I have been able to run longer and with more ease using this medication. My concerns the soreness that I experience after running and the weight that I continue to gain. I exercise on a regular basis, eat right but since I started using this medication I can't seem to control my weight which wasn't a problem before.

I only have 2 wks of experience to share. The first week, I was pretty much asthma free. The second week, I supplemented with albuterol. The weather was humid the second week, which is a major trigger for my asthma, so I assume that is the problem. I have only been on the medicine for 2 weeks. I am trying to investigate the potential serious impacts of formordoral on asthmatics. My Dr mentioned he would be concerned about keeping me on this drug long term because of it. I have to say that even when I felt the need to use albuterol, my symptons were a walk in the park compared to my symptons before Symbicort. It has really changed my life. I would have to really be convinced it could cause death before I would be willing to change.Read More Read Less

I am extremely sensitive to flonase nasal spray, and I feel like I may be reacting similarly to symbocort. My eye seems to change sizes, eye lashes fell out, my voice is different, hearing loss, major weight loss, EXTREME anxiety and depression have developed, body hair, back blemishes. I can only "tolerate" one puff once a day or every other- although it doesnt seem to always work. Sometimes I must use albeuterol afterwards. I feel like it just changes the way I look and I can not put my finger on it.Read More Read Less

I had been on Advair for about 5 years, now that I go to the VA for healthcare, my Dr. changed me to symbicort this past Jan 2014.I was slightly overweight anyway, but since starting this med, I have gained 27 lbs. in 4 mos. I've never been this heavy, even when I gained 35 lbs with my 1st pregnancy, this is ridiculous and I could slap those stupid Dr's who say inhaled steroids don't cause weight gain, they are NOT God and don't know everything! By the way, I have not changed my eating habits and started exercising 3 wks. ago and guess what, I've gained 2 1/2 lbs. Read More Read Less

Had what pulmonary physician called a "paradoxical" effect from Symbicort - I experienced a frighteningly serious asthmatic breathing episode from this drug - immediately stopped using. Switched to Qvar at dr's recommendation - had persistent pain in heart area. Threw them both out. Visited a homeopathic MD - am now using a safe homeopathic remedy for my asthma (developed two years ago and lost 33% breathing capacity) - since taking arsenicum album (three pellets under the tongue 3 x daily), tightness in chest is much improved; breathing better; overall asthma symptoms under control (still use Ventolin inhaler occasionally) - no more dangerous horrible steroids which destroy the immune system, chemical pharmaceuticals with life threatening side effects - feel so much better using arsenicum album homeopathic remedy - all natural, safe, zero side effects. Please leave the pharmaceuticals in the garbage can where they belong and look into homeopathy as the safe effective alternative.Read More Read Less

I was on Advair for several years and had virtually complete control of asthma symptoms. My insurance company regarded Symbicort to be a less-expensive equivalent and no longer covers Advair. For me it controls symptoms for maybe 6 hours (a dose is supposed to last 12 hrs). After 6 hours, any respiratory challenge, like walking up stairs or cold dry air, results in symptoms that leave me coughing and uncomfortable. I never had this problem with Advair, even if I missed a dose. I am disappointed in Symbicort. For me, it is not an equivalent to Advair.Read More Read Less

Although somewhat effective at helping my lungs, at night my nose was stuffy and my uvula would swell up to the point of having suffocation problems. It also caused constipation, acid reflux, fatigue, leg cramps, and fluid retention.

Had a massive heart fibalution but unable to determine if Symbicort was the cause. Symbicort seemed to help my asthma but developed other symptoms such as dizziness, swelling under the ear, watery eyes, and dry mouth.

I have Sarciodosis and symbicort does help. I do have liver problems and HPB I've heard Symbicort doesn't react well with these conditions, is this true?
