I was prescribed this after a miserable 7 months with what was eventually diagnosed as IBS. I had a CT scan, numerous doctors appointments, etc., for lower-left abdominal pain that would last all day, every day. It was pretty much all I thought about all day for those months. I was finally referred to a GI who prescribed this medication, and within days of taking this medication twice a day as ...

Prescribed approx. 2 months ago for irritable bowel syndrome. Helpful in reducing cramping and pain. I have experienced some blurred vision and dry mouth but not terrible.

This medication works well at keeping my symptoms at bay most of the time. I take .125 mg tablets, and the prescription is written for 3 times a day, but I only take one tablet in the morning with my breakfast. I tried to quit taking them a couple of months ago, just to see if I REALLY needed them, and what a mistake that was. After about a week of not taking them, I had a full blown attack, which lasted about a month before I could get my symptoms under control again. One pill a day prevents most of the discomfort for me. It is worth noting, however, that I don't have constipation or diarrhea with my IBS, just severe cramping.Read More Read Less

The first few times I took this medication to stop diarrhea, it worked but went too far and caused constipation. It worked after this for a few weeks in controlling spastic colon and anal spasms but now it is ineffective and does nothing for the symptoms it was to control and I am back at square one. I have never received an actual diagnosis from general practitioner and GI specialist but I am assuming it is IBS(D) although I am more convinced it is Chron's. It is back to both physicians for me in the hopes of getting this under control because noone can LIVE like this!Read More Read Less

Doc gave me this for stomach and intestinal pain caused by excessive gas build up. It's been 3 days now, taking 4 pills a day, and the pain has "somewhat" diminished.

Constant nauseus feeling in the stomach. Hyoscyamine 0.125 MG before meals 3X / day resolved the issue.

I ended up in the ER with a kidney stone, pain in my stomach and back so bad I couldn't stand up straight. Finally found a Dr. after given the wrong meds and she prescribed this. I had severe gastric and intestinal pain right before my period that was so bad I would hyperventilate. I also was told I had arthritis in my vertebrae in my spine after an MRI. From the 1st pill I could have cried form relief. I was diagnosed 23 years ago with fibromylagia from back pain, trouble sleeping, and severe stomach issues. This, to me, "cured" my "fibro'. I stopped taking it after 6 months due to chest pain and faintness, but am not sure if it was related to the drug. I had dry eyes as well and dry mouth, but increase of water and decrease of caffeine helped that. I would recommend this to anyone who has suffered intestinal pain and period pain with related intestinal distress as well as kidney stones. I went from barely being able to eat to eating better and regaining my health back after over 20 years of suffering! A miracle drug for me, for sure!Read More Read Less

Immediately I noticed the nausea I had disappeared. I have had a decrease in appetite...there are days I don't eat (not good when your metabolism is low already!) The bad thing is, when my dr increased my meds from 1 tab 2x a day to 2 tabs AM and 1 tab at night, my eyes started getting fuzzy...then the next week...dosage changed to 2 tabs 2x a day...I wore my "cheater" glasses almost constantly!! I also became constipated. So, i'm on 2 and 1, and it seems to be a happy medium.

I first came across this when I was 12 years old and diagnosed with IBS; it helped immensely then. After staying on it for a few years, my IBS dissipated and I was off it for years. I've recently been having more severe pain than I have ever had before. The hyoscyamine, if I take it twice a day, makes some of my attacks bearable so that I can push through the work day... but there's still an awful amount of pain and the side effects -migraines, drymouth, fatigue, weird bladder things- stink. If I miss even one dose, the attacks are debilitating. Honestly, lifestyle changes (cutting sugar, meditating, exercising) help more than the drug.Read More Read Less
