I took Movieprep for my colonoscopy prep. I'm a 51 yr old female RN. I was actually terrified to take it after reading all the horror stories about it, that is why I'm reviewing it so others that read this will realize its not that bad. It's not easy, but its doable. It's one evening, you can do it! Drinking is the worst part of the whole prep, as you've had liquids all day, and all you really...

This "drug" is garbage! From the first sip it gagged me while trying to drink it no matter what was added to it and when it came out the other end it burned my rectum so badly I was bleeding! Sure, its easy to use but it is what it does to you once it is inside you that is the real issue here! I've worked in medicine in a medical office for 24 years. I know how pharmaceutical reps sell their wares...

I am 51 and took MoviPrep for my first colonoscopy. I read a lot of reviews, avoiding the horror stories posted by some people. Everyone who said not to believe the horror stories were right. I mixed and refrigerated my first liter in the morning and mixed each 8oz dose with some Crystal Light lemonade, plus added ice when I started drinking at 6PM the day before my procedure. Drinking through a straw also helped. I had a really good BM that morning, so I really didn't have much solid BMs throughout the entire prep time (sorry for the gross details). It took about an hour or so for the first episode to hit, and from there it was intermittent, but all liquid, which was a weird sensation. I wasn't able to fall asleep until after midnight, and had to get up at 4AM to start the second liter. That was the toughest really, because by then I was really sick of the taste, but I choked it down. More liquid passed, eventually turning from brown to dark yellow until we left for the Dr at 7:45am. The procedure itself was no big deal at all. I fell right to sleep, and before I knew it they were waking me up. I was VERY groggy, and remember little of getting dressed and driving home. I crawled into bed around 10:30, woke up for about an hour at 3:00, and fell back to sleep until 6:30 when my husband encouraged me to get up so I would be able to sleep through the night. I slept fine, but had a slight headache when I woke up, probably from lack of caffeine, since I didnt have coffee that morning. I really wasn't hungry, so didn't eat much all day and the next day, and am now on the 3rd day after, and am still just grazing. Got pix of my insides, which looked great. Happy to say it's over, and just encourage anyone who is afraid that it's really no big deal!Read More Read Less

This was much better tasting than what I had taken before. I added Crystal light lemonade to it (the kind for 2 pints) right into the mix put in the fridge. Was much easier to mix and take.

Used before colonoscopy. Lemon taste, chill before drinking and use a straw placed toward the back of your mouth. I drank it every 20-25 minutes instead of the 15 minute interval on the instructions. Also, eat low residue foods three days before, two days before but donâ??t each much either of those days, then of course the day before donâ??t eat. This lead-up to the prep made it easier, I believe. Less in, less out. I had no cramping or pain of any kind. Nothing explosive, but then there was not much in my system. I am sensitive to medications, and this did not bother me at all.Read More Read Less

While it worked great at emptying my bowels with NO cramping, this products taste was completely unforgiving. It was so horrid I was vomiting into my mouth and swallowing it back down almost every sip. I would never again use this. This was like a punishment to have to gulp down and a pure torture to a person who is already anxious about having to have a colonoscopy in the first place. I recently found out that there are a few NEW ways to empty your bowel for a colonoscopy using another product in which you only drink 4 or 5oz of a yucky liquid and then 24 to 32 oz of your OWN favorite clear liquid as opposed to 64 PUTRID oz of this monstrosity. I literally was crying in the shower after finally finishing my second does of Moviprep because it was so bad. If you have a bad gag reflex and are prone to morning sickness do NOT use MoviPrep. I could hardly even attempt my second morning dose. Times are changing! These newer 4 and 5oz drinks are the way to go - Talk to you doctor about a low volume version. I think it's called ClenPiqRead More Read Less

