Today marks my one year on Qsymia and I wanted to see if there were any long term affects so I decided to read these comments. To my surprise there doesn’t seem to be any long term users….most are 90 days or less. I am pleased to say in that since I started this drug I have lost 138lbs and I am going to continue until I lose 75 more. This drug is really for those who need it. I have but back ...

Seems like I've been on diets all my life. So my doctor started me on the lowest dose of Qsymia and eventually up to highest dose. Overall in 8 months I lost 45 lbs. It makes everything you eat taste terrible. I had a very dry mouth, so drink lots of water. I was constipated all the time and just recently I acquired a kidney stone and was in the hospital for a day and night. I've stopped taking the Qsymia for now; however I have gained back 10 lbs in about one month. It's sure nice to have food taste normal for a change. I do plan to go back on the medicine starting the new year. So overall the medicine worked pretty good for me. Read More Read Less

I am not one to post very much positive or negative but with my own struggle over the years with weight loss and my positive few days on Qsymia I decided to share. Just a FYI I love Web MD!! and selected this site to post. I have been over weight for many years and not from a lack of being physical or working out. Bad metabolism, I have worked with nutritionists, medically supervised diets and was to have sleeve surgery last year. 3 days before the surgery my surgery was cancelled due to a blood factor deficiency and it was becoming very complicated / decided was not best to have a elective surgery with the blood issue. That took me again to trying to loose weight by my own, and back to the nutritionist who along with the Dr we tried hormone shots / negative and of course shakes and the like to no success. I finally this week started qsymia and this why I am writing after so long and so many years of trying all methods from the life style change to the more drastic and not being able to loose the lbs. BAM week one 10lbs, no side effects feeling great even have been putting on the sneakers and going for walks as I feel I have added energy. Just hope my blood work and testing stays good so I may stay on Qsymia and loose 60 lbs. yes its a drug and yes some people have tried many ways to loose lbs, Qsymia has taken away my cravings for sugar rush and at times need to make sure I am eating as it does reduce appetite very much. This all being said, I have struggled for many years loosing weight, this week was a success. I can't believe I wrote this review, but I also can't believe i lost 10 lbs this week. Will update at the end of next week and on Qsymia FB. Thank You and Good Luck All. GWBQSYMIARead More Read Less

A few minutes later, i felt virtigo and could not leave my house for three days. I paid for this medication $238 from my pocket. One one capsule was used. lost my money for this worthless medication which never helped me.

I was on 3.75 for 6 months also killed me, lost 28 lbs, lots of hair, could not sleep and by the time I quit was anemic and had hives and sores all over my arms, back, head and legs. I have stage 4 CKD and it made my GFR drop by 3%. Took a month to get it out of my system after quitting, just now feeling better.

THIS is a HORRIBLE diet pill. It affected my vision from day one. THEN I found I couldn't do even the most simple things on my computer for my job. Strangest thing ever. Couldn't process thoughts or something. WEIRD!! I went as far as the one with 11 mg of Phentermine. Phentermine is the only thing that works in it and it cost $140 for two weeks of it. TOTAL waste of money. You are much better off just getting straight Phentermine in a 35mg dose or so. THIS is a crap diet pill and believe me I have been on many and tried everything. Still the best thing is Ephedrine and always will be. You are better off just finding a stacker of caffeine and a form of ephedrine. Qsymia has WAY too many side effects and doesn't work.Read More Read Less

Ive taken Phentermine prior to starting Qysymia and it worked like a charm. As a result my doctor started me on the recommened dose of 7.5mg of Phentermine/46mg Topamax. It took about a week of the lower dosing of Phentermine to suppress my aappetite. However, the Topamax did cause some cognitive side effect that went away after 3 days. I had some brain fog, vertigo, and flat out trippy feeling but considering topamax is used as an anticonvulsant I wouldn't expect much less.Oh and the metallic taste is the real deal, it doesnt go away. I chee gum or mints. You can forget about sodas or anything carbonated bc they taste flat and super sweet. Imagine my suprise when I took a swig of a sprite. So if you love sodas, qsymia will nip that in the bud. Ive researched extensively reviews, studies, and the qsymia website and some of what Ive learned is drugs effect people differently, more people have had had success if they stick it out and talk to their doctors about what they're expeDo yall want bell peppers, zucchini, or cucumbers?riencing to try and remedy the situation. Taking diet pills comes with a certain amount of risk compared to moderate diet and exercise. Ive been on the 7.5 for a little over 2 weeks and am down 8lbs. Thats cutting out bad carbs, incorporating exercise twice a week for now, and drinking more water. Read More Read Less

