I have been on this medication for approximately 6 weeks. I have tried several other cholesterol meds but nothing worked and I had extreme joint pain while on the other meds. After one month, my cholesterol dropped from 260 to 140. My tri dropped from 390 to 240. My dr also had me take 5000 units of Vitamin D one week prior to starting the Livalo and continuing for two weeks after I started th...

Has worked for me, but am having some discomfort in my overall body. I am also on Blood pressure medicine and I feel it may be working against it.

I currently also have ulcerative colitis, and Livalo makes me have diarrhea whether I take it with or without food.

Other medicines e.g. Crestor and Lipitor gave me very severe muscle problems. Livalo, 2mg per day, at bedtime has suited me very well. It is considered to work really well for people of Asian descent (I am from India).

Could not take other statins because of either itching or muscle pains. Have been takin Livalo for 2 years combined #'s are good, but the cost isn't. I had a coupon from the Manufacturer, so I payed and $18 co- pay. But, now that I have Medicare it costs more if I use Medicare. If I get it as a self pay it costs almost $83 a month!

I am so sensitive to statins. I have tried 3 others, all being a huge fail. Severe muscle pain. New doc put me on Livalo...only 1 mg a week and honestly, I feel awful. Thought maybe I was getting the flu but then remembered I am 3 weeks on this new statin. Not sure what to do. My diet is pretty decent. Not enough bleach in the gene pool tho. Damn genetics. My Dad had a quad bypass at age 58 and lived another 26 years, but he did start on a statin at that time and had no trouble tolerating it. Help!Read More Read Less

I have a lot of the side affects with statin medications. I have no issues with Livalo. I just wish there was a generic for it since it is so expensive for me.

After determining Crestor caused stomach issues (bloating pain) and some general tiredness I went off Crestor fo 9 months and felt great. After checking in with total cholestrol at 220 off any meds and tryglicerides at 140 we decided to try Livalo. I have been on it (2 mil) 2-months now and seem to have no side affects which is really nice. One more month to go and I go back to have blood checked.

Other statins caused muscle pain, but I have had none with Livalo. I started taking CoQ10 prior to taking Livalo which may have helped with possible side-effects. My cholesterol and triglyceride levels have improved even while I have been on large doses of prednisone.

After four weeks on Livalo (after trying seven other statins with effects), I have given up. I have a rash on my leg that is leather like and itches. The pain in my left foot at the top is excruciating, and I have skin eruptions and my back itches. Goodbye statins. I'll just eat lettuce for the rest of my life.
