I have a hiatal hernia which lead to esophagitis. I seemed to have a remission for about a year when I started drinking aloe vera juice (look in this, it helps acid reflux) but I have a bit of a return of my acid symptoms so I'm back on this medicine which has worked pretty well in the past. Chest bloating, mild chest pain. A little tip to save money, get the cheaper pill form and a pill crushe...

After taking this medicine for a week, I started having constipation despite Miralax every night, high fiber diet + 8 glasses of water/day. Finally had to quit b/c it "paralyzed" my colon and I was unable to have a bm. It took 3 days of Milk of Magnesia and another week before I was able to go - then developed crampy diarrhea. I will NEVER use Carafate again!!!!

I was diagnosed with gastris, esophogitis and a hiatal hernia. I was prescribed this medication and have been taking it for 3 weeks and I feel so much better. No more feeling like my food is getting stuck in my chest or nausea/gas. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

My one year old son swallowed a battery which lodged in his throat. It took the doctor two hours to get it out and she was worried about inflammation and damage to his throat. So she prescribed two weeks of this drug. It seems to make him dizzy and lose his appetetite, however, so we reduceds his dosage (to 1 or 2 times a day instead of four). Not sure what to do now.

I took one does of this medicine for what my doctor thought was an ulcer. I immediately reacted to it, with nausea and facial numbness. This medicine made my ulcer burn/hurt worse for the first hour. I will never take this again!

I have choking symptoms due to acid reflux it can get pretty bad and I use this drug to calm my esophagus and the choking goes away in 10 to 15 minutes. I have been on this since 2003. Recently my daughter started to take this drug for her reflux disease. She found relief within days. I use liquid for rapid results and she uses the pill form for her symptoms.

Dr. prescribed this in a slurry to be applied to our baby's sore bottom. Her sores would not heal but once we applied this stuff it cleared in 2 days after having tried for 2 months every butt cream on the market!

After being in severe pain with vomiting for over three months I was finally diagnosed with an ulcer. I found out it was a common occurance with Gastric Bypass but mine had been 3 years earlier and this ulcer was a good size. The doctor decided to try carafax and after two weeks of taking it faithfully I began to notice a difference. Following a diet and taking the medication as directed my pain has decreased as has the vomiting. I'm only three weeks into treatment but so far so good.
