i was taking 600mg per day along with the PegIntron shots. after 4 months i began breaking out with a rash on upper arms, tops of legs lower stomach and buttocks(?). I was itching and scratching so bad i was causing sores and scabs. My doctor stopped both medications (due to my 1st 3mon test did not show good scores). He said he felt the rash is related to perhaps the Ribavirin/Ribashere. I wi...

I am only not quite 3 weeks into my 12 week treatment, my hemoglobin just dropped from 13 to 11.5, so I imagine it's kicking my fanny. However, my ALT and AST dropped considerably (in half!) Just during this short time. I don't know if I will be able to take the entire 12 weeks, I hope so. I feel fatigued, as I was told I would, but I had never been REALLY FATIGUED before, I feel like I have to remind myself to breath...so so exhausted.

I started taking 1200mg a day in combination with the 400 mg Sovaldi. They dopped me to 1000 mg ribivirin almost immediately. But My virus count dropped to zero in less than two weeks and my liver enzymes are back to normal (my liver is extremely cirrhotic) There are side effects that are somewhat unpleasant but the alternative for me is death.

No reviewer bothers to mention this drug is not taken ALONE, but with the very powerful interferon. The side effects are so different for everyone and who knows from which drug they come...users cannot even agree. The INF dehydrates one causing all kinds of problems with itching, dry skin/eyes/mouth, etc. Drinking mega amounts of fluids is the best key to avert side effects with the dual therapy. Ribavirin is used to boost the effectiveness (cure rate)of the INF to rid one of HCV....how can anyone complain that FINALLY there is successful treatments for HCV even if there are side effects? HCV has surpassed HIV in deaths...use this or face a liver transplant. Even then, your the HCV in your body will destroy the new liver. If you have HCV, get down on your knees and thank whatever higher power you choose that this is available!Read More Read Less

I started out on Ribavarin. Took that for 3 months and then my doctor switched me over to Ribasphere. Have had to have 3 blood transfusions. Caused from anemia but i am really satisfied with my treatment over all it does work. The side effects are sometimes extreme.