Absolutely the worst experience ever. I mixed up the prep and refrigerated it and began drinking it at 5;00 pm as directed. The taste was mildly unappealing but I was able to choke the entire jug down. About two hours later I was in the kitchen cleaning off the counter when I began to vomit and I don't mean regular vomit this was exorcist turn your head around shooting streams of liquid vomit. I managed to make it to the bathroom and finish in there. Still no void from the other end. About thirty minutes later that began and on and off again for another hour or so. I decided to go to bed at that point because I was exhausted after a day without food projective vomiting and now accompanied by explosive diarrhea. I wasnt in the bed 30 minutes when the urge hit me again. This time the diarrhea was accompanied by severe abdominal cramps followed by extreme hot flash followed by excessive sweating like my entire body was engulfed in a sea of sweat. My t-shirt and sweatpants I was wearing became instantly wet. sweat was dripping off my brow and I felt faint. I stood up and tried to get to my bed and walked into a wall. My heart was fluttering and I felt short of breath. I was seriously contemplating calling 911 at this point and having an ambulance transport me to the nearest hospital because I was sure I was about to die. Instead I laid on my bed disrobed and let the fan above my bed dry the pool of sweat I was in and eventually I drifted off to sleep. This is the stuff of nightmares. I'm not sure what is in that stuff but it is definelty not for me. I ended up having to cancel my test because I couldn't take the morning dose - just plain wouldn't because quite frankly I was afraid it would kill me. This was the worst experience of my life. Took a dual dose. 6 PM the night before. 4 AM the morning of. Used Suprep previously and it did not work well for me. Moviprep cleaned me out very well. 45 minutes after evening dose - it started coming and coming for about 3 hours. The morning of - started coming and went on for 1.5 hours. Highly recommend Moviprep. Taste was really bad - but managed to get it down without vomiting. Definitely chill it first.

The worst bowel prep I've ever used. I found the solution easier to handle by refrigerating the it before drinking. I don't know how anyone could drink it warm. I can't drink large amounts of anything at once so needed to take small sips. EVERY swallow made me want to gag. I am physically unable to vomit, but oh I wished I could. I was nauseated the entire 6 hours of prep. I spent most of the 6 hours (I took part 1 from 6 to 7 PM and part 2 started at 10 PM, finally exiting the bathroom after midnight) in the restroom and thought I'd done well cleaning out my system. Much to my surprise the next morning, I still had dark runny stool. Worse, the DOCTOR reported BAD PREP RESULT with stool remaining so he was NOT ABLE TO SEE WELL. Now I have to REPEAT the process.Read More Read Less

Don't take this medication if you are taking drugs containing Oxycodone. This med works on the attraction of water into the colon. Oxy slows peristalsis and the water is re-absorbed by the body before evacuation can take place.

Vile tasting. Had to work hard not to throw up. After drinking it did not start to work for two hours during which time I had intense cramping. Also woke me up twice during the night which I hadn't experienced with previous preps. This was also a two-day prep but didn't do any better than the preps I'd used before. I will not use this prep again.

This is the worst prep I have done so far. The taste is horrible and it took 6 hours to start working. The second part at 5 innthe morning made me vomit. The cramps are minimal but it takes forever to start working. I left home for the clinic and had to stop on the way. I have have many colonoscopies and this one was my worst experience. Movi-prep might work for some but not for me.

I took the split dose, it was my first time so I was really dreading the whole thing. Most people say the prep is the worst. Thankful I didn't have to drink a gallon of stuff, the 2 liters had to be easier than that. The taste was ok, it's just the consistency that kinda made me not like it. Started at 4pm the day before procedure and the first 8oz I sipped through a straw, well by the time you've finished its time for the next dose. I pushed that back an extra 5 min and decided to just chug it, gulped it down in two chugs. Much easier for me. Stomach started to rumble and within an hour it started moving through. I certainly didn't have to camp in the bathroom, but don't go far. You feel your body evacuating and can tell when the movi prep has mostly passed through, little by little near the end of emptying I was finished by 8pm. One thing is definately use Vaseline or whatever you like, I did and had no soreness at all. Next morning same thing, at 6:30 am I started to chug away, knowing what to expect this time. My procedure was scheduled for 2pm and I quit the drinking of clear fluids at 9:30 am. One fear I did have is my stool wasn't so yellow clear like they say it should be. I know this is tmi haha, but I'm more of a constipated person, always have been, and figured there was more in me to evacuate. I ended up following the directions and did the enema thing around 11am..it did help. Once I arrived at surgery center I had to go very little twice ( had to be there at 12:30pm) .. The rest was easy, people were so professional and nice. I have never been put to sleep before and a little nervous, but again they assured me it was ok. I decided to think of something uplifting so I said my prayer and stared thinking how much I love my 2 grandsons, they are my sunshine! While under I had the best dream and immediately forgot it upon wakening. All done, back in 10 years. you get a little gassy when you resume eating. Never had any real discomfort thru the entire procesRead More Read Less

