Don't be scared by all these reviews. Happy people don't write reviews lol. I have been taking this for 3 months with the biggest issue being breakthrough bleeding/spotting. It's tolerable and otherwise side effects have been OK. I gained maybe two pounds and I think it was all in my boobs.

At first, I loved this form of birth control, I was actually loosing weight. Small break through bleeding, no acne, no cramping, great libido, everything was fine for me. Well I ran out of the 5 samples I received from my doctor and I recently switched to the generic form of lo-loestrin due to insurance and costs. It's been about 4 months and I'm miserable, I hate myself, I get sad or mad about th...

I am 19 and been taking this pill for about two weeks. I’ve been on multiple different birth controls since 14 due to endometriosis and painful periods. This has been the worst birth control. Within the two weeks I’ve been very emotional and cry to just about anything. Also got acne like crazyyyyy! I’ve never had acne.

i started taking lolo to help with my acne, but it’s only gotten worse. on top of that, i smell (especially down there), i’m more depressed than usual, hungry more often, i’m sleeping all day, and get nasty headaches that don’t go away. definitely quitting it.

Like many, I was hesitant about starting Lo Loestrin Fe, in part due to the negative reviews online. I started it for birth control purposes only and I am happy to report a positive experience thus far, with no negative side effects. My boobs are slightly fuller (I didn't change cup size though) and I remember my dreams most nights now. My mood and energy levels are consistent with what they are like off birth control (no issues). My advice is to make decisions based on what is best for you. There is no one size fits all when it comes to medication. Read More Read Less

I started this medication as an add on to Mirena IUD to treat endometriosis and painful periods. After taking for nearly 3 years, i've not had a period since, my pain has lightened more and more over time and it's been the easiest to take continuous birth control i've tried. I do have acne cyclicly and i do still ovulate, but it has also suppressed PMDD symptoms.

Ive been taking this birth control for almost 2 years now. It was originally prescribed to me when I was 16 and I had a period that was a full month of extremely heavy bleeding where I would be dizzy from blood loss at times. This pill helped and was wonderful for pain for about a year and then my periods became increasingly irregular and now I have not had my period in about 4 months. I am not pregnant and there are no signs of it coming but I do still have pain every day.

Effectiveness: The medication had one purpose, which was to ease menstrual cramping. It did the exact opposite. Cramps around the clock, minutes-long "episodes" as I've started to call them, all month long, multiple times a day. On am actual period they are constant and worse than the debilitating mess which occured before taking them. On top of this, I've lost all pleasure drive, have random and disruptive headaches, and am almost always hungry despite being constantly nauseated. Ease of use: It's a pill. Hard to punch out, at that. But how difficult can a pill be? Satisfaction: I'm told to just keep sticking with it until this stops, but I can't do this for another three months until my follow-up. The one singular thing I needed medication for, is now constant and much worse. Trust your body- if it's harming you, stop taking this pill. The side effects are WAY more common and severe than the packaging impresses on you.Read More Read Less

I first want to clarify that all bodies are different and will react different to birth control — that being said, I’ve been on Lo Loestrin Fe for about 8 years and it’s been smooth riding until recently. I used to have extremely heavy and painful periods (only lasted about 3 days tho). Lo was the first pill I was put on and it completely got rid of my period (for all 8 years). I gained about 10 pounds but it could’ve been in combination I started the pill same time I started college. I did end up losing weight and maintained it. Now, why did I stop taking lo? Within the last 2.5 years i’ve been having crazy cystic hormonal breakouts around my chin; I never had acne like this before. Given i’m in my mid-20s now I figured my hormones have changed. I’ve tried every skin and diet solution under the sun and finally decided it was time to try a new hormonal birth control to level out my body again. Read More Read Less

I wish the had a 0 star! DO NOT TAKE THIS BIRTH CONTROL! This has been the BIGGEST mistake of my life. I took this pill for 4 months because I had really bad cramps and the recommended it. Little did I know it was going to take me on a ride to a place I never wanted to visit. Everyone’s body is different. But wow I have been very emotional, mood swings , panic attacks, bad thoughts, headaches and had my period twice a month. At first I was I didn’t want to believe that it was the pill. Till 5 days ago I had the worse experience of my life. I had the worse panic attack. With everything under the book. Please do your research. And don’t make the same mistake I did. I started taking this a little bit ago and it is the worst. I’ve gained so much weight and my appetite increased so much. My acne is horrible. I’m severely exhausted and depressed. I hâte the way my body looks bc of the weight I gained. And ever since I started taking it I’ve had a non stop period. I’m sick of this and want to go off so bad. I’ve been on two other birth controls and I would go back to them in a heart beat.

