After 4 years (and several other medications) of only averaging 2-3 hours sleep every 2-3 days (Obviously omitting periods of extreme fatigue hospitaliztions when drug induced sleep was used). My Dr. told me to try the 3mg version of Lunesta. From the first day and for almost 3 months now I have averaged 7-9 hours sleep every day feeling totally refreshed and rested and with 10 times the energy I ...

I HATE LUNESTA. I took the medication one night and i withdrawled. It made me feel so depressed and down i cannot explain. And that taste in my mouth felt like whatever i drank or ate has chemicals in it. I absolutely have nothing to say about this. It made my body feel tired but not my mind. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING THIS EVER.

I was prescribed Lunesta after boughts of insomnia for the past 3 years. In originally was on Trazodone with gave me a hangover effect after I was prescribed a SSRI for bipolar disorder. Lunesta had absolutely no effect on me. I was prescribed the 2mg dose. I had to quit taking it because there wasnâ??t any effect on my insomnia. It may work for most people, but not for me.

Lunesta is great for helping me fall asleep but I wake up every night between 1-2 am after taking it between 8'9 am. I cannot get a full 7-8 hrs of sleep. I do have the bad taste in my mouth, but a mint does the trick.

It doesn’t help me sleep and I can’t get past the taste of what poison must taste like days after taking it. I’m a water fanatic and I can’t drink any for at least two days! Nope, not for me.

Well so far I haven't had any adverse side effects but i have only been taking it for a very very short time. Ambien worked great but I was told its not a long term drug so my Dr tried giving me Belsomra which the insurance company denied, due to cost i assume. They approved the generic lunesta but this also seems to say that its a short term fix, just like the ambien so maybe i will just go back to the ambien if this doesn't work any better then that did.

I had a terrible reaction to this drug. It put me to sleep about 6 hours each night, but the side effects were too dangerous. It stopped my digestive system -- severe indigestion, no appetite, constipation, nausea, and a constant nagging feeling that my body was afraid of food. I had brain fog, forgetfulness, I started to miss my turns while driving, and then I had disturbing mental images. It filled me with a sense of dread and fear that I didn't have before. Oh, and I also got an infected skin rash for the first time in my life. After a week or so, my body went into adrenaline mode to stay alive. I had rapid pulse, shakiness, cold sweats, etc. All of this cost me one ER visit and four urgent care trips, within three weeks of starting the drug. I told every doctor I was on Lunesta, but no one seemed to think it mattered. They all told me to drink more fluids, eat more fiber, blah blah. I'd already been doing that!! I finally decided to stop the Lunesta, and I started to feel better right away. If you take this drug and you get any strange new problems, listen to your body. At first it worked great, I started having really bad anxiety dreams I would wake up in a cold sweat soaking wet. I also would experience numbness in my hands while laying down. The bad dreams cold sweats and numbness have seized since I haven't taken the medication for 3 day to a week now.

It doesn't work consistently for me. After taking it, I still wake often during the night and have extremely vivid dreams. I take it sometimes with my usual Klonopin and don't think my sleep is any better on the nights I add in the Lunesta. I take 3 mg but have taken 6 mg before, which has been more effective but not recommended.

The generic for Lunesta works great for me if I have an empty stomach. If I have eaten dairy, I need to wait 4-6 hours before it will be effective. I need to wait at least 3 hours after eating anything of much substance in order for it to work. I can eat fruit and veggies within 3 hours of bedtime, and it will work. It makes me feel relaxed and a tiny bit sleepy. It's not as strong as drugs like Ambien that really knock you out. It lets me sleep all night. If I wake up feeling anxious about something and can't go back to sleep, I can take another dose to put me back to sleep, as long as I have at least 2 hours before I have to get up. Lunesta had absolutely no effect on me. A sugar pill would have done more to me.

Lunesta has been the only sleep aid that's worked for me for 8+ years. Ambien gave me heart palpitations & other drugs like Resoril would put me to sleep but I'd still wake up after a few hours & be wide awake. Even before Lunesta had a generic come out, the cost was worth it to me - no way to work full time (40-60 hrs per week) on little to no sleep! I have the after taste, too, but have found brushing my tongue as well as my teeth just after taking the pill greatly reduces it. I also use Biotene mouthwash, which has a very pleasant taste & seems to help counteract the weird taste the pill causes. Best sleep of my life these past nearly 10 years!Read More Read Less
