I have been taking Zantac 150 for a couple of weeks, and it is very effective. I had been taking prescription medication for acid reflux, but was concerned about recent FDA annoucements that those are bad for your bones if taken too long. So, my doctor suggested that I try Zantac instead. I take it 30 minutes before my morning coffee, and 30 minutes before dinner at night. I am pleased with ...

I was diagnosed with GERD a year ago. Nexium 40mg worked fine for me but I chose to stop taking it when news came out about that class of drugs affecting the bones * I have borderline osteoporosis. Zantac 150 works ok for awhile, then one day I get a severe headache, stomach ache, nausea that last for entire day SO I skip taking Zantac the next 2 days but start again the day after. I also still ...

2nd stage of treatment for H. Pylori as I could not tolerate the prescription medication. I take 150 mg every 12 hours.

I had espohagus erosion and was on Nexium. Once that was healed I could not go without antiacids. I took Prilosec and it also worked well. Concern over the bone problems and immune system interactions made me go off that and try Zantac as a step down. It worked well, is constipating but less than the other 2 were. I am now in process of discontinuning its use. Drinking lots of water and think I will be able to stop taking any antiacids.

I also still lose my voice by the end of the day. I HAVE NO CHOICE. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE I CAN TAKE OTHER THEN TUMS. All meds have side effects. When I take nothing I get a painful sore throat that also affects my eustachian tubes and lose my voice. I don't get heartburn. I'm not happy having GERD.Read More Read Less