This drug in combination with Victoza has helped me get off insulin completely! It is NOT for people who are just a few pounds overweight that are obsessed with losing a few pounds and I'll be very angry if they take it off the market because those types of people are abusing it. It IS for people who experience weight gain thanks to the pounds insulin adds on (yes surprise, insulin grows cells), or those who are morbidly obese that are trying to improve their lives. My cholesterol and blood pressure have improved greatly and I've lost 60 pounds in eight months. Also, my a1c went from 12 to 6.1!! Soon I will start reducing my intake of this medication now that its done what it was supposed to do, which was help me with portion control while I transferred from insulin to Victoza. Abusers, please go away!!! This isn't for you this is a miracle drug for those that need it! Don't ruin it for us, it could save our lives!Read More Read Less

I have taken this for 6 weeks and lost 12 lbs. with no change in diet or exercise. I have had no side effects. I had huge side effects from phetermine alone so this was a very good medication combination for my body. I am not obese but have had a lot of weight gain with no ability to lose what I gained due to thyroid issues, so this was a great medication for jump start for my body to get me back on track.

I have been taking the 7.5mg dose for 3 months and have lossed 40 lbs with no exercise at all. I haven't had any negative side effects. I have changed my eating habits, I have given up fried foods, high cal/high fat foods, soda, juice...basically all the stuff that we know is bad for us. I'm feeling like I have plateaued so I am going to start working out at least 4 days a week to see if I can get another 40 lb loss.

52 year old female. Before starting Qsymia, I was 5'6"' 237 lbs., diabetic, and becoming hypertensive. I was concerned because my blood sugar numbers were getting progressively worse, and I couldn't seem to lose even a few pounds. Now I have been on the drug for 7 1/2 weeks: I have lost 19.5 pounds, my blood sugars dropped to near normal, I have reduced my diabetes medication (dropped Januvia, a $70 a month pill) and my energy has increased. There were some side effects the first 3-4 weeks: headaches, tingling in my cheeks and legs, but nothing I couldn't deal with and absolutely worth it! I can decide how much I want to eat and stop. I do get hungry, but I don't have that relentless drumbeat in my head to eat more that I used to have, and my huge sugar cravings are nearly completely gone. This drug may be a game changer for me. I am going to stick with it and see where there journey takes me. So far, I am thrilled! Read More Read Less

I started on a low dose Per my Doctor ,not much for the frist week, then food was not desirable it changed the taste of some foods , I am a diabetic , my need for insulin went way down, I did have a little bit more energy, I still took naps and no problem Sleeping at night no problem eating, just didnt eat all the time and notice I was'nt eating as much and i had lost my uncontrolable desire for sweets, i could have a bit and walk away. I took this for 5 months ,I stopped when I lost my weight . I am starting to gain a little , If I could afford it I would take it three days a week to keep weight off, I think it helps insulin resistance in the Body which will certainly cause any one to lose weight.Read More Read Less

I started out with a 2 week low dosage 3.5mg which was fine. Week 3 dosage went up to 7.5. I have stopped taking Qsymia after week 5. I did not like the side affects with the increased dosage and after reading this I wish my physician had thought of leaving me at the low dosage. I had sever dry mouth even though I drank a sufficient amount of water. Had that "racy" feeling, upset stomach and felt the price for future prescriptions were not worth it.

I am about 2 1/2 months into treatment and have lost 14 lbs. which is a little on the slow side for me but my doctor says slow is best to keep it off. I have not exercised at all and I still eat some fast foods and sweets, only less of them in one sitting. I occasionally experience tingling in my hands and feet that usually goes away within a few minutes and I do take Miralax about once a week to ward off constipation, but other than that I have not really had any bothersome side effects. I try hard to push water, water, water, so as not to risk getting a kidney stone...I hope and pray I'm pushing it hard enough! I have increased dosage once so far. At this point I plan to continue treatment. Read More Read Less

After 2 months of using this drug, my follow up blood test revealed my liver counts up to a dangerous level. My AST went from 24 to 153 and my ALT went from 30 to 426. My Dr has taken me off this drug and doing blood test every 2 weeks o monitor any long term effects.
