed, but my brain was running, and I slept and ate and layed on my butt. I am treating for Chronic Pain from RA, Fibro, Hep C and Scoliosis. What a lifesaver the methadone was. Then after about two years, the falling asleep at any given moment, burning things up was bad. Plus, I have had ADD all my life. If someone is talking, my brain will follow them, no matter what I am attempting. I would find myself typing the words being said at work. Plus, I have got to have earplugs if I am to read or sleep. Anyhow, this drug is the one for me. I take 60mgs of the spansules in the am. I am free of anxiety, because I am thinking more clearly and able to act normally and make proper decisions and have a better outlook on life. Thank God.Read More Read Less

Alot better then Straterra. Really helps with concentration and impulsivity. Although I find that you REALLY have to limit your cafine intake as it will cause the most SEVERE headaches you can every imangine. I also find a HUGE difference when I skip a day; I have no motivation and feel very tired and lazy.

I was taking Adderall XR 30 mg. which cost $4.50/day for 5 years. It tends to wear off after 3 PM. Switched to dexedrine Spansules, take 15 mg. when I awake, 15 mg. 3 hours later. Better than Adderal XR by far and its 22 cents/pill x 2= 44 cents/day