Ok guys- I had my first colonoscopy this morning and I, like most of you, was scowering the Internet for advice, what to expect, and just peace of mind. I'm 21 years old and never expected I would need to have this procedure until I was 50, so I was very nervous. Moviprep worked like a charm! The first liter went down easy, very salty. My stomach gurgled for an hour or two before it started working. I had liquid stools right off the bat. Passing these watery stools is completely painless! Honestly it was like peeing out my butt(TMI?). I was never worried I wouldn't make it to the toilet, and I could hold it to some extent. Still wouldn't recommend being away from home. The second liter I began drinking at 2:30am was definitely harder to get down, but I found the quicker I drank it the better. I got it al down in less than the allotted hour. The worse part about moviprep for me was the stomach gurgling! I'm not sure how much of this was the moviprep and how much was the fact that I was starving. My procedure was at 9:30 but I ended up not going back until almost 10:30. At the hospital I did have a handful of liquid stools, but the nurse assured me that the scope had suction on the end so they were able to clean up what was left behind. I was a little worried that the prep didn't do what it needed to because my stools were yellowy, but still a bit cloudy. My doctor told me my prep was successful, the procedure took about 20 minutes. I'm having some cramping/gas pains since eating which I believe is normal. I hope that this will bring some comfort to someone out there who is freaking out like I was. I promise it's really not that bad. Next time I have this procedure I will ask for Moviprep for sure :)Read More Read Less

thank you to one of the reviewers that mentioned" artificial sweetner" taste....I am highly allergic to "aspartame" & when she mentioned I checked the box & the first ingredient was "aspartame"....my throat had started to close on me when I once popped a "Certs" in my mouth so you can imagine what would have happened if I had taken the first dose.....so thank you!!

I had to cancel my colonoscopy because movi prep did not do anything at all to cleanse my colon. I had one bowel movement after the first dose but nothing after that.

I started with the mixed solution, (Moviprep Orange) 1 litre, at seven in the evening. I allowed one and a half hours to drink the product. It was roughly an hour after finishing the drink that I passed my first motion. The overall process between starting the drink and the complete emptying of my bowel amounted to around three and a half hours. My second dose was started at 6am the next morning. I drank the litre within an hour. The first movement this time was much quicker. within half an hour. My bowel was completely empty at around 8-40. So this process was 2 hours and forty minutes. I found the drink quite palatable. Certainly not difficult to drink. This is the second occasion I have used it and on both occasions my bowel has been cleaned well and perfectly prepared for the examination. I had no side effects whatsoever. Read More Read Less

I stopped eating the day before and I have to say, aside from the taste of this stuff (it really does taste like Lemon Pledge would) it's been fairly easy. No cramping, some chills but I was "running clear" after my first dose. Nothing explosive like I've had with other preps. I put this down to having gone off solid food a day earlier than most might. It took about an hour to kick in.

I am a 57 year old female and just had my first colonoscopy on Friday. I have been stressing over this for two years. I was prescribed Moviprep. It was not near as bad as I thought it would be. Tastes like salty lemonade. After drinking the 3rd 8 ounces I started going to the bathroom. Lasted about an hour. Went to bed and slept all night. The next morning was a little tougher, but I got it all down. Make sure you chill it good and drink fast. The procedure is the best sleep you will ever have. Don't be scared by all the negative reviews. Yes, the taste leaves something to be desired. But with a positive attitude, you can get it down. I am so glad I finally had it done. Hopefully I am good for at least 5 years! Read More Read Less
