I have recurrent sinus infections/problems, and my ENT recommended this drug for me. It breaks up phlegm, clears my sinuses, and helps me to breathe more freely through my nose. I highly recommend it.

This medicine has caused me alot of grief. I highly suggest to read all of the reviews and all of the information on this product before taking it. I failed to do that and I blacked out while driving and wrecked my car. You always hear how good Mucinex is but I can promise you that I will never take it again. I have had a chest x-ray, cat scan and lots of blood work and everything was good. ...

I am not one to take pills,,but after a few weeks of suffering with nasal stuffiness, ears being plugged up, and headaches,,,I finally decided to do something. I purchased this product, took one about 2 pm (didn't taste so great) and within 1/2 hour, I could breathe. I took another at about 9 pm,,,,only side effect was, I didn't sleep very well. But am feeling better today and won't take another one unless I really have to.

Took this medicine was recomended by my Dr. because my sinuses, nose & ear passages were swollen. I took as directed for one day. I could not sleep that night & the next day my face was flushed & I felt "sped up". It did dry out my sinuses but took 24hrs to get rid of the symptoms. I won't be taking again.

I've had frequent headaches for years that don't respond well to pain medication. When I realized the headaches were from allergy related congestion, I tried Mucinex D. Finally, I have found something that helps. I really have not noticed any side effects from Mucinex D (like I had with other allergy meds). Mucinex D clears the congestion and pressure. If an allergy headache persists or get too bad, I also take a generic version of Excedrin Migrain which works great. With these two meds, my headaches don't keep me down any more. I have seasonal allergies and this drug works really well for me. My children and husband have trouble taking this drug. It does raise your blood pressure.

Mucinex works by making your mucous easier to expel. I found that it is VERY EASY to become dehydrated while taking this. MY ADVICE IS KEEP WATER WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES!

I was prescribed Mucinex D by my Dr. after diagnosing me with a sinus infection. I cannot say after the first day I didn't feel better. I did somewhat but definitely felt overly alert. When diagnosed, I was experiencing more of sinus pain then congestion however. By day 2 of this I started to feel very jittery after a few hours of taking it and now day 3 I have the WORST headache as if my head is about to explode, my throat hurts, I'm nauseous, my face feels hot under my skin (this I felt last night too after taking it) and I had somewhat of an anxiety attack earlier and rather breathed my way out of it. It's been 7 hours since I took it and I still don't feel well. I just tried to nap but my heart was pounding. I guess we all react differently but just to know that someone can react this way scares the crap out of me. I will never ever take this again. I usually go the homeopathic route and plan to continue to do so after this experience. I did a little research on this drug and these symptoms are so common, I don't know how it can be sold as safe, I'm done!Read More Read Less

On my doctor's advice, I took this to treat cold/congestion symptoms that plain guaifenesen didn't handle. It worked wonders - within an hour I could breath and sleep. BUT - even though I took it with food and a full glass of water, I was incapacitated the next day with diarrhea. Needless to say, I won't be using it again.

My doctor told me to take Mucinex D. Worked great for the first 2 days. Only problem I had was not getting moe than 3 hours of sleep. Then on the 3rd day my nose started bleeding. I stop taking the pill, and my nose bleed stopped.

My son, who is a healthy 16 year old male took Mucinex D as suggested by his Dr. The following morning he had a seizure while showering for school. First time and last time he had ever taken it. After 2 CAT Scans, an EKG, EEG and a MRI...all tests, including blood work are fine. His Dr. honestly thinks it was caused from the Psuedepherine in the Mucinex. The Neurologist doesn't agree. Also, My husband was telling a co-worker about my son having the seizure and after he mentioned my son taking the Mucinex, the co-worker immediately stated that his healthy 14 year old daughter had also had a seizure the day after taking Mucinex DM. I'm guessing I'm pretty sensitive to this drug. I had a slight increase in blood pressure, excessive sweating and cold hands and feet. I felt sick all morning about an hour after taking it. My heart rate was also rapid and I felt shaky. It did help loosen the mucus in my chest- but the side effects (I assume that's what was going on) were a little rough.

I went to an urgent care after a week of various cold symptoms and the doctor advised me to take this. It immediately made the phlegm in my throat thinner and easier to get out as well as eased the congestion in my nose and sinus. HOWEVER, on the second day of taking it I experienced extreme coughing bouts all day. It is now the third day and my throat is raw from coughing from this constant tickly in my throat and it wont go away. I am going to stop taking it now.

I have suffered from annual sinus infections over the years and this is the only product that has both relieved my sinus congestion and, in my opinion, prevented sinus infection. No other OTC products seem to work for me like Mucinex D. As a result of my positive experiences I have recommended it to friends and family. I have suffered no side effects and can recommend this product without reservation.