This pill completely stopped my periods which is a plus, however it came with a lot of down falls I didn't figure out until I narrowed it down to this being the only change that has happened. I have gotten extremely ill every month for the past 3 months out of the 9 months I've been on it. Illnesses varying from RANDOM uncontrollable panic attacks that last anywhere from 20 minutes to 6 hours (hospitalization from fainting due to a heart rate of 127 for 6 hours) even Xanax prescription wouldnt work; I've been getting UTI's every other week, one lasted so long despite antibiotics it turned into a kidney infection; I have close to no libido, which is a downfall on my relationship. If you have ANY major stressors that have happened or is in progress ie college or clinical study... avoid this pill as much as possible. Read More Read Less

I have taken birth control for 10 year via the pill. After having a baby recently my OB put me on LoLo which I had never taken before. I found I had a lot of bleeding. Full blown periods every other week. I had migraines and mood swings with my periods. No cramping. After 3 months I am switching as I have low iron from bleeding so much and am miserable.

I was on the depo shot but didn’t like how I felt. Then I tried Yasmine and it made me an emotional wreck. I was on them because I’d went two years with no period. This time around I was a year and a half without a period and no one knew why. So my gyno prescribed Lo Loestrin. A few days after taking it daily I started bleeding. It was for 8 days! And it was extremely heavy the first 4 days. Now I haven’t had my period after that. I’m on month 4. I’m satisfied with this. And it’s helped a lot and doesn’t make me have mood swings & crying spells like Yasmine did. I recommend. Read More Read Less

I'm pre-menopausal. I'm in my 4th month of taking this pill due to period headaches. It has done wonders for me so far. Headaches are gone, my energy is up and I have lost 10 1bs without trying. I just spoke with my doctor and she was surprised about the weight loss, because no one has reported that effect to her before, so I'm online looking to see if anyone else has had that effect. I haven't seen too many comments about weight loss here, but hopefully other women will add going forward - especially those of us within menopause ranges :) Read More Read Less

This is by far the best birth control. I have used it for 5 years and have had no more abnormal bleeding or painful periods. I do remember in the beginning I lost an appetite and lost weight but when my body got used to it, it regulated out. I also rarely have periods but when I do they are short and low bleeding and not painful at all. I have had no symptoms in these past 5 years.

Coming up on 10 years on Lo Loestrin Fe, and it has worked so well for me. When I started out, I really didn't have any major side effects. It has prevented pregnancy for me during the entire time I've taken it. I actually don't have periods at all now, except maybe some spotting a couple times a year. I've discussed this with my doctors, and have been reassured that this is normal and won't affect my fertility. I would recommend and advocate for this oral contraceptive option!

This pill literally tore my body apart in the matter of 6 months. I switched to Lo Loestrin because I was looking for a lower hormone BC and my doctor recommended it. I have Endo and already had pretty painful periods with heavy bleeding. This pill not only made my periods worse but caused me to have 2 periods every other month. I gained 15+ pounds since taking it. I have now gotten to the point where I do not have an appetite and eating food is so hard cause it makes me so nauseous. Mood swings, depression, low libido… you name it. I talked to a coworker who said she was also put on this medication and it almost caused her to hemorrhage. I do not recommend this medication! I’ve been on this for 8 months now. I was on minestrin previously, but they discontinued it. I need a low estrogen pill as previous BC with higher levels would give me migraines. I haven’t experienced weight gain, or wild emotions (I’m already on anti depressants so that may be why).. I have THE WORST acne on my chin and jaw line. I’m 32 and have a good skin care regimen. I’ve never experienced it this bad, even as a teenager. It finally came to me that it must be from this BC. I’m extremely self conscious now because of it. Im well passed the 3 month trial period to let my hormones even out.. I will be making an appointment to switch to something else. Read More Read Less

I’ve been on this pill since 2016, when I met my now husband. It’s honestly been the best experience and I’ve had zero issues. I lost and kept off a good 5-10 pounds since I started it (though some of that was probably consciously) and also have had clearer skin (again, some of it was likely me discovering clean beauty..) but all in all no complaints. Then in July of 2022, 3 months ago, I got my next 3-pack and noticed the pills looked different - the blue is slightly brighter. I did not receive a generic though, it’s still packaged as lo lo esterin- but now I’m constantly cramping, my bloating is so uncomfortable, and my mood swings and emotions are on highhhh alert. Is anyone else experience a change in the last couple months?? I’m trying to figure out if it’s the pill or diet but my gut is telling me something changed in the formula and it’s wreaking havoc on my body and mind!Read More Read Less
