Have taken on and off for insomnia over the last 5 years. As with most hypnotics it loses most of its effectiveness with daily use over a few weeks. Now I only use a couple of days a week and its works well 90% of the time. Minor side effects are a metallic taste and amnesia. DO NOT mix with alcohol unless you want to make a total

I began taking Lunesta 3 or 4 months ago. For me, it has made falling asleep and staying asleep entirely possible and as long as I got 8 hours of sleep, I felt well-rested in the morning. I have been on this medication for the last 4 years. I have been on several of these types of medications and none worked as well as this one has. I still have issues but never have paid much attention to the taste. I have to take it 90 minutes to 2 hours before I want to sleep. Most nights it works but once or twice a month does not seem to work as well.
